Bart,
Almost no one is fighting back. As a result,
we will soon be entering into a great depression that they
will blame on Clinton, and no dem will
dare refute that. They are a bunch of pussies that deserve to lose.
Especially the so-called dem leaders such
as Gephardt and Daschle.
They have no spines.
Bill L
Well, Gephardt is stepping down - Pelosi has to be better than him.
Bart the only thing that must be happening
is that we are wrong.
Bartcop, MWO, Dem Underground, Buzz, we
are all wrong.
The country must be headed in a lot better
direction than all of us must think.
There is war on the horizon, corporate
greed has bankrupted thousands and
the stock market has plummeted. Yet
there are enough people that think we
are doing just fine. So that leads
me to believe that we are lying to ourselves.
We are seeing this all wrong. people
love the B.F.E.E., Red-Ink Raygun was
a saint and the Big Dog was just that.
Give me some hope Bart,
Tell me I'm wrong to think that the B.F.E.E
is what people want.
Please.
ed from MD.
Ed, you're wrong.
Hey Bart! Just a note to let you know
how I almost got sick this morning when I
turned on the TV and saw what happened.
I can't believe the Nazis are taking over.
At least here in Michigan we have a Democratic
governor to replace Fat Boy Engler.
But I always believe things happen for a
reason.
My prediction:
Something Big on the Horizon that Monkey
Boy won't be able to sleaze his way out of;
And the Repubs will get the blame because
they're the ones in power...
So look out, 2004!
Keep the hammer down!
Karen
I pause in my mourning the turning over
of our government to the greedy warmongers to respond
to what I keep seeing on your site about
people bitchin' 'cause you post stuff about Vegas and Garbage.
It's your damn site! Post whatever
you want!
I LOVE the band Garbage. They haven't
received nearly the respect they deserve for being one of the best
bands out there. As a regular Bartcop
reader, I appreciate the references to Shirley Manson and Garbage.
I've never been to Vegas, but I enjoyed
hearing about it.
All these people who complain about what
YOU post on YOUR website need to lighten up.
Good Grief! I really enjoy reading
bartcop.com and have recommended it to all my friends.
Thanks for all your hard work and dedication.
Love and Peace,
Linda
Subject: funny thing about Gephardt...
stepping down, you couldn't tell he was
leading ANYTHING
the way he followed the republiKKKans.
dave from joliet
I'd hate to think Gephardt is the best we can do in 2004,
but whoever is going to run needs to start running now.
Bart;
I can't begin to tell you how sick at heart
I feel today.
Now that the repugnants control congress
I fear for my kids future.
What a sad day for our country.
Flags should be flown at half mast.
George...
Well, it looks as if Rush Limbaugh has taken
complete control of the US government. I only wonder how much
torture the American people will permit
before they emerge from their stupor. What bugs me most is that Bush
will be considered to have a bona fide
mandate to do his wilding. From now on, all we'll hear is how great a leader
and what a winner he is!
Vietnam-dodging AWOL/deserter from the Texas
Air National Guard, presidential election thief, insider-trading
rip-off artist, right-wing inheritor of
Nazi-derived largess, life-long slacker, unlikely svengali to the mass-media,
pretzel-choking drunk-driving coke fiend,
religious nut, oil company whore, mean-spirited frat-boy elitist, militaristic
warmongering thug and global loose cannon,
environmental snuff-out artist, anti-choice whacko, US Treasury-emptying
big-business sugar daddy and billionaire's
best friend, embarrassingly anti-intellectual moron...
Our President. But what a nice guy!
Ugh.
Hold on to your hats, my friends.
Hate to say it, but we deserve what we
get.
Pat Monteleone
Bush gets his trifecta
Editor,
Well, Bush and his ilk have got what they
wanted -- all 3 branches of the government.
From this point on they HAVE to accept
the responsibility of EVERYTHING that happens.
They have been getting away with blaming
Clinton and the Democrats for 2 years now.
Ain't gonna work no more!!
Bush and his party can no longer blame Clinton
or the Democrats for anything.
They wanted it, they got it, it's their
fault -- good or bad.
Chris H.
Chris, I disagree.
Bush will never be held accountable for anything.
They'll still be blaming Clinton in the year 2525.
What happened?
According to Zogby, Paul Wellsone was 5 points
behind in Minnesota. Paul Wellstone voted against the war and
released an ad showing his opponent, Norm Coleman,
endorsing Wellstone and Bill Clinton 6 years ago. Wellstone
shot up 15 points in the next Zogby poll. Norm
Coleman showed up at an event the next day looking visibly shaken
and drained. (Norm Coleman was hand-picked by
Dick Cheney to run for the Senate).
Wellstone died in a plane crash with 7 others,
including his wife Sheila (who was as big of a fighter as he was).
They held a memorial service. This service went
overboard, and turned into a rally. The Republicans pounced on this
and accused the Democrats of exploiting Wellstone's
death. The Democrats, in shock, didn't properly respond for
3-4 days. (Like James Carville and bill Clinton
showed us, it's not the reality -- but the spin -- that people remember).
This memorial rallied the Republicans, turned
Independent swing voters against the Democrats, and hurt Democratic
candidates nationwide. It cost the Democrats
the Senate seat in Minnesota, Missouri, and nearly South Dakota.
(The media spillover from Minnesota to South
Dakota is huge, and the second plane crash reminded people in
Missouri of the ugly side of martyrdom and pulled
votes from Carnahan).
That's three momentous plane crashes in three
years (Carnahan, JFK Jr, Wellstone).
When do we start calling a spade a spade?
Anonymous from Minnesota
Bart,
I honestly fear for our country now that
the people have spoken and decided that it's
better to have warmongers in charge than
people who care for the citizens AND the economy.
I pray for the thousands of young men who
will die in the Middle Eastern War.
I pray for the thousands that will die
in America due to terrorist attacks in retaliation for our Middle Eastern
War actions.
I pray for the purple mountains majesty
that will be topped and mined for minerals.
I pray for the amber waves of genetically
modified grain that will be used to feed our citizens
even though
there is no definitive proof that GM food is safe for human consumption.
I pray for the gay men and women who will
have to go back into the closet now that it's somehow okay to bash them
again.
I pray for the pagans who have to pray
to a god they do not believe in out of fear of retaliation by good "Christians".
But most of all, I pray that after two
years of this, the people will see what they've done and completely reverse
their decision.
And I pray for you, Bart, that you keep fighting - because I'm too depressed to right now.
Sincerely,
Cris
Bartcop,
We Democrats lost because of the gutless leadership and meandering ideas of the "official" party.
We will keep loosing until the old leadership
is cast out and we get new national leaders that aren't
afraid to call things as they see them.
I've heard it said, but forget from where, that the people
get the elected leaders they deserve.
Maybe it isn't too late? But, after the
courts are stacked with super conservatives and the anti-people
legislation is passed and put into law
there will be no hope for many years.
It was like waking up and finding out the nightmare is for real.
Pete
With Johnson's victory in S. Dakota, the
runoff in Louisiana becomes extremely important.
Should Mary Landrieu be re-elected, the
count will stand at 49 (D) to 51 (R).
For months pundits have predicted that Lincoln
Chaffee and/or another GOP Senator,
whose name I forget, would switch parties
following the election if Republicans gained
control of the Senate and their switch
would return control to the Democrats.
So all isn't lost yet.
Eddie Joe
I'm bummed
but bc here's the bright side
Now even the pinkest tutus must see the
utter FAILURE of tutu policy.
I can dream can't I???
Annie
Annie, wish I could agree.
In 1993-94, we had the WH, Senate and House, but the Democrats
backed away
from their president so far that it opened the door for the Gingrich
Massacre of 1994.
Our side doesn't want to win.
Remember Thanksgiving 2000?
Florida Democrats wanted to eat turkey instead of counting votes.
Say what you will about the rotten Rupugs
but you AND I can thank the Pink Tutu Democrats for this mess.
Their phony centrist bullshit can across
as completely phony and left them without a message to vote for.
Unless you're a political junkie like you,
your readers and I where exactly were you supposed to hear any kind of
message?
Daschle? Gephardt? Macauliff?
We need people who will be democrats again
and stop toadying up to Bush Inc.....
God, it's going to be a long long LONG
2 years.
Never surrender,
jeff
What a day this is. I am sick to my stomach and can't eat my lunch.
What was the voter turnout like for this
never more important election?
Was it about 1/3 of registered voters?
That tells me less than half of that 1/3
who cared enough to vote understand anything
about the real issues America
must address - One sixth of registered
voters are capable of casting an informed
and intelligent ballot. The public
bought the story (the lies) and they feel good
about being ignorant sheep. We have lots
of work to do in the next 2 years.
Brian in Dallas
Can this really be? Do people really have
no idea what is going on in our country and what the true
agenda of the Republican party is? My home
state of Maryland voted for a Republican governor
-- I don't think anything could have shocked
me more. (Although my current state of Illinois elected
a Democratic governor.) Did Jeb really
win by that much? I just can't believe that people have
looked over their lives of the past two
years and said to themselves,
"Yep, I'm so much better off now than in 2000."
Lisa Marie
Subject: Ideas...
In an effort to "appease" the Republicans, Democratic
leadership has all but forgotten about their base
that is until now when we slapped them upside
the face this last cycle and ,...yes now a change is in order
and I have a few ideas I have come up with that
will solidify the base and (I believe) lead us to victory in 04'
1. Move to the left stop pretending there are no differences between "us" and the Republicans because there is.
2. redefine the word "liberal" to mean what it
means, the Democrats never should of allowed the conservatives
to demonize them so.
3. shock the shit out of the republicans
and run on a "taxcut" a FICA taxcut that everyone will see on their checks,
everyone under $100,000
a year would get a 10% break this would be a good idea and garner a lot
of support
from the majority of
people who couldn't care less about your politics as long as they
can actually "see" the tax cut.
4. Propose a "raise" for our military men &
women while cutting extravagant spending in the military on weapons
& equipment we really
dont need, make the point we already have the capability to destroy the
world many times
over and that the $$$ should
be used to pay our military familles more and instead of billions of dollars
towards
"missile defense" or "Giant
robotic transformer trucks" instead the money can be used on intelligence
and surveillance
5. Expand the "faithbased programs" to include
"secular based" programs so ALL Americans are given "choice" this
is inclusive and I think most
people would agree.
6. Propose funding for alternative fuel research
make the point this would lesson our dependence on "Saudi oil" or
other oppressive Regimes giving
us more leverage to "demand" democracy and women's freedom in these
Theocratic nations.
7. stop attacking the greens and ask them to join us, reach out to them.
Congressman Frost is complaining that the election
shows the Dems need to move to the right while congresswoman
Pelosi is saying we should move to the left I
agree with Pelisi at least for the first year to solidify and appease the
base
and move to the center during the presidential
election 04' otherwise we can watch the republicans pull another 2000
election as the greens siphon off the votes we
badly need. we must completely redefine ourselves instead of showing
America the continued sissification of the pink
tutu Democrats.
Hi, Bart,
Well, it looks like "prepare for the worst" was the right mode to be in.
WHEN are the Democrats going to learn? I happened to catch Katrina vanden
Heuval,
editor of The Nation, on CBS (they had her on at 2-4 AM this morning).
She said the
Democrats lost because they were timid, and that this vote was a huge repudiation
of the
DLC strategy of campaigning as "centrists". Looks like the "pink tutu"
contingent got its
collective head handed to it.
Bill Clinton knew better; he campaigned from the left, and governed from
the center,
a distinction that seems to have escaped slugs like Joe Lieberman. I'm
so glad Gore skipped
the DLC meeting in New York a few months back - smartest thing he could
have done.
And of course, there were ballot problems in Miami-Dade; people would select
McBride on the
touch-screen, and their vote would be tallied for Bush. People
for the American Way apparently
had a lot of complaints. Someone, it seems, programmed the machines
so no matter who you voted for,
the vote was counted for Bush. Some voters tried several times to pick
McBride, to no avail (the vote
isn't final until you hit the Vote button). So, what else is new?
I'm afraid for this country, and for the kids that will die in Iraq for
Bush's oil war.
By the time the idiots who approve of Bush's performance wake up, they
will be broke,
their kids will be dead, their Social Security will be plundered, and they
deserve all these things.
The trouble is, we don't.
Well, here's to better days - but we're not likely to see them.

Jeb Bush is my Governor,
Katherine Harris is my Congresswoman,
George W Bush is my president.
Like a lot of other people, I am hurting
right now.
Sorry, but I must admit that this donation
is more about making me feel better.
Thank you for your website which helps
me to remember that I am not alone
in my convictions. Enjoy the day...

Dear Bart,
I won't go into the weeping and gnashing of teeth
that went on in my house last night. Thank god I waited for
The Daily Show's election coverage before I flicked
the tv on to witness the unthinkable. It was quite a shock,
but at least I got the news interspersed with
humor. Thank you, Jon Stewart!
Needless to say, I'm running on an hour of sleep
today. Oh, the horror of it all! I'd rather take my chances
locked up
in a barn with Leatherface welding his chainsaw
than with a Republican-run dictatorship. We all know that for the
next
2 years they're going to party like it's 1939.
So...I guess this is what Americans wanted?
Wow! I'd like to thank all of those who found more important
things to do yesterday, other than vote.
I hope the 74% who sat on their asses like what the majority of the
26% who did vote have chosen for them.
Sure, so many Democrats wearing pink tutus didn't inspire much passion,
but do you mean to tell me the thought of ultra-right-wing,
religiously insane, soulless, mindless, bloodthirsty,
money-hungry, lacking-in-any-form-of-humanity
conservatives being handed the reigns of our government
did not inspire Americans to act?
Oh...my...God!
Right now the Republicans are making like Janice
of "The Sopranos",
busily adjusting their elephant-sized strap-ons.
I'd like to thank all of the Greens for once again
doing their part. You know, I would have loved to have
voted Green--the Green candidate in my district
stands for everything I believe this former democratic republic
should stand for. He's a dream, actually.
However, conscience and the simplest of logic wouldn't let me
waste my vote like that. And yes, you DO
waste your vote when you cast it for someone who will get
no more than 3%-5% of the tally, duh?
The races were so close and there was too much
at stake to indulge in that kind of high-minded stupidity.
Perhaps you get invisible points and feel proud
of yourself for voting "pure" even though in reality,
it means nothing--does absolutely NOTHING but
give the Republicans more power, proving you truly
don't give a shit about anything other than trying
to free that Mumia guy.
Believe me, after I'd had enough of last night's
fiasco I closed my eyes and tried like hell to astro-project
myself off this fucked-up planet to the same
fantasyliberalland inhabited by the Greens, but I'm still here
so I guess it just ain't gonna happen.
The Republicans now control every aspect of our government for
the next 2 years, if we're lucky.
THAT is the reality.
We had a helluva better chance with the Democrats
having a majority in at least one of the houses.
We don't have a prayer now, and even if we did,
who'd listen? The "god" in charge now is the same "god"
who hates "fags", minorities, women, Jews, Muslims
and anyone who nets under 100 thou a year.
This is the same "god" who the average
caller to last weeks CSpan gleefully credited with killing
Wellstone and trampling all of his dreams into
the dust--all for his newest chosen one--Dubya of Crawford.
Yesterday, Americans were able to collectively
muster up all the intelligence of a Jerry Springer guest.
It looks like the new century is going to have
its reincarnated Hitler after all (albeit with the bullet still in his
brain).
For the first time, I am sorry Clinton was
ever President. With him, we got a glimpse of what could've been,
only to have it cruelly yanked out from under
us. Goddamn, I can't get any more cynical, so I'll stop writing
this
depressing drivel and find a way to recharge.
I'm sure going to need the Bartcop website now, more than ever,
just to get through the next 2 years.
Please, please hang in there! BTW---how
to I up my subscription by 10 bucks?
If I cancel my old one, and renew to a more premium
subscription, will your contributor still match it?
MK, thanks for the donation and yes, he'll match that extra $5,
but I think this is the last month - he said he'd match new subscriptions
for six months.
He has been extremely generous, but wants to remain anonymous.
Also, great letter - those parts I put in bold were extra-good.
Write more, send it to me and I'll print it.
I understand The Military Service And Training
Act (HR 3598) was introduced in the House
by Rep. Nick Smith (R, MI) and Rep. Curt Weldon
(R, PA). And though Bush stated last spring
that "the country shouldn't expect there to be
a draft," if passed, this bill will require all young men
to report for 6-12 months of military training
and education."
Well there you have it. It isn't a draft. A draft
is a lottery.
This will be mandatory re-education and military
training.

Subject: America held hostage
Bart
Please take this one out of the Republican Play
Book.
When the new congress convenes, start the America
Held Hostage count down.
Use the graphs showing the Clinton years and
the Bush years in comparison.
The question needs to be asked over and over again.
ARE WE BETTER OFF TODAY THAN WE WERE TWO YEARS
AGO? AND SO ON, AND SO ON.
We all know we are worse off as a country today
than we were two years ago and I will bet you
we will be worse off two years from now than
we are today.
Our Democrat leaders won't fight. Someone needs
to start a fight and you site just might
get to some of our Party leaders and inspire
some kind of a fight in them.
If our Party doesn't come out fighting today
we will be totally humiliated in 2004,
It will be alot harder for our side to get the
word out, because we do not have
the PRESS ON OUR SIDE. BUT WE HAVE BARTCOP!!!
Thanks
Dick
