Iraq & the Logic of Withdrawal
   by Robert Parry on  consortiumnews.com

  Link

  Excerpt:
If the Americans and other Western forces weren’t in Iraq, however, two changes would likely occur:
first, the draw for radicalized Islamic youth to infiltrate into Iraq and become suicide bombers would
have disappeared; second, Zarqawi’s limited usefulness to the Sunnis would soon dissipate.

There would no longer be Americans for Zarqawi and his terrorist band to target and the loss of new recruits
would minimize any value his organization would have in battling the Shiites. Zarqawi’s remaining terrorists
would quickly become more a liability than an asset – and thus a target of Iraqis from all religious sects
.

Quotes

"The president's cavalier dismissal of Cindy Sheehan is emblematic of a greater problem.
This is a mother who raised her son to love his country enough to serve...And when the worst
does happen, when the world comes crashing down and she puts her son in the ground, what does
that government say to her? It says 'We'll do the talking; we don't need to hear from you.' "

Ex-FBI Whistleblower to join Camp Casey
This thing's getting bigger than the White House can control

  Link

  Excerpt:
Former FBI whistleblower Coleen Rowley, along with a state senator whose son died in Iraq,
are headed to Texas this week to join a growing anti-war demonstration near Bush's fake ranch.

Rowley, now a Democratic candidate for Congress, and Sen. Becky Lourey will join Cindy Sheehan's
vigil coinciding with Bush's summer vacation. She has said she won't leave until the president meets with her.

"Our children are dying and I think it's time to go support Cindy and see if Bush will come out and
we can say, 'President Bush, what is the mission exactly?' Truth has been shifting all around and
we need to rejoin the world community and not occupy another nation," Lourey said.

A while back I said if you want to torment a Bush lover, ask them "Why did Bush send troops to Iraq?"
The monkey immediately has to choose - do you go with the fake WMD answer or the fake "spread democracy"
answer - it puts them in a bind and once their off-kilter you move in for the kill.

Trust me, this is how Vietnam came to an end - one voice at a time.
One by one, each cowardly member of congress will realize this is their political ass on the line.

The "I love war" gang might be very small come November, 2006.

 Hijackers' ID'd before 9/11

  Link

  Excerpt:
A military intelligence team investigating al-Qaeda identified four members a year before they became
9/11 hijackers, according to an officer on the intelligence team. But he says that the FBI did not get the
information and that the 9/11 Commission failed to expose the lapse.

Bullshit!

That Handjob Commission had no intention of discovering anything.
That's why the BFEE's personal security guard, Lee ("I see nothing!!!) Hamilton was appointed
by the guilty parties to "turn over every rock," and the clueless Democrats fell for it - again.

The intelligence team, called Able Danger, collected information on al-Qaeda, including links
between members and the activities of terrorist cells worldwide. It is unclear why Able Danger
members did not draw attention to their findings immediately after the attacks.

Gee, I wonder if they were ordered to cover this up?
After all, a hundred and thirty million dollars a day is a lot of motivation.

Subject: Mr. Negative

Bart:
I am not going to swear at you like some of your other readers.
But, I have to tell you that your site is getting more and more difficult for me to read.

For a while I was a daily reader.
Now, it's falling off to one or two times a week.
The reason is real simple: you are negative about everything.
You have gone after Jay Leno, Tiger Woods, Peter Jennings, Mick Jagger, and Shaquile O'Neal.

I guess all these people are not perfect like you are.
And, the millions of people who admire each of these fine people must also be dolts,
because we are just not as smart as you either.

Bob in San Diego

Bob, are you saying I should be positive, like you?
Are you saying I should only comment on happy and cheery stories?
Are you saying Jay Leno is a funny and inventive comedian?
Are you saying it's a good thing when TV cameras cut to Tiger Woods lacing up
his golf shoes, causing the viewers to miss the putt that tied up the tournament?
Are you saying Peter Jennings was a good reporter who covered important stories
like the thousands of brave men dying in Bush's bloody quagmire and not Clinton's zipper?
Are you saying it's a good thing that Shaq gets $30M and that families
can no longer afford to go to a basketball game because of such salaries?
Are you saying Mick Jagger was right to kiss Bush's ass for his Ameriquest Massa?

 Subject: Russell Crowe

Bart, you wrote:

> "Do I want to live in a country that would allow that?"

It was Crowe's decision.
Do you want to live in a country that would prohibit that?

First, I love tangling with a lawyer.

Second, I strongly disagree this was "Crowe's decision."
His lawyer probably said, "You can lose the $15M now, or you can gamble
and maybe lose $25M and your right to enter America - it's your choice."

What's next?
Paying five million for stepping on a man's toe?

My point is $15M for a scratch is crazier than Bob Dornan.

Crowe is being legally blackmailed for $15 million.

Nobody took that money from Crowe. He certainly didn't pay that money
because he was afraid a jury might pop him for that kind of money on those facts.
Either Crowe is running scared or the facts aren't what they seem to be.

I disagree about the jury, I agree about what facts we're certain of.

Juries are almost always more rational than that.

Hmmmm, ...I can't think of a reply.

Notorious B.I.G.'s Family to Refile Suit

Crooked cops must pay a price

   Link

 Excerpt:
Notorious B.I.G.'s family is asking the city for more than $2 million in fees and costs
stemming [just from] police misconduct during the rap star's federal wrongful death trial last month.
Once they settle that, they can get back to the larger issue of the wrongful death.

The request comes after the judge in July declared a mistrial, determining that a police detective
had intentionally concealed documents. The judge ordered the city to pay "fees and costs
incurred as a result of defendants' misconduct."

Motions filed request that Los Angeles pay about $1.6 million in attorneys fees and around
$500,000 for travel and other expenses, attorney Perry Sanders Jr. said Tuesday.

It's one thing to fudge the facts trying to keep a blow job secret.
It's very different when you lie about a murder-for-hire that involved crooked cops.

GOP asshole jailed for Texas cross vandalism

..
This is how they respect the dead?

  Link

  Excerpt:
Larry Northern, 59, faced $3,000 bail Tuesday after witnesses said he swerved his pickup truck
in and out of a display of crosses set up on the side of the road by anti-war protesters.

The crosses represented the U.S. troops who have died in Iraq, with individuals' names on each.
Northern was charged with criminal mischief over $1,500 and under $20,000.

I hope they put him in a cell with a demo war veteran with temper issues.

Pirro's husband denies payoffs

  Link

  Excerpt:
Pirro's husband sayshe was saddened by a news report about a daughter he fathered during an adulterous affair.

Albert Pirro says he has a good relationship with his 22-year-old daughter, who he had (Wow! How'd he do that?)
during a fling with another woman in the early 1980s.

He disputed claims that he only recently began mending fences with his daughter in order to keep her from becoming
a campaign liability, including a promise to buy his suddenly discovered daughter a new car.

This race is already over!

I guess "Hillary's hit squad" made him screw that woman 22 years ago?

Rush - still trying to hide the truth

  Link

  Excerpt:
A Palm Beach County judge ruled Tuesday that prosecutors couldn't question any of Limbaugh's doctors
without first notifying the vulgar Pigboy. That would give His Oinkness's lawyers a chance to fight the
subpoena issued to question the doctor and to raise privacy concerns before a judge.

Limbaugh, 54, a fascist bastard, has been under investigation for suspected doctor shopping
-- secretly obtaining overlapping prescriptions in a 30-day period.

The Tuesday ruling goes back to some of the same issues that have swirled around the investigation
since junkie Rush got caught sending his maid out into the dark of night to buy hillbilly heroin.
Tuesday apparently was the first time prosecutors attempted to interview any of Limbaugh's doctors.

And nearly four Americans are dying every day to help establish Iran's new client state."

 Candlelight vigils support Cindy

..

  Link

 Excerpt:
Protesters against Bush's bloody quagmire, energized by Cindy Sheehan's brave vigil outside
Bush's fake-ass ranch in Texas, held rallies across the USA to support her Wednesday night.

The murder-for-no-reason protesters, who hoped to hold 1,500 gatherings, were being mobilized
by liberal groups opposed to Bush's oil snatch. They asked their followers to attend candlelight
ceremonies dusk in cities from DC to LA to support Sheehan, whose son died in Iraq.

Meanwhile, Bush stubbornly remains on his five-week vacation.

So, I'm beginning to have my doubts about Bill Clinton.

 Battle fatique is setting in

  Link

  Excerpt:
US public opinion on the Iraq war is nearing a tipping point. The question is how elites -- the White House,
the military, Republicans and Democrats in Congress -- will now respond. The public has grasped that the
Bush Iraq policy has made the Middle East more dangerous for US armed forces and US national interests.
This reality is widely sinking in, except to a narrowing circle of Cheney, Rumsfeld, and a compliant Bush.

Is there anything that could happen that would enable us to win this bloody quagmire?
Does Bush think the suiciders will change their minds and stop blowing up people?

IF we're going to have to get out sooner or later, what reason do you give the widows
and parents for why their loved ones died after that realization has been made?
"It was a noble cause?"

How many hundreds or thousands of lives will be sacrified
so the I-don't-make-mistakes Cowboy can save face?

Quotes

"Cindy makes them realize they're losing control of the narrative. For four years, conservatives
have answered any criticism by invoking the flag, the troops, and of course 9/11 itself. But "the troops"
are not an ethereal concept or a moment frozen in history--they are individuals, each with their own
stories, not all of whom are going to happily hew to the party line. (I hear tell that some of them may
even be--gasp--Democrats.) Cindy Sheehan drives this home. As the mother of a young man sacrificed
on the altar of George Bush's hubris, she has the moral authority to challenge the precarious worldview
they've constructed, and deep down, they know it."

 Chilling with the Bike Monkey
Bush is having the time of his life

  Link

  Excerpt:
President Bush explains the rules for people who go mountain biking with him.

It will be a vigorous workout. It is not a race. And no one, the president says with a smile,
is allowed to pass him. "This is a chance," he says, "for me to show you a little slice of heaven."

For two hours Saturday, the Bike Monkey leads his guests on a 17-mile ride through the canyons
and woods of his fake ranch. He loves it, a hot Texas morning and an exhausting ride.
Life doesn't get much better.

A slice of Heaven under Bush?

I guess that depends on who you ask.

Our Unfeeling President
Bush doesn't know what death is...

  Link

  Excerpt:
"He does not mourn. He doesn't understand why he should mourn. He is satisfied during the course
of a speech written for him to look solemn or a moment and speak of the brave young Americans who
made the ultimate sacrifice for their country. But you study him, you look into his eyes and know he
dissembles an emotion which he does not feel in the depths of his being because he has no capacity for it.
He does not feel a personal responsibility for the 1,000 dead young men and women who wanted to be
what they could be...To mourn is to express regret, and he regrets nothing."

Subject:  quote from Bull Moose

Hello BartCop

I keep hoping you'll take it to the next level so that's why I write in.
Bull Moose says..." the war is being lost by a gang of incompetents...."

I think this is very misleading.

From where I'm sitting the war seems to be a huge success.
How can you be losing a war if the profits are so enormous?
Isn't that the point of attacking another country??
