Report: NASA Removed Safety Advisers
Excerpt:
After an expert panel warned that its space
shuttles were facing safety troubles, NASA removed
five of the panel's nine members and two
consultants in what some of them said was a move to
suppress their criticism, The New York
Times reported on Monday.

Bart,
I just finished Susan McDougal's book.
At the top of page 168 she mentions how Starr
would use the fact that
there was "no evidence" as proof that the Clinton's
were hiding information
-- and that is the same logic that Bush43 is
using to convince us that Saddam is guilty.
OK Bob
Bob, I've noticed the same parallels.
They were going to impeach Clinton, no matter what the evidence.
All they had to do was fabricate a "crime" to accuse him.
Bush is going to steal Iraq's oil, no matter what the evidence
is.
All he has to do is fabricate a "crime" to accuse him.
This is male testosterone wildly out of control.
We have no chance to reason with the beast until after he spills his
seed.

"We have purposely staked out extreme positions

If
You Want To Win An Election,
Just
Control The Voting Machines
Excerpt:
The respected Washington, DC publication
The
Hill has confirmed that former conservative radio
talk-show host and now Republican U.S.
Senator Chuck Hagel was the head of, and continues to
own part interest in, the company that
owns the company that installed, programmed, and
largely ran the voting machines that were
used by most of the citizens of Nebraska.
Meanwhile, Charlie Matulka had requested
a hand count of the vote in the election he lost to Hagel.
He just learned his request was denied
because, he said, Nebraska has a just-passed law that prohibits
government-employee election workers from
looking at the ballots, even in a recount. The only machines
permitted to count votes in Nebraska,
he said, are those made and programmed by the corporation
formerly run by Hagel.
It can't be legal to secretly own the company that counts
the votes.
Good thing Clinton wasn't involved - this way we don't need an
investigation.

But when has he ever done the right thing?
Excerpt:
''Their minds were made up when they came into
office,'' said Finley.
''They are trying to cook the science and hide
the truth. . . . It's a sad
state of affairs that this administration
is so beholden to special interests
they'll sell something as highly prized
and special as Yellowstone.''
Bart:
Was the Challenger "Wellstoned?"
Not likely but certainly it's possible considering
the soulless cretins running both the White House
and the Conglomerate News Media. If 9-11 was
allowed to happen (or worse), blowing up the
Challenger would be simple -- and the timing
of this latest trauma EXQUISITE, considering the
Blood-for-Oil war only weeks away and pResident
Quark-for-Brains'popularity dipping.
So now, with the nation again in mourning and
our flags hanging at half mast, our brains are once
against put on ice and rational thought and dissent
is garishly sneered at by the Chest Beaters of America.
The BFEE would think all of this is just precious.

Catholic Rape watch
Excerpt:
The Diocese of Metuchen, N.J., will pay
an $800,000 settlement to 10 former
parishioners who claim they were sexually
abused by five Catholic priests.
Excerpt:
The priest molested youths throughout his
adult life. The report said he committed
assaults every other month during the 1960s
and '70s, usually targeting boys 10 to 15.
Excerpt:
A former from Chicago accused of molesting
as many as 14 boys was sentenced
Thursday to 15 years in prison for child
pornography convictions.
What the hell is the Church doing about this?
Have they scheduled another meeting in Dallas for next August?
Why are you Catholics putting up with this?
You send your boys to Catholic schools because you "know" your
priest?
In every case, the parents were shocked because "Fr. Whoever"
was "so nice."
If you're not protecting your little boys from these priests,
from whom are you protecting them?
Hey Bart,
I just wanted to write to say that your site kicks
ass.
Living in the Republican hellhole that is West
Michigan, it's nice to know that at
least somewhere in this country there are people
with common sense and decency.
I also wanted to share a thought that occured
to me while reading your site.
About sixty years ago, Adolf Hitler bullied and
coerced the League of Nations when
he invaded Poland. Doesn't this kind of
remind you of the dealings between the
United Nations and a certain unelected dickhead?
I just wanted to know if anyone else had noticed
this, or if I'm just crazy.
Anyways, keep up the awesome work!
-John
John, you are not crazy.
Bush and the B.F.E.E. are taking over the whole word.
Who can stop them?

Kiss
the Sky
by William Rivers Pitt
Excerpt:
We have returned, today, to the shroud.
Seven astronauts - Rick Husband, Kalpana Chawla,
William McCool, David Brown, Laurel Clark,
Michael Anderson and Ilan Ramon - died when
the shuttle Colombia came apart in fire
and tears while attempting to return home. The cause of
the accident is unknown at this time. We
are left only with the image of a new star in the sky, s
treaking towards Earth in a blaze of woe.
bart,
Seems to me that the loss of the shuttle is a
recurring theme with failed republican administrations.
As I remember, NASA has been fighting the GOP
for more funding for decades, only to see cuts made
time and time again. As the 'pubs steal more
and more of the People's cash, less and less funding shows
up for programs in need. It seems to me that
it is not a leap to blame the GOP for the loss of both shuttles,
and the neutering of the space program, when
you consider their slash-and-burn policies in the 80's and
in the Gingrich-led 90's. It is hard to maintain
a proper level of safety when funds for maintenance and
new equipment are cut again and again (as the
who-cares-about-the-people republican legislators have
done repeatedly to domestic programs,... including
NASA).
More blood on the hands of the party of greed, lies and hate...
F.C.
F, I heard the first shot at Clinton today, that "during the nineties"
spending for NASA didn't increase,
so I'm sure the full-court, Clinton-is-responsible juggernaut is starting
to throttle up.
Funny, in all the coverage I've seen on this shuttle disaster, I haven't
heard a whisper of the charge that
the Reagan White House pressured NASA to get Challenger
up on schedule so it could be orbiting
when Red-Ink gave that year's State of the Union Speech.
When Challenger exploded, and the WH rumor circulated,
it got a little press, but this was Saint Reagan
and the always-sheep Democrats knew it would be wrong to investigate
a sitting president, so there was
no serious inquiries into WH involvement. Now, if it was Clinton
getting an e-mail from an intern, it would've
called for a $70M investigation and three years of hearings to see
what crimes or alleged crimes may or may not
have occured, but once again, since was only a Republican possibly
involved with killing seven heroes,
the Democrats saw no reason to investigate anything that trivial.
Sidebar:
That was the B.F.E.E. at work. Reagan
had no idea what a shuttle was or why it was important for it
to be in orbit when he spoke in front of the
bright lights. It would serve everyone well to remember that
George Herbert-Herbert Bush was president from
1981 to 1993. My guess is the B.F.E.E. made a
deal with Nancy to keep Ronnie out of their way.
"You get the title and the pomp - we get the power,"
and Nancy agreed. Hell, Reagan had already been
shot - Nancy was happy for Ronnie to play like
America's Wal-Mart greeter. Her job was to keep
Ronnie in line and on-script so the BFEE could
conduct their worldwide crime sprees. You think
a real Reagan fane would be furious at Bush for
sending that poor old man in front of the cameras
to swear, "There was no "arms-for-hostages," deal.
Like with 9-11, I'm willing to make last weekend's tragedy non-partisan,
but they're GOING to blame
Clinton (even though, just like all the others, it happened on Bush's
watch) so we should prepare for that.

response to Bush's SoTU
by BartFest attendee Houston Wade
Remember 'Spider' who wanted to debate?
After missing the first two appointments, I gave up on him. But
last night he
showed up in the chat room, so we tried to do an improptu debate.
He couldn't even get out of the gate.
Remember the two rules?
1. Challenger has to know about Bush's pardons
2. Challenger agrees to bring the fight to me.
Instead of a debate, he wanted to cry, "Bad Bart!" a bunch of times.

"...the president's logic seems to go like
this: Because Hussein is not only lying about his WMD,
but also intends to use them against
us, the prudent course is for us to zap him now. But if Hussein
believes that, wouldn't his prudent
course be to use his weapons of mass destruction before we
blow them -- and him -- to smithereens?
I mean, if he believes what Bush has been trying to get us
to believe -- that the Yanks are coming
with or without the pusillanimous Europeans -- why should
he die with his own gun holstered?"

Bart,
I saw in the weekend edition you had a couple
of quotes form Crossfire on Friday.
Hell man it was Springer VS. the whole Crossfire
team and Ann.
It was the best Crossfire I have
seen yet, except the one the night before the SoTU address.
He waxed the whole crew, especially that bitch Ann, she is like Rush and the Unloved rolled into one.
You know why he did such a good job? Because he
is NOT a politician and it does not seem like
there is one behind him putting money in his
pockets and words in his mouth. Maybe dealing with
all the "guests" on his show, maybe he can better
relate to American's than anyone would think.
I would seriously consider voting for him if
I was in Ohio.
Anyway here is the link if you didnt watch it, it is worth the read.

Steve, I'd vote for Springer if he'd fight the B.F.E.E..
