 How was this lightweight able to join the White House press corps in the first place, alongside John King,
 Ron Hutcheson, etc.? Did the necessary background check reveal his fraudulence? It appears he attended using
 daily passes, rather than a "hard" pass, although there is some debate about that. McClellan says he knew the man
 was using a pseudonym. Did he know all the other stuff?

 Thank you the Dr. Thompson quote site.

 Dr Thompson is a fairly substantial part of who I am today and I suspect, a part of who a lot of people
 that read him during their impressionable years.  Dr. Thompson either helped me keep my sanity while
 reading him in the early 70's or he helped tip me off the edge.

 Interestingly, his mad fast and most times breathless scribbling made it possible for a 19 year old to hang
 from the edge of sanity with one hand while waving the other  wildly and yell loudly about perceived social
 implications of quantum mechanics, crooked politicians, cautious recreational drug use and fast loud cars.
 I survived.

 Leaving a crappy job in a steel mill in 1974 seemed a lot more acceptable because I read Dr. Thompson on my midnight shifts.
 I never finished journalism school but I got out of the mills.

 Go out and buy at least one more Rolling Stone magazine.
 I stopped reading it when I bought one for a boring flight from Chicago to L.A.. The mag was more boring
 than the flight.  But tonight I picked it up and the whole  issue  is pretty much dedicated to Dr. Thompson.
 It gives a lot of insight into Dr. Thompson's last days and some really funny stuff from Jann Wenner.

 However it was Stalin purging them that caused it, not the Nazis.

 I've always wondered about how Adolf Hitler could have been stopped in the 1930s during his rise to power.
 And I've blamed the German people for not having stopped it from the beginning. But at the time nothing like that
 had ever happened before and our world barely escaped a one world evil empire.

 Suppose the same thing were happening today and we can all see it coming - what are we to do?
 Are we going to sit back and let it happen again - or are we going to nip it in the bud?
 We know better now and with today's technology we no longer have the excuse that we didn't know.
 We can say that we don't see the same thing coming because it is so obvious.

 When telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act there can be no denying that we have a responsibility to act
 and to prevail. So I ask the people of the world one simple question, "Are we going to sit back and allow it to
 happen again - or are we going to rise up and stop it?" We simply can not sit back and allow this to happen.

 I wouldn't rule out bush getting what he wants for Social Security.  All he has to do is get Greenspan

 on network and cable news and the sheeple will go for it.
