I felt compelled to send Ms.Liberto a note of support in this difficult time:

MWO - article
reviews could have been worse!
Dear Jennifer,
Look on the bright side. Although your story
on Salon had shall we say, reviews that were praise
challenged, you were at least never accused of
plagiarism. I for one respect your efforts to be a
writer and hope you will go far.
Specifically, I respect your willingness to go
out on a limb for others and risk the ridicule of the general
public by writing such an expose. If more people
would just put in the level of effort that you made, there
would be fewer high school kids with failing
grades on their creative writing projects. I have taken your
piece to heart and will be using it to tutor
my kids this summer - it is full of valuable lessons on such
things as rhetoric, ethics and logic.
Don't give up. The ranks of journalism are tight
with whiney egotists who will do anything for a dollar, you
have shown the qualities that should eventually
get you solidly into that cadre. I pray every day to both
the true gods that our citizens will pull themselves
up by their boot straps, follow your example and try
to get a job as a professional in their chosen
field. In fact, I was so impressed with your effort that I
have suggested my oldest write about MWO for
his High school English project next year.
It will make a pleasant change from "What I did
on my vacation."
In closing, I wish you the very best of luck and
I hope that you manage to get a job as writer after you
finish high school and take some classes in Journalism.
By the way, that is the technical name for
the job you are pretending to do.
If you are having trouble making ends meet, your
writing ability would make you a perfect fit over at
Gold's gym as an aerobics instructor. If there
is any justice in the world, you will indeed go very far;
Mozambique comes to mind.
Best regards,
Faun
PS - Just out of interest, you didn't copy any
of your
article from writings by a grown-up did you?
