Musings from the Outland
                         by Richard L. Fricker

TULSA---Well, what shall we talk about, the six British troops killed in Iraq
or the one American, bringing our total to 19 since the war was declared “over”
by fearless leader. How about the road map to peace, you know the one Ariel
Sharon shoots in the ass at every opportunity…. I guess George isn’t folding the
                      laundry fast enough.
Let’s see if I have this right, George says, “over here, over here, I
got the road map to peace.”
Sharon says “great George, let me see your road map to peace. I
appreciate you’re letting me keep those nasty Palestinian Arabs under control.
Why don’t ya’ll come on over here and we’ll have a big meeting, lots of photo
ops and agree to your road map to peace. Just to make it official I’ll arrest and
kill a few Arabs for you, right after I wipe myself with your roadmap. And, George,
not so much starch in the shirts. By the way, I’ll need some more helicopters,
and none of that used Iraqi stuff .”

Then there’s Iran, Syria, North Korea, a missing jet liner, and Dog
stuck in a Mexican slam. I’m sure once he collects on the bounty they’ll let
him out, after paying a small fine, equal to the bounty.
See there’s lots more out there George. Here in Tulsa the big talk is jobs,
and the lack thereof. Republican Tulsa has the second highest unemployment
rate in the nation. Bankruptcies have broken all records for two months running.
American Airlines in going in the tank. There’s talk the AA Tulsa base might
be shut down. What do our market based, conservative, business knows best, keep
government out of business republican political leaders come up with as a solution?

Hey, lets have the city buy the AA property and then lease it back to them
for a dollar. That will keep AA flying and save jobs.
What happened to letting the market place decide? If AA tanks, it tanks.
The conservative war cry has always been “Let business run things and all
                      will be well.”

                      Lets look:

AA flying low, slow and out of control. Williams companies is trying to keep from
folding while kicking the indictment wolves from the door. WorldCom… tanked.
CFS…tanked. And still these suits claim they can run the show and that the
government should stay out…until the bailout.
So where does this get us? Simple. These guys are the Bush voting base and bank.
Without the industrial goofs and thieves Bush wouldn’t be there and we wouldn’t be here.
Thus the lying, deception and pocket lining is endemic to the very soul of  the
current administration. Example: My local Congressman, John Sullivan (R-oil, alcohol
and tobacco) claims he is a family values guy. However, he’s never addressed taking all
that money from beer distributors, oil and gas interests and the ever popular tobacco
lobby---a lot of that money was laundered via GOP PACs, so heart and lung disease
is now a family value…Good John, real, real good. Sullivan is but one example.
Yet even as they keep losing their jobs, getting their schools closed, municipal
services cut, kids killed for lies and  Iraqi oil conservative America can‘t wait to gather
                      at the Bush trough.
So, if it’s the heartland you seek, look no further: a place where ministers gather
to pray so Oral Roberts won’t die, even though he claims his mission is to join God in
the great dimensional transference. Where corporate droids tank businesses to the tune
of millions and then ask for a government bailout while railing against rising welfare cost,
where there’s no money to keep the swimming pools open for kids in 100 degree weather
but the city prison runs throttle open, where the state says it’s broke but still plans to kill
120 plus people at a cost of $1.2 million per gurney ride. Ah, yes the ever fabled heartland
patriot will never criticize, even when they know George lied, thousands died.
