Subject: XXXX WHERE DO
YOU STAND? XXXX
Bartcop:
50 million Americans voted for Al Gore on Tuesday.
A majority of Florida voters believed they voted for Gore on
Tuesday.
There is a legal process in place for those who believe they
were disenfranchised
due to fraud or error to have their grievances addressed after
an election. There is
nothing illegal about pursuing such avenues. They exist
to protect our democracy
from installing into office a different candidate than the one
selected by the people.
Of the 50 million who voted for Gore, one might expect about
10 million to throw up
their hands in the next few days out of boredom or angst about
the above processes,
or a lack of understanding about them, and ask for Mr. Gore to
concede.
Of the 40 million remaining who voted for Gore, one might expect
that by the time
the absentee ballots are counted on November 17, another 10 million
will believe that
because of boredom or angst about the above processes,
Mr. Gore should concede.
Of the 30 million remaining who voted for Gore, one might expect
them all to support
in theory the fight by the Palm Beach citizens to have their
votes count, and have the will
of the majority of people of Florida reflected in that state's
final results.
Of that 30 million, one might expect that 20 million will have
their beliefs, but be silent
and not demonstrate their belief through any action at all, and
because of boredom or angst,
will avoid the topic.
Of the remaining 10 million, one might expect 5 million will
offer their opinion when the topic
comes up at the water cooler, but will take no further action.
Of the remaining 5 million, one might expect half of them to
bring up the topic at the water cooler,
but take no further action.
Of the remaining 2.5 million, one might expect them to write
columns, write letters to the editor,
phone talk radio programs, post messages on the Internet, send
money to legal funds, and take
other actions. One might expect them to FIGHT to have the
will of the people reflected in the
result of this election.
If the final result of this fight is that Mr. Gore, the winner
of the popular votes nationwide and
in Florida on election day, is confirmed as the President of
the United States - 50 million
Americans who voted for him will benefit, yet only 5% will be
responsible for his victory.
95% will have abandoned their obligations as American citizens.
