 Quotes

"To hear Bush talk about it, he met Kenneth Lay
at a masquerade party and never talked to him."
    -- Jon Stewart

A year ago, when U2 won a Grammy, Bono said
"We're re-applying for the job of  'biggest band in the world.'"

I think they got the job.

I know there are lots of U2 haters out there, but who can argue that
U2 is easily the biggest band in the world?   Who would be considered second?
U2 had a Zeppelin/Stones/Beatles kind of year ...and then 9-11 happened,
and all those emotional anthems took on a whole new meaning.

People gushed about their Super Bowl performance (for which they weren't paid)
but it was just a tiny outtake from the much better, regular show they put on in concert.

Of course, if you asked me which concert I wanted to attend on a given night,
U2 and Garbage, I'd be at that Garbage show before the "R" sound
left your mouth, but the boys still put on a good show and they deserve their awards.

 Michael Moore/bin Laden Update

Click  Here  to read a full report on his Daily Show bombshell
from my good friends at Buzzflash.com

  Excerpt:
Moore started on the Dick Cheney stonewalling situation. "It's not the minutes of the
meetings about screwing California. It's the meetings about the oil pipeline they had with
the Taliban…this was going on last August…"

Then Moore cited the New Yorker article which questioned "why George Bush allowed the
private Saudi jet to fly to 5 American cities to pick up 20 bin Laden family members" while
no one else could fly for 3 days and how the FBI was upset because they couldn't interrogate
any of them. Then, a week later, the New York Times reported on the Carlyle Group and the
ties to the bin Laden's and how they put up the money for Bush's first company, Arbusto."

This might be too big for dial-up, but it's real and it's right there.

Special thanks to David Perkins for taping this, converting it to QT and posting/hosting this clip.

Lastly, Michael Moore may not be considered a Democrat's best friend,
but anyone who'll get on TV and say what he said is a friend of mine.

   February 27, 1942

The first major surface action of the Pacific war , the Battle of the Java Sea, opened.
Dutch Admiral Karel Doorman, leading a rag tag band of Allied warships attempted to
intercept the Japanese invasion fleet heading for Java.  At 1620, contact was made between
the two fleets. The Japanese fleet, scored first, hitting the British cruiser Exeter with an 8-inch shell.
She lost most of her power, and was knocked out of the battle. The next catastrophe for the Allies
came when the Dutch destroyer Kortenaer was hit midship by a torpedo, broke in half and sank.

Soon afterward, the British destroyer Electra was sunk by three Japanese destroyers.
Allied fire managed to damage the Japanese Asagumo forcing her out of the battle. As dusk approached,
Doorman withdrew to regroup his scattered fleet and attempt to swing around the Japanese screen to hit
the enemy transports. At 2125, the British destroyer Jupiter struck a mine and blew up.
At 2300, the Japanese spotted Doorman’s cruisers and succeeded in sinking Java and De Ruyter.
The Perth and Houston withdrew to Batavia. The Japanese had won handily.

Think how terrifying it must've been to read the paper each day,
worrying and hoping that our brave soldiers and sailors would be able
to stop Japan and Germany from taking over the whole world.

A shot of Chinaco to those men, many of whom never came home.

FOX has always been the class act of the network, right?
Today's USA Today says Fox is scheduling celebrity boxing matches.

First up is Tanya Harding vs Amy Fisher.

Two criminal bitches (one tried murder) fighting for men's entertainment.
Way to go, Fox, you shameless gaggle of total and complete whores.

Next up is a Patridge vs a Brady, like we give a flying "F" what they're up to.

Third up is Paula Jones, but they haven't found anyone to fight her yet.
I, BartCop, (even tho I'm not a celebrity) volunteer to fight Paula Jones.

I don't believe in hitting a woman, ...but in this case...

"No doubt some other ex-Enron employees, their life savings long gone, would

Buried under the avalanche of accusations that Catholic priests have abused
hundreds of Massachusetts boys over a half-century are an untold number of
cases of female victims whose lives were also ripped apart by molesters in the clergy.

 Perfect!
"We're not that weird - we rape girls, too!"

 Religion is always the problem.

...and when you write me to complain, please send a copy of the letter you sent

In 1983, 50 corporations controlled the vast majority of all news media in the U.S.
At the time, Ben Bagdikian was called "alarmist" for pointing this out in his book,
The Media Monopoly. In his 4th edition, published in 1992, he wrote "in the U.S.,
fewer than two dozen of these extraordinary creatures own and operate 90% of
the mass media" -- controlling almost all of America's newspapers, magazines, TV
and radio stations, books, records, movies, videos, wire services and photo agencies.

He predicted then that eventually this number would fall to about half a dozen companies.
This was greeted with skepticism at the time. When the 6th edition of The Media Monopoly
was published in 2000, the number had fallen to six.  Since then, there have been more mergers
and the scope has expanded to include new media like the Internet market. More than 1 in 4
Internet users in the U.S. now log in with AOL Time-Warner, the world's largest media corporation.

...and all six are Republicans, that's why the media is gushing over President Stupid.
