 by this little gambit, and they must realize there's no advantage to them if the tube is reinserted.

 notice how the Prez skipped out and let the Guv take the heat? And has the Prez made any

 I was indoctinated into the Catholic Church run by Jesuits in the early '60's. 
 The only thing that saved me from losing my mind was the skills I learned in public
 high school dealing with critical thinking, and classes studying the "Great Ideas" 
 authors (Plato, Locke, Rousseau, etc.). 

 What these studies encouraged was an enjoyable and relentless search for the truth
 - wherever it may lead.  People with this type of attitude do not make good "pliable" 
 citizens that can be swayed by rhetoric.  Is it any wonder that the GOP constantly 
 attacks public education and supports the growth of religion?

 Bart,

 During all of this discussion I keep thinking of the comment of Christopher Reeves' mother 
 when her son passed away.   Her intelligent, caring comment was to the effect that she was glad 
 her son would no longer suffer.  Do you not agree that is the comment of a truly loving mother? 

 Compare that to the wish of the Schindlers who prefer to have Terri continue in a state few of us 
 would want for ourselves while the news (?) media keep talking about them as caring parents.

 But Mitchell fled out the store's back door before police arrived, he said. 
 

 You don't ever want to try to rob a gun store.
 I've been in several, and the employees are always armed with Glocks & Sigs and you
 have to figure they know how to use it and they feel comfortable about pulling the trigger.

 I have another friend who has an e-mail that is often confused with that of the biggest 
 behind-the-cameras slug at FOX News.   You know the guy - Rush's former TV producer.

 He, too, is getting mail from people begging him to put this n that on the FOX airwaves.

 The responses these people are getting back are spectacular but I'm afraid they're

 We now have "red facts" and "blue facts." 

 Newspapers -- hoping not to upset either faction of their potential circulation -- have no intention
 in taking sides in such disputes. Thus two competing sets of claims, two very different sets of facts, 
 two opposing narratives, are treated as equally valid. News reporters, unlike sports reporters, 
 feel no responsibility to check the scoreboard, or even to acknowledge that there is a scoreboard. 
 They tend to deny the possibility that a scoreboard might even exist.

 In the case of Terry Schiavo there is such a scoreboard, and what it tells us is nowhere near as murky 
 and ambiguous as the AP's Q&Q or CNN's vapid, incurious coverage would suggest. The facts of the

 By intervening in the sad dispute over Terri Schiavo between her husband and parents, 
 the President and his Congressional allies have again revealed how little respect they have
 for any conservative or constitutional principle that doesn’t enhance their partisan power. 
 In the name of defending human life, they have swept aside their own party’s traditional 
 commitment to federalist respect for state law and to the separation of powers between 
 the legislature and the judiciary. In the name of equal protection under the law, they have

 Under civilized rules of debate—particularly over a matter as emotionally disturbing as

 observe with a straight face.
