Quotes

"Today, the United States is governed by a junta of war criminals who took power through a kind of coup.
That coup may have been preceded by (dubious) elections: but we should never forget that Hitler was also
an elected politician. In this analogy, 9/11 fulfills the function of the 'burning of the Reichstag,' allowing the
junta to grant its police force powers similar to those of the Gestapo. They have their own Mein Kampf
  - the National Security Strategy - their own mass associations - the patriot organizations - and their own
preachers. It is vital that we have the courage to tell these truths, and stop masking them behind phrases
such as 'our American friends' that have by now become quite meaningless."
--Samir Amin, Al-Ahram Weekly,  The US is Governed by War Criminals

 Editorial: Right turns only
Social moderates have lost all say in the GOP

  Excerpt:
"Instead, Whitman tried to walk an impossible line between an environmental conscience and the
White House's big-oil, big-gas, big-coal, big-car agenda. Predictably, her decision to step down
drew cheers from anti-environmentalists eager to have an unapologetic ally in the office, and shrugs
from environmental advocates, who saw little to celebrate in her tenure but even less hope for a
preferable successor. And so another of the Great Moderate Hopes has been defeated - not even
two presidential election cycles after being anointed a contender. Whitman and Weld are hardly
alone in exile (will Powell be next?), but they've lost their chance to influence the GOP agenda.
That's bad news for the environment, as well as for abortion rights and other civil liberties "

Subject: I don't expect this to be the top on your list to read but...

 You da man,

I have been waiting for along time to see a voice from the left that "ain't fraid to be a man".
Ee have been framed by the right for too long as being some bean eating nancy boys and I  for one
am damn sick and tired of it. It's good to know that there are others of like mind making a difference out there.

But on to the point. My grand father fought in WWII and never got to see Bob Hope. However, I have heard him
say that the fact that he made that he made an effort to come out to let the troops know that he cared meant a lot.
I love our troops and as a liberal male, if I ever saw somebody spitting or otherwise disgracing our troops as they
return from a war (whether I agree with it or not) I would be the first to kick their ass. I LOVE my country, I just
hate the direction we are going but that has nothing to do with our troops. They are victimized more than us by the
illegitimate residency than us. The problem is that we haven't let them now how they are being exploited by Rummy,
Wolfie, Bushie, et al. The blue collar boys are the salvation for the left but unfortunately those in power think they
are no worth it. They need to think again. The blue collar is our base and we GAVE them to the right.

If we get them back (read every progressive movement since the 1800's) we can make the correct change.

I'm used to FOX lying - that's why they were put on the air.
But yesterday afternoon they weren't making any sense at all.

Concerning Laci Peterson, they breathlessly announced "startling new evidence
from a second autopsy that helps to shed new light on the viscous murders."

The "startling new evidence" was a report that tape was found around the neck of the fetus.
But they've established that the baby was born post mortem, so when was Scott Peterson
supposed to have wrapped it around its neck?

And if the first autopsy missed the tape around the neck, does that mean Jeb Bush hired him?

The second "bombshell" is a report that the fetus had a long scratch on its body, so FOX theorized
that the murder weapon caused the scratch-turned-cut.  Nevermind that the fetus was found in the
Pacific Ocean. Seems to me if there we NO scratches on a floating body, that would be a bombshell

Then there is "the Satanic cult" theory that FOX is ridiculing about twice per minute.  As far as I know,
neither Geragos nor Peterson has ever mentioned a "Satanic cult."   But the AP, who often prints stories
that haven't yet happened, said Geragos has suggested that the victims were killed by members of
a Satanic cult.  Anyone know the facts on that?

At one point, Shepperd Smith asked Greta Van Susteren about the Satanic cult, and Greta said,
"Remember, we don't know if there's a cult or not - we have zero facts in this case,"
to which the always fair and balanced Smith said, "Oh Greta, ...come on!!"

How dare Van Susteren entertain the possibility that the defendant might be innocent!
That's not how the entertainment business works at FOX News.

CNN, FOX, MSGOP and all the other big media are using their hatred for Clinton to
ridicule Marc Geragos and that may eventually turn into a net minus for this defendant.

 Ari's replacement?

Don't you love it when the GOP gets caught lying?
Of course, you won't see this in the GOP-controlled media

There is no doubt that Saddam Hussein now has weapons of mass destruction.

We know for a fact that there are weapons there.
   Ari Fleischer,   January 9, 2003

We know that Saddam Hussein is determined to keep his weapons of mass destruction.
   Colin Powell,   February 5, 2003

We know where they are. They are in the area around Tikrit and Baghdad.

Meanwhile, the media keeps telling us what a godly Christian Bush is, how he's an authentic cowboy and rancher,
how he has the interests of the little people in mind as he borrows money to pay for tax cuts for the super-rich.

Just what did DeLay know about the Dems’ Texas plane?

  Excerpt:
"At 34, I thought it’d be a while longer before I’d have to say that I hailed from a bygone era. But in my day,
if a House majority leader was directly involved in a scandal that triggered a potentially criminal investigation
at one cabinet department, an administrative review at another, and a grand jury investigation in his home state,
he’d be in some trouble. Members of the opposition party might even push to get to the bottom of it.
Luckily for Tom DeLay, though, times change...

On “Meet the Press” on Sunday, Russert asked his panel about the growing list of revelations about the Texas
Republican’s efforts to enlist federal law enforcement — and other federal agencies — in helping him settle a
political fight back home in Texas.

In response, Sen. Joe Biden (D-Eunuch.) said, “I don’t know enough to comment on that. I mean
I just don’t know what happened there. I’m just not qualified to comment.”

What an wimpy loser Joe Biden is. (I need a graphic of Biden's face on Daschle's tutu)
He's presented with one of the biggest megaphones in politics and he has no opinion?

Democrats do NOT want to win another election.

Did Russert ask Biden on because he knew Biden would play the wimpy loser?
There wasn't one Republican during impeachment who "knew what happened,"
but that didn't stop them from expressing their manufactured outrage, again and again.

Subject: thanks for a cool site, but...

Hey man, I love your site and read it just about daily. But there's one thing I've noticed that bothers me.
You're always saying, "I'm SO ashamed to be a Democrat!!"

I don't even think you realize how very often you say those words or an equivalent of them.
So why BE a Democrat at all?   There's just no fucking difference anymore.

I wish I knew what you meant to say there.
You think there's no difference between the two?
I thought you Greens saw the light, after giving Bush the White House...

I understand that you probably feel the need to be loyal (unlike most Dems), but Jesus Christ, man.
The Dems aren't just asleep, they're dead like disco, my friend. They have nothing else to offer the Left.

Like Mike Moore says, the lesser of two evils is still pretty goddamn evil in this case.
 Was Hitler "worse" than Mussolini?

 Jeff
 Stillwater OK

 You're not making sense.
You just suggested the Democrats are blood-thirsty oil men, intent on a Fascist, global takeover.
The Democrats are scared, sacless bunnies who can't be wakened, not vicious killers.

"Here's a quote supposedly by W that's in this new movie(The Big Dance ):
"I won't be seeking a declaration of war. With a shadowy enemy, specificity makes that problematic."
Oh yeah. Our president who can't pronounce "nuclear" properly said that out loud. Sure. You bet."

Wash Post Rips Into Sid Blumenthal
    by Linton Weeks (R-Clinton Hater)

  Excerpt:
"Hi-ho! And welcome to the game show that makes a lot of people feel a little uneasy and squeamish! That's right!
It's "The Clinton Wars"! A zany, brain-draining, shaming-and-blaming inside-Washington show based on the
recently published book of the saaame name! In the hot seat today: Sidney Blumenthal! Author of the book,
former Washington Post reporter and longtime Clinton White House habitue...The book is billed as a "riveting
inside account" of the Clinton presidency. But our game show isn't really about politics. It's about people,
polemics and the Machiavellian side of Washington, where the ends justify the meanies. Here's what Time
magazine says about Blumenthal's book: 'The events he describes already feel like they happened decades ago,
but he writes as if they just happened yesterday -- with a brittle, unpleasant, debater's edge, still eager to score
points and settle scores. 'The Clinton Wars' is neither history nor journalism nor memoir. It's just more politics.'"

Why is it that whenever a Democrat comes out with a book, the New York Whore Times and TIME Magazine
and the Washington Whore Post race to see which of them can discredit the book the fastest.  But when that
Clownblower Ann Coulter spews her venom, it's accepted as an honest book with a slight conservative slant?
