My favorite memory of New York would have to be the
first time I tried
split pea soup at Soho Soups near Hudson Street. It was one of the first
times I had ever been to New York and having now been there a countless
number of times, this is one of my most vivid memories.
It was sometime in the middle of January and it was a usual New York winter,
freezing cold, snow a foot deep, wind blowing unbearably hard against you.
My sister wanted me to try this place that she thought was a "great little
place".
As soon as I walked in, I was immediately liked it because it was heated!
But after my ‘frostbite’ went away, I took the time to notice that all
the walls
were made of glass, so while you were eating or working, you could look
out on
the streets at the people going by. There were two levels to it, the bottom
level
was all tables filled with people crazily typing away on their lap tops
and on the
second level were the empty tables and the counter at which you ordered.
We ordered our food and sat down at a table near the window. We watched
the snow fall and the people walking through it until the waiter brought
us
our split pea soup.
I was about 12 years old and I sat in a great little place called Soho
Soups
in New York City with my big sister and ate my first serving of split pea
soup.
That is my best memory of New York.
