I don't mean to say anything but...
The Freepers are expecting HUNDREDS of people
for their gathering in Vegas this month.
Know how many people we have so far? Simply
put - we're losing money.
These numbers seem inversely proportional to the
number of folks who voted for Gore
as opposed to the number who voted for Bush.
So why, I wonder, are the minority able to gather more people than us, the majority?
I think I have the answer: Democrats are nice.
See, I think the reason the Freepers had enough
energy to spend every Saturday in front of the White House
protesting Bill Clinton, and the reason they
were able to collect that mob (paid, admittedly) to rough up
the recounters in Florida, and the reason they're
able to get more people to attend a political gathering is this:
HATE
Republicans are full of hate. Hate is a powerful motivator.
Democrats, on the other hand, we don't want any
trouble. We just want a nice, quiet life.
We want everybody to get along. We don't want
to hurt anybody's feelings.
We want enough room for everybody at the table.
Well, not to put too fine a point on it, that
ain't going to happen as long as we can't
get enough people to pay for expenses at a political
gathering.
Hell, when we have a link on the page that says Click, only 20% of y'all click.
Hey, I know you're busy. I'm busy.
I just started a new job, plus I do the BartCop thing,
and write for various Web sites, plus I'm freelancing
for two other papers in my area.
But, folks, how are we going to get a Democrat
elected if we can't even click on a link?
How are we going to take back the House in November
if we can't even get enough people
to come to Vegas to talk about it?
We can't even really plan anything because we
don't have any idea how many people we'll have.
If you're saving money for your ticket, that's
cool. Believe me, I understand broke.
Just drop us a line and let us know.
If you're thinking about not coming, think again.
We have to get moving as a party if we're going
to get anything fixed in this country.
And I'll tell you what, we have to generate some
revenue to pay the bills around here
at bartcop.com, or they're going to shut the
lights off.
That's not an idle threat, it's just reality.
BC and I are both working full time, and there are a lot of
expenses involved with this Web site, and they're
growing every day. We can't keep up with it anymore.
The hammer is getting too heavy to carry on our
own.
Come on, guys: Democrats, liquor and gambling?
John Ashcroft will have a cow.
Isn't that worth the price of admission?
Side note from Bart:
It's entirely illogical that a majority of BartFest party-goers are
from East of the Mississippi River.
That makes no sense at all.
I can only assume the California people are waiting until the last minute
to decide,
but on our end, the last minute is Thursday - tomorrow.
When the folks at The Rio ask "How big a room
do you want to pay for?" we have to
make a blind stab in the dark. In 48 hours we hope to disclose
the names of some very
exciting guest stars, but that'll be the same day we have to place
the big bet.
C'mon, do a little gambling - join us in Vegas!
How can you lose with a weekend with your friends in the most exciting city in the world?
