Yesterday I was bored about 12:20 in the PM and I tuned in your
pal Pigboy.
He was in the middle of crying that the Today Show had devoted a whole
show
to Bruce Springsteen instead of him. He was asking who cared what Springsteen
had to say about the war effort or anything else for that matter.
I wanted to call in with these questions...
Rush...what did you do in the wake of 9/11?
Did you appear at any charity concerts for the victims?
Did you personally call any of the wives of victims? Springsteen did.
Springsteen read obituaries of victims who were fans of his and called
two widows
out of the blue and spoke with them for up to 30 minutes. Did you ask
your millions
of listeners to contribute to any of the many funds that were set up?
Did you organize
any of your Republican bigmouths to do some sort of celebrity thing
to raise money
for the victims? No, you went on the air and complained about your
taxes.
You spent your time complaining about your pocketbook, as usual.
Actually Rush...who cares what YOU think about anything?
Why don't we give Bruce a TV talk show at 3 AM and see if it folds
as fast as yours did?
Bruce fans would stay up all night to see him talk but your fans slept
thru your show and it failed.
Rush...here's an idea. Why don't you announce that you will
be doing your show from the
boardwalk at Asbury Park and see how many people show up. Do whatever
you want.
Do your old Jeff Christie routine and play records. Make it a Republican
rally.
Call out all your troops. On the other end of the boardwalk we'll put
Springsteen with an
acoustic guitar and no amplification. Let's see who draws a bigger
crowd. Bring a list of the
charity shows that you've done and we'll compare it to a list of the
shows Springsteen has done.
In the wake of 9/11, I saw precious few Republicans pitching in for
the relief effort.
Let's compare how much money Bruce has raised for charity in the last
20 years to the
amount you or the entire Republican party has raised.
Springsteen is a real problem for these right wing freaks. No
sooner had Rush gone off the air
when he was followed by Hannity praising the new album. Hannity played
what was probably the
first full rock record played on WABC in the last 20 years from the
new album and he loved it.
The rest of the WABC right wing assholes are still pissed at Bruce's
"41 Shots".
I give all the credit in the world to the brave cops who responded on
9/11 and those who respond
everytime the call comes in, but the cops who fire 41 shots at an unarmed
man are not the same
cops who save lives everyday. If you shoot an unarmed man, people are
going to write bad stuff
about you. You are not a good cop. Hannity praised Bruce for the whole
concept of the album.
"You're Missing" is a hell of a song.
As you know, the new album is inspired by 9/11. I'm quite sure
Bruce didn't sit down and say
"I can make some big bucks if I do an album about it". Springsteen
will bring the story to every
town he visits on the tour and people will walk away from every show
with feelings that Rush
could never elicit from his audience in a million years.
BTW...Bruce will be on Letterman Thursday and Friday nights.
I hear Letterman knows Bruce's drummer. Whether you like his music
or not, he's a great
American and he doesn't sit on the sidelines and watch his bankroll
grow like so many artists.
Musically, the new album won't produce any "Born to Run" but it'll
do. The subject matter
doesn't lend itself to rock anthems. He is still writing new stuff
all the time and he still shows up
at Pony at 2AM on a Sunday night to jam with the house band.
Whateva...just tell Rush to STFU.
Just another thought.... Bruce can walk anywhere and people
treat him like any other guy.
Rush can't go out in public because so many people hate him that he
needs bodyguards.
I'd bet Bruce could tell me how much a quart of milk costs. I'd bet
Rush couldn't tell me
anything costs because he has people who do that sort of thing for
him.
Sad fact....both Bruce and Rush own classic Corvettes.
