Subject: the 'liberal' media
Hey Bartcop--Love the site; I read it every day.
I wanted to offer an observation about the so-called
'liberal media':
If the mainstream media is so damned liberal,
why are we constantly hearing
right-wingers gripe about how liberal it is?
It should be obvious to anyone that the media
practically fall over themselves to air right-wing BS.
What's even scarier, though, is the number of
people who just accept this crap as the truth and don't
realize that the media is big business and therefore
an inherently conservative entity that has
absolutely no interest in questioning the existing
political and economic order.
Thanks for the great reading and for hammering away at the righties every day.

Originally New Orleans, now Alexandria, Va.
Jay, excellent point.
It reminds me that each time you hear "The media is sooooooo liberal,"
that gives them an excuse to try to get into Clinton's trousers again.
The Republicans love it when the networks broadcast the lie
that they're slanted in the liberal direction.
I've heard the rumor, but haven't yet read the story, that Burton is
considering
dropping his horseshit "pardongate"
sham, but how can they?
If we drop the phony pardon "scandal," what will be on the news 24/7?
They're NOT going to investigate Smirk's crimes - he's off limits.
We've already seen the American Spectator go belly up.
How far behind can Fox News be?
Everyday, Rush's promo says "My problem is there's too much to talk
about
and NONE of it involvesn Clinton," but then he spends the whole show
in Clinton.
Pigboy, Hannity, O'Reilly the Sunday morning shows are allin trouble
without
if they can't fabricate these imaginary Clinton "scandals."
The whores may have to go to work.

BC-
Enjoyed the hell out of your "What If..." piece
on the Conservative media jackals.
I have to respond, however, to your assertion
that there are no liberal news shows.
There is one: Comedy Central's "The
Daily Show with Jon Stewart".
I watch it every night, and, I kid thee not, it
is the only place in the entire festering
television media spectrum to get an accurate
read on what the conservaholes are up to.
The fact that it's on a comedy network only shows how far we've all fallen.

Joe, excellent point.
Remember, during the fraud campaign of 2000, the toughest questions
Smirky got
were from David Letterman. That speaks volumes about the media whores.

Subject: Gore on campus
BC,
Greetings from Murfreesboro and Middle Tennessee
State University where
Professor Gore is taking it to the streets, so
to speak.
Gore's class is going well, I suppose. I saw him at a reception recently and shook his hand.
"It's an honor to meet you, sir," I said. "I think you got screwed in the last election."
"Uh, thanks," he replied and moved on to the next schmuck in line.
Here at MTSU, he's lecturing on community
building, but at Columbia, he's teaching a graduate class
in covering public affairs. For the last
session, he brought in Rupert Murdock for an interview.
At the end of the class, he opened up the
floor for questions.
What an amazing opportunity for those students.
I have about a dozen questions I'd like
to ask Murdock, given the opportunity and they all start
with "in your role as a right-wing media
bullshit artist. . . "
ha ha
I'd like to ask a few of those questions, myself. The first
one might be,
"Is it true the jackals who chased Princess Diana to her death
worked for you?"
Murdoch is like Microsoft and Wal-Mart.
They're going to own everything before long.
Note: Murfreesboro is where those cracks heads were caught with Mrs. BC's touring sedan.

Subject: Your Tax Plan
Your tax plan sounds good to me.
Why do we need a tax cut when we can have a rebate?
Besides It comes out of the treasury now while
we already have the surplus in cash.
Not five years from now when we only "project"
we will.
I make over 50K but less than 100K so I'm right
in there.
Have you sent it to your Senator?
John
ha ha
My senator?
My senator is Jungle Jim Inhofe (R-Warm Pissquik)
That son of a bitch is seriously insane.
They hald a fund-raiser here last week. That lying shit said,
"President Clinton has compromised virtually
every nuclear secret
we have in our arsenal to the Chinese
with his fund-raising gimmicks."
Can you believe that wild-ass rhetoric?
There was a time, just a few years ago, when a US senator would NOT
talk
like a crazed ditto-money having his period on the Fox News channel.
In Oklahoma, to be a successful senator, all you have to do is hate
Clinton's fucking guts
and you're qualified to dit on the goddamn senate intelligence committee.
Remember what that crazy slug said when we were teaching Milo some manners?
"As a member of the senate intelligence committee, I know how low our
stockpiles
of Tomahawk Cruise missles are, and even though I can't tell
you the exact number,
I can say it's less than 100 missles."
Can you believe our government would let a nutty fuck like that have access to secrets?
So, no, I don't think crazy-ass Pissquik would have even the slightest
interest
in the people of his state getting hold of their own money.
It's not what Smirk has commanded.

Hello Bart,
Love your stuff. I was thinking the other

Wouldn't that make a great cartoon??!!
Stephen,
It just goes to show what happens when you mix religion and government.

Subject: George Will
Hey Bartcop,
Check out the column in today's edition of The
Tulsa World Wipe by George Will, Nancy Reagan's lap dog.
He actually says that he told Dubya what question
he (Will) was going to ask Dubya before appearing on
ABC's "This Week" the day before the Iowa caucuses.
Will writes,
"One of those who was to question him (this
columnist), not wanting to ambush him with unfamiliar material,
and wanting from him a considered judgment,
took the unusual step of telling Bush he would be asked if he
agreed with a particular proposition from
an opinion written by Justice Clarence Thomas.
The proposition, was given to Bush on a 3-by-5
card...."
That statement is an overt admission from the
dumbest of all the columnists, that they were soft pitching to
Bush, that Bush couldn't be counted on to handle
an answer, even if he didn't know it.
Can you imagine that kind of treatment to a real, grown-up candidate?

Subject: Tax Plan
Hey BC,
Good idea
for a tax plan.
It reminds me of the system in Germany, in a
way: the 13-month salary (or sometimes, the 27th biweekly paycheck).
It seems that everyone who obtains a 'salary'
in Germany - because of their strong unions - gets paid for 13 months
of work (their nominal salary being based on
12 months - and I believe they are only taxed for 12 months, too!),
and the 13th month is paid, yep!, in December!
Smart, huh?
Some other good ideas of theirs:
the Labor unions MUST sit at the board of directors
of ANY corporation, the union rep. even has a vote!,
and SECRET meetings of the board are strictly
VERBOTEN (people have gone to prison for attempting to
organize secret board meetings without the union
present). On the other hand, unions do not have the right to
organize boycotts, and even the right to strike
is pretty restricted, although general strikes are still allowed.
Not to mention the 6 weeks of paid vacation for
every worker per year, free health care for everyone
(paid through the employer), free schooling through
grad school. Efficient trains/bus system....
Lots of good beer and champagne, but desperate
paucity of premium tequila/bourbon.
Oh, well, one thing at a time, eh?
Cheers,
Sport

Subject: Tax plan
Great plan--basically an application of the earned
income credit to everyone (now it is ridiculously restricted).
Certainly good demand-side theory. Furthermore,
since it would give people at the bottom an added incentive
to earn income, it would probably reduce welfare
rolls since it would effectively give the poor an extra 10%
on the small wages available to them.
But one suggestion for people confronted with
the absurd argument that it is "unfair" to tax the rich more
than the poor. Ask these poor sheep who
benefits more from the economy: The poor and struggling,
middle classes with their Tercels and beat-up
hatch-backs, or the rich with their Mercedes, BMWs, and luxury jets?
Then ask them who has the most to lose if the
government couldn't pay its bills, foster technological innovation
(such as the internet), pave roads, defend the
nation, etc.? Of course, they will say that they will lose their
$20-50K salaries, but the rich will lose millions,
and even billions.
Finally, since the republicans are always bleating
that higher taxes create a disincentive to earn more, ask them
whether they would prefer 85% (or even 100%)
of their piddling little salary, or 65% of a million dollars.
If they say the latter, the republican argument
goes out the door.
