Who I'm voting for and why...

I was hoping that Clark would run for President after seeing him on CNN during the "war".
Since then I have found him to be even better than I expected. I thank you for supporting Clark
as I believe more and more thoughtful people will.

My "dream" ticket would be Clark and Gov. Bill Richardson of NM although the Gov. says no way.
Keep up the fight.

Bart:

It's close.  I could happily support Wesley Clark or Howard Dean.
Dean gets my vote because of his organizational originality.

Elections are about piling up money and getting bodies to the polls.
One thing we learned from the last few elections is that our fellow citizens are divided exactly 50-50.
Howard Dean can upset that entire calculation.  He's bringing in new people and new money.
Both of those are messing with Karl Rove's calculations -- he can't predict where they're coming from
or how many of them will show up, and that upsets him.  That's when he'll make a mistake.

General Clark is a good candidate for the people who already vote, and I'm right with you on wishing
I could see him debate the Chimp, but that debate will never happen.  Rove is ready for Clark.
He'll beat the General 50-50, same as Al Gore.

Keep hammering,
Joe

General Clark will be getting my vote.
Anybody who says he'll kick the shit out of Bush has got to be all right.

Besides, from watching his appearances all over the media, to actually - gasp!- reading his
issue statements, Clark seems like pretty much the smartest guy on the face of the planet right now.

A guy with a brain, a clue, and a heart.

Hey Bart

I think I'm voting for Dean and hoping for a Dean/Clark ticket.
I will, however, vote for whomever wins the nomination for the Democrats, even if it's Lieberman!
I really believe that democracy will vanish from these United States if the monkey wins in 2004.

I read Clark's book on Modern Warfare and (I know this will surprise the hell out of you)
he mentioned that one reason he had so much trouble in Kosovo was due to Richard Perle!
Who would have guessed!

Keep on hammering!

Before the first shock and awe bombs fell, I was telling any who would listen that if the Bushies knew
where to find WMDs, they should take out just ONE site.  Even if there were only ONE, it would be proof.
Never happened, of course.  And since it didn't, I began watching the politicians and pundits and talking heads
much more closely to see what they'd said before going into Iraq and while the troops were advancing.

The one NOT spouting the "Bushit" was Wesley Clark.  This man caused me to watch far more CNN
at ridiculous hours than I'd ever planned.  He is articulate.  He speaks substance, not sound bytes, and
not tapdancing around his points.   I don't agree with everything he says, but never in the course of that
disagreement  o I get the opinion that he won't listen to objections if they're logical.

He's proven bravery in battle and in overcoming personal adversity.  He's proven he's not a whiner,
realizing that final orders from Clinton were a maneuver of spite by DoD higher ups.  He's been in the
highest position available in NATO and in that position proved his ability to build consensus with proud
and sometimes prickly allies.  The story of Eric Massa (on Clark's official website) tells me tons about his personality.

And wouldn't it be wonderful to think of the flop sweat popping out all over George W. Bush at the thought
of debating Wesley Clark?

Yvonne

I would love to see a Clark-Dean ticket...
It would be electable..Slightly hard on Dean however--
Clark has never held elected office but then neither had Eisenhower..

Walter

Bart,

I am voting for Wesley Clark.  Why?

Some people seem to think that you have to be born into the Democratic Party. That is simply not true.
I would welcome Lincoln Chafee, Tom Campbell, Jim Jeffords, and any other socially Moderate/Liberal
with Moderate/Conservative on Fiscal policy, who currently happens to be a member of the Republican
but is being held hostage by the Right Wing and Religious Zealots that currently dominate the party.

Wesley Clark CHOSE, with great deliberation, to be a member of the Democratic Party. (I would like to
give up Joe Lieberman and Zell Miller, but that is another story....) I CHOSE to be a member of the
Democratic Party 31 years ago, and do not consider myself to be any more of a Democrat than Wesley Clark.

We know he is personally brave, from his war wounds to his acts of personal heroism (rappelling down a cliff
to try and rescue crash victims.) We know that he doesn't give simple yes/no answers to questions that require
deep thought EVEN when that hurts him in the public eye. I know that he has lead a just war, and when he
thought more had to be done to make sure people were safe, he was willing to go the distance to save lives
in areas that had no real oil or value to the US other than in the simple value of human life.

He is a man that will lead our country with dignity, who as Supreme Commander has lead an alliance of nations,
understands the fiscal workings of Government and Business and has shown academic excellence equal to the
very intelligent and perceptive Dr. Dean.

Most importantly, I support Wesley Clark because he possesses the rare desire to lead people not for his own glory,
but for the improvement of the nation and its people, rather than the corporations which dominate the current administration.

Sincerely,
Wrich

Hey Bart, My vote is for Dennis Kucinich and the reasons are as follows:
He is smarter by a factor of at least 10 than the current office holder.

He is far better educated that the current resident. (not the great Yale and Harvard
but a bright alert student who absorbed information like a sponge.)

He has some actual hands on government experience, unlike the current resident.
Dennis Kucinich voted against bush's insane wars and has an actual plan to get our kids out of Iraq.
Of course, if by some chance Dennis does not make the cut, I will support any nominated Democrat except Leiberbush.

Bungalowbob

Dean is a "people person" and the fact that he is a medical doctor, makes me believe that he is a caring and
compassionate person. He isn't afraid to stand up against the ones who are badgering him; he's not afraid to
make a mistake that could be detrimental to his political stance; and that's because he believes in himself,
and he believes in us. He has given my husband and me a new lease on life, and we adore him for it.

However, if he isn't successful in his bid for the presidential candidate, then, we will be right there for the one
who does get nominated. This grand line of candidates, that is, the top four who are in competing in Iowa,
and General Clark, make me so proud to be a Democrat. I'm 71 years old, and this is the best qualified group ever.

My name is Charles Stanton. I am the proud father of a young US Marine who served from
12-02 to 06-03 in Kuwait and Iraq. I wake up every day and thank God he came home safe and secure.

I mention this to reinforce my personal stake in the critical need for America to forge a new foreign policy.
A foreign policy that is based on the Patriotic Internationalism that is the heart of the Wesley Clark campaign.

I never again want to be concerned that the Neo-Conservative cabal currently making administration policy
places my son’s life at risk for the wrong reasons. If he and 130,000 other brave soldiers where sent to Afghanistan,
with the support of the entire world, I am sure we would be watching the trial of Bin Laden or cheering that he and
the leadership of Al Qeuda has been destroyed. Instead of celebrating this victory in our war on terrorism, the bait
and switch to Iraq began. I recommend the article in the 12-23-03 Washington Post about this very point in an
interview with retired General Anthony Zinni.

This election will have at its core, a need to debate and decide what type of country we will have. Will we engage
the world or thumb our nose at it? Will we bring the industrial democracies together as a force for good in the world
or will we dismiss our alliance partners as "Old Europe" and ignore them? Will the doctrine of preemption, used by
an administration in which the policy outcome is preordained and the Intelligence molded to endorse it, or will our
blood and treasure be risked as a last resort and only for our defense and not some PNAC inspired Pax Americana.

We will need a democratic candidate to engage George Bush on these issues. A candidate who can effectively and
essentially argue, "been there, done that." We need General Wesley Clark to carry this vital debate to the American
electorate this fall. America and the West are hungry for a leader with the vision to lead for all the right reasons.

I am working every day to elect General Wesley Clark for MY son and every other son and daughter wearing this great country's uniform!

Charles F. Stanton - Newport News, VA

Charles, a shot of Chinaco Anejo for your son...
Tell him he has my respect.

I'm voting for Wesley Clark because I think he's the only one who can beat the unelected fraud.

Clark's a four-star general, is pro choice, and is generally a middle of the road Democrat.
Anyone too far left or right cannot win a fair fight.

I agree with Michael Moore about seeing a debate between Dumbya and Clark.
Clark's a war hero and speaks four languages, Dumbya went AWOL and hasn't yet mastered English.

I believe there are repugs who will vote for Clark because they're truly tired of Dumbya and his lies and his ruining the economy.

The last this this country or for that matter the world needs is another Military guy
in the White House telling lies about what happened in Vietnam, and making excuses
for what happened at Hiroshima, Nagasaki, or Kent State.

Another thing this country doesn't need is a Democrat poser who voted for the war
and drilling in Alaska taking votes away from the REAL Democrats.

I am tired of hearing about Deans "unelectability" when the last guy got 500,000 more
votes than Bush nationwide without sucking up to Bush like his running mate has for the last 3 years.

If Dean doesn't get the nomination I'll vote for Nader.

 (withheld)

...but a vote for Nader is a vote for Bush.

I am voting for Howard Dean. I feel that his idea of America is closely allied with mine.
I am a pediatrician and he has done great things for children in Vermont.
Maybe he can help the disaster that is American medicine; he is the best qualified to do so.

I met Howard Dean at a dinner in Virginia last Fall. He was not angry.
He was an impressive,  articulate, intelligent, straightforward, right on the money American.
His ideas about the major issues: War, health care, the economy, you name it, are those of us
(families) who have been Democrats since before Roosevelt was a twinkle in his mom's eye.
I hope he wins the primaries. If not, I support whoever does.

BJC

I’m supporting Dean for one major reason – he has an excellent record of delivering on the issues I care most about.
He delivered healthcare, including prescription drug benefits to the neediest citizens of Vermont.

He delivered environmental conservation. He delivered balanced budgets without raising taxes.
He delivered the apportionment of education funds, equalizing rich and poor districts so all kids had equal resources.
He delivered equal rights under the law to his gay citizens. He delivered an early childhood development program that
reduced reported physical abuse by 46% and reported sexual abuse by 73%.

Further, Dean was not faked out by the fraudulent lead-up to the Iraqi War. And here’s why I think so.
He’s trained as a medical doctor. That means he takes the best available evidence, makes a diagnosis, and suggests
a course of treatment. He does not insist of a particular treatment he favors if the evidence is not there to support it.
And he is willing to revise the diagnosis and treatment should new, salient facts present themselves.

Finally, I’m one of many that I know who were drawn back into a process we had grown totally cynical about
because of these qualities Dean has. I think he has a whale of a domestic agenda, and the sanity and clear judgment
to keep us safe and regain our respect in the international arena.

Respectfully,
Tom

I'm voting for Howard Dean.  Full disclosure:  I'm working on his campaign in New York City,
and I'm just thoroughly impressed with everything I've seen of him.  I think he can take Bush any day,
any time, anywhere, and his policy statements make sense to me and seem to me to be the most
representative of ALL Americans, rather than either the far left (me) or the extremist right (scary wack jobs)

Now, that said, I began work on the Dean campaign well before Clark entered the race, and I would be
perfectly happy with either one of them - I agreed totally with Paul Krugman's column in the NY Times
last week pointing out how very similar they and their policies are.  In fact, a Dean/Clark or Clark/Dean
(I don't really care about the order) ticket sounds to me like, well, just what the doctor and the general ordered.

I will vote for WHOEVER wins the Democratic primary, though, because my cute little baby ferret
could govern the country better than the asswipes we have now.

bartcop forever!

Thank you for offering the opportunity to place a few well-reasoned  paragraphs in support of our choice. It is a nice gesture.

Without a doubt this is the most important election I have seen in my lifetime.  I am nearing 54 years of age and I can remember
Tricky Dick and Ronald Ray-gun. George W. Bush is a hundred times worse for he stands for nothing that anyone would
recognize as being an American principle. At least with Nixon and Ray-gun they believed (or at least did lip-service) to the
will of  people instead of the corporations.

I would like to see Wes Clark nominated for President. I believe this election is so important that we need the best of men
to lead us in the worst of times. I believe General Clark is that man. His record speaks for itself. Furthermore, in the interest
of presenting the best possible ticket, I would much like to see Dr. Dean running with Clark. Clark has had great experience
in foreign affairs, Dean has much more experience with domestic issues. Clark is a Southerner, Dean a Northerner; however
both are excellent candidates and I will whole-heartedly support either.

It is just that this election is so important :
Let them lead us out of the quagmire of Iraq and the mendacity of the Republican's rule.

Veritas

This veteran will vote for Clark and Dean for VP
As for ach de Lieber - shut up already!!

John from Wisconsin

I live in California - so who I will vote for in the Primary
depends on what we are offered after all the other Primaries.

General Election:  I will be voting for whoever the Democratic Party runs.

Four more years of all war, all the time is morally unacceptable and will bankrupt our nation.
Thanks!

Kate C

Notice how Dean fell in the polls, after the unflattering pics, and articles in Time, and Newsweek?......
Yeah, the week before the caucuses.....

thank god for you guys, and the internet......
"give em hell,  bart!"

don

Well, Iowa's over ... I'm a Dean supporter, but look - whoever can beat the Monkey
is getting 110% of my support.  I think Dean took a big licking onight - the activists
(and I guess I am one of them) like this guy, but if the voters (especially if they are
Democratic activists) don't go for the "front runner" without Clark being there,
he has a big hurt on him.  Let's see what happens in New Hampshire...

FOX News - wholly without merit, just like the judge said

Dear Bart,

I will be voting for Wes Clark for many reasons.
Besides being smart, well educated, served his country with honor, decorated war veteran, well spoken,
literate, knows his way around foreign policy, presents himself well, articulate, speaks four languages,
has experience managing a lot of employees, has a lot of common sense, and seems presidential on camera,
there is one more important reason.

General Wesley Clark has a chance to carry the South, and some Democrat carrying a large part of the South
is a factor that it is going to take to win against Bush.  Most of the other candidate for the primary would carry
no/few Southern states.  Clark has a chance to carry a bunch of them.  Of course, Clark or even Jesus Christ
running on the Democratic party in the real election, will not carry Texas.  Not sure about Oklahoma.

Sincerely,
WGM
author of the long ago end of bartcop story "The Elephantmen"

You wanna know who I'm voting for?

Wes Clark

And I'm not happy about it.

Yes, you and dozens of others (despite Madonna) have convinced me that, even if
Wes Clark is what I fear he is... a freedom crushing, authoritarian, corporate, Council
of Foreign Relations, one world government, pro-drug war mole interjected into the race
just in case G.W. does so badly that even Diebold can't save him... at least he isn't GW.

This time, it's really that bad.
I'm hoping he's not beholden to the resource extracting, oil, mining, and timber industries
that want to destroy any natural thing of value for short term profits. I'm hoping that at the
very least he's serving a different cabal of corporate masters who don't have their eyes on
the last pristine biosystems in this country and the world.

I'm voting for him because Karl Rove and his media machine would chew Dennis Kucinich up
and spit him out and a vote for Kucinich would be every bit as meaningful as a vote for Al Gore
in Texas (or Oklahoma... Hell of anywhere in America) in the general election would have been in 2000.

Now that any hope of establishing a viable third party that actually represents people instead
of corporations is completely lost, I'm choking back the fucking bile and voting for the only one
that stands any chance of sending GW home in a humiliating defeat.

Scott

The only candidate that I could even consider voting for would be Kucinich.
He is against NAFTA.  He was against the war in Iraq.
He supports family farmers, and he has the support of labor unions.

James

My vote goes to Dennis Kucinich, the only candidate in direct opposition to George W. Bush.
Look at every aspect of the phony Bush's record, person, or position...Kucinich is diametrically opposed.

He came up poor, made his own way, fought for the people against the large powers throughout his
political career, and never had to apologize or lie about any decision he's made. He's the only candidate
who has a wide and long vision of what the United States could and should be in this post-Cold War world.

Yeah, it's hard to be the grown-up nation in a dangerous world, to lead towards peace rather than sell fear.
It's hard to tell the truth about what we, as the strongest player in the game, have got to face when we're faced
with terror and aggression. Bush the Unelected, Bush the swaggering, smirking bozo who bragged during his
campaign that he never read the foreign press, has fooled a large number of people into thinking that he's some
sort of down-to-earth, regular guy who understands the problems of working people and will protect them from
all kinds of real and imagined boogeymen in this world.

Here's the truth: Dennis Kucinich is a guy who comes across on TV as a small, big-eared, pencil-necked
vegetarian geek who doesn't even get mentioned in the evening news of the Democratic candidates.

Here's another truth: He's the only guy who is the real thing, a man who could start to turn this county around
and help lead it toward what it was supposed to be in the first place. That's why I'm voting for him.
Ron Green

Bart,

I'm voting for General Clark because I saw him do two very couragous things on live TV.
First he said he was proud to be called a Liberal. Later in the show he pointed to the American flag
and said "that flag does not belong to the Republican Party it belongs to all Americans."

That was enough to get my vote.

I am a former Marine with two Purple Hearts and I'm also a Proud American Liberal.
Bring em on General!

Bill Clark
