What does Rush think of Colin Powell?
"The State Department, you know you can
put what
they're worth in a thimble, and
then fill it with bourbon."
It figures - Powell is the only half-sane guy in Bush's cabinet.
Subject: insist, my ass!
That NYWT editorial you posted today ends with
these words,
"If the government has not changed its mind,
Judge Doumar
should insist that it comply with his well-reasoned
order."
Insist? How is he going to insist?
I insist that he issue a bench warrant for those
who defy his order
- John Ashcroft and his simpering Pentecostal
minions.
I'd love to see marshals clap that self-annointed
SOB
in handcuffs for defying the order of a federal
judge.

Jeff, good point.
No matter what the laws says, the Crooked Court will
rule for any illegal position Ashcroft and Usurperboy take.

Yes and no...
Like most men, sometimes I feel like doing that, but if
I was president and had that idea,
I'm sure my Chief of Staff would have the same reaction you did
and tell me to knock it off.
Also, that was in the "bonus section" that, according to the counter,

Bart,
I enjoy reading your column daily, however i
question your allegiance to the democrat party.
I understand why you are angry with their pussiness--so
why do you still support them over
the Green party, etc, to the point where you
accuse them (and thusly, Michael Moore) of
aiding the Republicans? I know the logic:
a vote for them is a vote taken away from Democrats,
perhaps this cost Gore the election. Yet, why
would you want those pussies (Democrats) to get
into office--merely because they're "better"
than Republicans?
A third party has to start somewhere.....
Derek Longwood
Derek, I call it the Jimmy Page theory.
A few years ago, Page got the itch to play live again. He could've
held open rehearsals for weeks or months
to find a drummer, a bass player, a keyboard, a singer etc. Then he
could've shopped around a few months for
an airplane hanger to rehearse, then shopped around for a label and
looked for management and then hire a tour
manager and then get together with this hopefully-compatible bunch
and write enough songs for a two hour show.
That's what we'll call Option One.
Option Two was joining the Black Crowes.
They met, jammed and started playing live shows right away.
Sure, we could build a newer, better party (but not behind Nader) and
maybe in 40 years we might have
enough of a base to challenge the GOP. But what makes you think we'll
even have a country left after the
Bush Family Evil Empire (who Nader put in the White House) gets
done looting the Treasury?
We can't wait a generation or two for this war to start.
It needed to start in the summer of 2000, but Gore was ...sleepy...
Dear BC,
I just heard a news blurb about the White House
stepping up
security (AGAIN) and it occurred to me that the
terrorists HAVE won.
Let me explain.
OK. They choose to torpedo the WTC not too long
after Dim Son's stolen the White House
--I figure they thought we'd go to pieces because
of the disputed election and his
oh-so-evident lack of smarts and capacity to
even pretend to be President.
Well, unfortunately, he managed to look like he
was big and brave (yeah, sending OTHER
guys in to do the searching and killing--that's
brave all right), the American masses decided to
let him have whatever power he said he needed
to get the terrorists, and it's gone downhill from there.
1. We find out they've set up a secret,
non-elected, backup shadow government
(you know, just
in case Washington is destroyed);
2. Dim Son et al are trashing the Bill of Rights and the Constitution at every turn;
3. Dim keeps requesting more power to do whatever he wants and getting it (yikes, this REALLY scares me);
4. he's planning to invade Iraq for no damned
good reason (which we actually know is to "wag the dog"
to help his buddies
during the November elections--so he can take over even more power);
5. instituting even more security at the
White House (HIS house, not ours anymore
--and he doesn't even
want to be there).
As all this rattled through my brain, it occurred
to me that the terrorists had, indeed, won.
Before W and his pals are through, this won't
be a democratic republic anymore; W will be dictator
(puppet with Cheney and Rove pullling the strings,
of course) and those of us who are upset about
all this will need to flee to some other country.
I don't know about you, but I'm really starting to get scared.
Your fan,

Subject: Ann Coulter, Logician
I just read Ann Coulter's great interview by Scoobie
Davis in which she claims
that liberals are ill-equipped to argue logically
(I'm paraphrasing in polite terms).
This coming from a woman who's primary mode of
argument is not logic, but obfuscation,
whose values are shaped by belief in a invisible
man
who lives in the sky.
You know, I'm a scientist and most of my friends
and acquaintances are scientists - condensed
matter theorists, molecular biologists, organic
chemists, etc. We're far from perfect people,
but we are professional logicians and the great
majority of us are ideological democrats.

When the economy goes bad
Republicans
always blame the Democrats
They're doing it right now, as we know.
For an earlier example, consider Reagan's first term.
From 1979 to 1981, I was working for a
company that did condo conversions. They obtained
loans to fix up buildings, sold condo units,
then repaid the loans quickly when interest rates were low.
But around 1981 the interest rates shot
up to such a high level that the banks told them they had to
cut expenses in order to service the loans.
Well, who was president in 1981? You guessed
it, Ronald Reagan! But Republicans said there was
some sort of delayed effect from the Carter
era. Nonsense! Reagan was running the country and
had to take responsibility for the state
of the economy.

of the craziest extremists
Excerpt:
The Saudi press has launched a vitriolic
attack on what it describes as Christian
fundamentalism in the United States. One
newspaper, al-Watan, said Christian
fundamentalism was no less dangerous to
international peace and security than
other forms of religious extremism.
Another paper, Watani, said the international
media had concentrated only on Muslim fundamentalism,
forgetting that Christian
fundamentalism was just as dangerous.

Hey, it's all fear-based insanity, invented to separate
the scared from their money.
People need to throw off the shackles of superstition and embrace
science and logic.
If people did that, we'd still have the World Trade Centers standing
in New York.
Instead, we have thousands of raped Catholic boys.
