Although it took me a week to recover from
the shock of last Tuesday's mid-term elections,
now that I'm back to normal, there is a
silver lining to be noted in all of this: no matter what
happens from here until 2004, BUSH IS RESPONSIBLE.
No more blaming Clinton and
his previous term; no more blaming obstructionist
Democrats; no more blaming unexpected
attacks out of the blue.
From here on out, it's all Bush. This means:
* when Bin Laden strikes again and kills more Americans
BUSH GETS THE BLAME.
* when the economy continues to tank and
more people lose their jobs, because a policy of all Tax Cuts,
all the time, is not sufficient
to restore consumer confidence and encourage economic growth
BUSH GETS THE BLAME.
* when deficits continue to escalate, further
endangering Social Security and the retirement plans of
millions of Americans
BUSH GETS THE BLAME.
* when the U.S. invades Iraq and finds out
that the cost, in both dollars and American lives,
is much higher than he promised
it would be
BUSH GETS THE BLAME.
* when American women lose their right to have an abortion and start dying in droves in back alleys or in Mexico
BUSH GETS THE BLAME.
* when average, everyday Americans have
their email read by the FBI and their loyalty questioned because
they said "suspicious and
unpatriotic" things to friends
BUSH GETS THE BLAME.
* when air and water quality go down and
pollution goes up, because EPA and Federal oversight of the
environment has been compromised
BUSH GETS THE BLAME.
* when national parks like Yellowstone,
Yosemite, Arches, and dozens of other get spoiled by oil drilling
and mining damage, and national
forests like Trinity and Tahoe get clear-cut
BUSH GETS THE BLAME.
* when major corporations continue to go
bankrupt and more employees lose their jobs, their benefits,
and their 401Ks while CEOs and investment
banks go unpunished
BUSH GETS THE BLAME.
* when discrimination against blacks and
minorities increases and federal protections against hate crimes
are watered down or removed, because
conservative idealogues dominate the federal judiciary and the
Supreme Court
BUSH GETS THE BLAME.
Although no one can predict the future,
this is only a partial list of the things that are likely to happen in
the next two years, while the Right Wing
consolidates its hold on power and rams through the Bush agenda.
Up until now, Bush has been able to side-step
responsibility for many things that have happened on his watch,
most noticeably his deplorable lack of
action on credible evidence in advance of 9/11.
Now that all branches of government are
his, there are no excuses: every mistake from now on out is his
and his alone. He chose to chase Saddam
instead of focusing on Al Queda; he chose to squander the surplus
and drive up the deficit with tax cuts;
he chose to let energy policy be written by felonious corporate CEOs.
9/11 and the patriotic urge of most Americans
overshadowed a lot of glaring abuses in the first two years.
Now that Bush IS the government, the spotlight
is on full glare.
He wanted the reins, now he gets the blame.
When people see the full extent to which Bush IS his policies,
he'll end up like his Daddy..... a pouting,
one term, ex-President. His Daddy was golden after two years;
after four, he was in the national catbox.
Stay focused on the silver lining.
Erik
Eric, that's what's SUPPOSED to happen, but Bush will never be
held accountable for anything he fucks up.
Reagan and Bush 41 just blamed everything on Carter, and the
all-white media agreed.
Everything will be Clinton's fault until the end of time.
