 Quote of the Day

"I saw Bush's remarks on Peter Jennings. Went like this:
'I heard about the death of Peter Jennings. Peter Jennings
was a newsman. Peter Jennings covered important stories. Peter Jennings will be missed. God rest his soul.'
Then he
walked off. The only thing missing was 'Now watch this drive.' "

 'Braveheart,' Edward I & George W. Bush

by Robert Parry at  consortiumnews.com

  Excerpt:
However justified George W. Bush and other politicians of today might regard their military operations
in other lands, those wars carry the heavy risk of creating martyrs and enflaming hatreds that could outlast
any short-term objectives, just as Edward I's brutality against Scotland did.

That is one reason why leaders with deep historical perspective really do treat war as a last resort,
rather than a casual means for achieving some geopolitical end.

Cindy Sheehan to be arrested Thursday

  Click  Here

  Excerpt:
Cindy Sheehan phoned me from Texas a few minutes ago to say that she's been informed that
beginning Thursday, she and her companions will be considered a threat to national security
and will be arrested. Coincidentally, Thursday is the day that Rice and Rumsfeld visit the ranch,
and Friday is a fundraiser event. Cindy said that she and others plan to be arrested.

So, Bush can brag he arrested and prosecuted the very dangerous Cindy Sheehan, Tommy Chong
and Martha Stewart, meanwhile his oil partner Osama is still running loose and planning attacks.

 Subject: pissing people off

 Bart:

What's going on right now is that you're getting a dramatic increase in people who feel
they can relate to you, and identify with you.  Because they find they can agree with you
on most things, they get taken aback when you show signs of being able to think on your own.

But you should consider this a growing pain.  It has to do with higher visibility, not less.
You are on the verge of something.  Soon, you will either grow beyond your expectations,
or you'll disappear altogether.  See?  Not as bad as you thought, was it?  :-)

Memo to the Monkey and Rummy

  Click  Here

  Excerpt:
My husband, Sgt. Kevin Benderman, was sentenced to 15 months confinement, loss of rank,
forfeiture of pay and a dishonorable discharge last week, the charge being "Missing Movement"
or failure to get on a plane. [Like Bush in 1972 when he was too coked up to pass a physical]
In actuality, the charge was "filing a Conscientious Objector packet against the recommendation
of his commander, who had no intention of allowing my husband to follow his conscience, and
therefore serving notice to the rest of our military that they should not follow suit." I need to assure
you that I do not make this statement out of anger, but rather by simply pointing to the facts.
Not only did my husband's commander address this in a public comment to the media, the
prosecutor used this in his closing statements, and the military representative was adamant
about this in his public comments to the media immediately following my husband's court martial.

Each day that goes by, we get closer to the time when all the men in Iraq
are there because they want to be there, assuming four years is the maximum
amount of time the military can own you against your will
which might mean, then, that everyone in uniform in Iraq is a Bush sap.

If you watch Bush crap on all veterans and then join up,
don't look for me to defend you.

 Subject: the coming FCC crackdown

Hi Bart,

Maybe I am just getting paranoid in my old age, but I wouldn't put any death past the current regime in the White House.
I am closely following the numerous scientists who are dying (I think it's up to 52 now) by rare cancers, mysterious accidents,
and flat out murders - all of which are notoriously underreported by the conglomerate-owned press!

That aside, I caught the tail end of Laura Flanders who is subbing on AAR (the show before Mike Malloy). Her guest was
talking about the new FCC agenda. From what I could gather, the FCC is giving more authority to the cable/phone companies
to limit what their subscribers can and cannot watch. This is not just "suggesting" as does AOL (pushing certain movies, stock
sites, etc.) but giving these companies the power to put small providers out of business and actually blacking out sites which
they find objectionable.

Should this happen (and sounds like it will) there will be no need to "kill" off dissenters when the powers that be can just
black them out. Another rung on the Bush ladder of descent down into Hell?

With all the hundreds of billions those bastards have stolen and are stealing,
they still want more - they want it all.

 Random thought...

When the first Arab nuke explodes in Israel, people might ask,
"Why didn't they just move away from their enemies?"

When that bomb goes off, the mother of all wars will start.

The sacred sand means more to them than the lives of their children.

 Subject: Hiroshima

Bart, sounds right to Americans who need to justify the second bomb, but the historical accuracy of the
statement concerning surrender and the second bomb is in serious question. Japan's infrastructure had been
almost totally destroyed, the government in Tokyo did not even know what had really happened in Hiroshima;
who could tell them, the people in and around Hiroshima, those still alive, were in devastation and shock.
It is not clear that the Japanese in the capitol were even aware of what had occurred even as the second bomb
was dropped, surrender would have been inevitable after the first bomb.

Everybody my age knows more about this than I do.
Thanks for saying the accuracy is in question instead of, "You lying piece of shit."
It's nice to talk to an adult.

But I don't buy it - that Tokyo didn't really know what happened.
They had to know Hiroshima was mostly gone and that the first reports were ultra-horrendous.

The second was a science experiment and had no real connection to the decision to surrender.
Truman and the generals were not playing poker, they were playing mad scientist.

You're saying the second bomb was different from the first.
You're saying the second bomb was a science experiment and not "raising the stakes" in poker.

I'd like to hear more on that.

 Subject: reply to John Kerry

 Dear Mr Kerry,

I have given a lot of thought, but after reading Mark Crispin Miller's report in the latest
Harper's Magazine, I dont believe I will be contributing to any more of your campaigns,
or any other special issues you happen to endorse. As Mr Miller points out, there were,
 and are, egregious examples of voter malfeasance committed in Ohio last November;
all one has to do is read the Conyer's Report to find the details.

And while I did vote for you last Fall I sure wasnt happy with your performance during
the campaign, as you chose to bring a water pistol to a knife fight. Karl Rove and his lackeys
were obviously out for blood, but you choose to not respond in kind, even after every poll
demonstrated that the more you took the fight to Bush the better you polled; even after they
called you a coward, and disparaged your honorable war record you chose to go.....wind surfing.

Thus I see no reason to give you any money, especially after you promised that every vote
would be counted, you setup a team of lawyers to help make this so, and then you.....conceded.

Even when there were international observers in Ohio, you did nothing to support them when
they were illegally excluded from the vote counting process. How can you sleep at night knowing
that the election may very well have been stolen from you and you let it happen, that you are
culpable with the serious erosion of democracy in this country?

If you wish to restore any of the credibility you once had, you should resign.

Bush Signs Massive Energy Theft Bill

  Click  Here

  Excerpt:
Bush on Monday signed sweeping legislation that provides billions of dollars in
tax subsidies to energy companies, yet does little quickly to ease gas prices or
lower America's reliance on foreign oil.

"This bill is not going to solve our energy challenges overnight," Bush while signing the bill.
"It's going to take years of focused efforts to alleviate those problems."

Translation:
I'll have to give more billions
to the super-rich oil companies every year.
Then, when the Treasury runs dry and there's no more money for Social Security,
I'll say "I don't have a magic wand," and your Grandmother can go screw herself.

Oil hits record high on manufactured 'threat'
Who told you oil was going to $100?

  Click  Here

  Excerpt:
Oil prices hit a record high $64 Monday after "warnings of militant attacks" Saudi Arabia
and on manufactured handjob worries about refinery outages in the United States.
(If only the liberals would let them drill in Yellowstone and Yosemite.)

As the United States shut its Saudi embassy in response to Bart's Law #2 manufactured threats,
Bush crony Blair warned that militants were in the final stages of planning strikes in the kingdom.

Concerns over the Saudi situation coincided with news that another U.S. refinery had run into
output problems, adding to pressure on gasoline supplies in the world's biggest consumer during
 peak summer demand

Once again, a "threat" known only to the oil men who run the world is upon us, and the more
danger we're in, the more the idiot public looks to Bush to save them from this "terrible threat."

Once again, BIG OIL has been blindsided by the tricky calendar, for the summer vacation
season has snuck up on them and - surprise - there's a shortage of oil.
(If only the liberals had let them build more refineries on the California coastline.)

 Two Jackson Jurors Regret Acquittal
They can sell more books with this "regret" handjob

  Click  Here

  Excerpt:
Two of the jurors who voted to acquit Michael Jackson say they regret their decisions.
Jurors Ray Hultman and Eleanor Cook kick off their book tours on MSGOP's "Rita Cosby: Live and Direct."

In a preview, Cosby asked Cook if the other jurors will be angry with her.
"They can be as angry as they want to. They ought to be ashamed. They are the ones
that let a pedophile go," responded Cook, one of those who let a probable pedophile go.

"The thing that really got me the most was the fact that people just wouldn't take those blinders off
long enough to really look at all the evidence that was there," said Hultman, who voted to acquit.

Explaining the turnaround by Cook and Hultman, just talk to Larry Garrison,
who is working with both on their separate books and a combined television movie.

 Oh, the power of money.

Christopher Reeve's Wife Has Lung Cancer
Who says God doesn't have a sense of humor?

  Click  Here

  Excerpt:
Dana Reeve, who spent nine years caring for her husband Christopher
until his death last year, announced Tuesday that she has lung cancer.

Reeve, 44, said she decided to disclose her illness following rumors in the media.

"I have recently been diagnosed with lung cancer, and am currently undergoing treatment,"
"I have an excellent team of physicians, and we are optimistic about my prognosis."
Their son, Will, is 13 years old.

If your husband didn't recently die after nine years of being paralyzed,
if your mother didn't die this year from ovarian cancer,
and if you haven't recently been diagnosed with lung cancer,
you should feel pretty lucky today.

In ABC's Peter Jennings eulogy, they said most lung cancer patients die within 2 years.
Lung cancer is a cold-hearted mother.

  Excerpt:
There are those who argue that the best rationale for invading Iraq was to ease our dependence
on Saudi Arabia's massive oil fields, which might allow for a more rational or moral relationship.
Yet the dark irony is that with Iraq in chaos and its oil flow limited by insurgent attacks and a
bungled reconstruction, Saudi Arabia is now more important to the United States than ever.

It's scary, but these gaping contradictions don't seem to trouble our president a whit."

 Bartcop,

I know President Bush drives you nuts every day.
Regardless, President Bush is our President for 4 more years.

So - soldiers will die for four more years for no reason...
  I hate that.

I think that is great. I don't care what his ratings are.
He's not running again. He's a lock until January, 2009.
Yes, he'll be President until 2009. Get used to it.

I can handle it - but what about the military families?

 Quit complaining you whiner.

I can handle it - but what about the military families?

I never complained during the 8 horrible years of Clinton

Nobody ever heard of you befoere - how would we know?

Now Bush has to put things back together that Hillary and Bill
damaged severely. State Department, Attorney General, CIA, FBI, etc.

Yes, Bush has "changed the direction of America," like he promised.
Our peace and prosperity have turned to shit.

He'll have things put back together by 2009 when the next Republican takes over.
