Judge
Roberts's Slap at Women
by Robert Parry on consortiumnews.com
Link
Excerpt:
As the equal pay for women issue heated up in
early 1984, Roberts wrote two
tartly worded memos, which showed which side he was on.
The first – to his boss in1984 –
denounced the notion of equal pay for comparable worth,
saying “It is difficult to exaggerate the perniciousness of the
‘comparable worth’ theory.
It mandates nothing less than central planning of the economy by judges.”
Note: consortiumnews.com is the most important site on the internet.
Roberts and his "women are stupid" theories could affect
every uterus in America.
I wonder if the Democrats can find a way to make this an issue in defeating
Rove's boy?
I hear another quote on CNN. Roberts said something
like, "The idea that
housewives could become lawyers - is their any reason to be pushing
that idea?"
Will the Senate Democrats vote this caveman in?

Monkey's quamire like Vietnam
Does this make Hagel the 2008 GOP front-runner?
Link
Excerpt:
Chuck Hagel says the United States is "getting
more and more bogged down" in Iraq
and stood by his comments that the White House is disconnected from
reality and losing the war.
The longer U.S. forces remain in Iraq, he said, the more it begins to
resemble the Vietnam war.
Hagel mocked Cheney (Lying oil man)'s assertion
in June that the insurgency in Iraq was in
its "last throes," saying the U.S. death toll has risen amid
insurgent attacks.
"Maybe the vice president can explain the
increase in casualties we're taking," he told CNN.
"If that's winning, then he's got
a different definition of winning than I do."

Reality
of war spoils Bush's vacation
by Helen Thomas, one
of the few - she's honest
Link
Excerpt:
I remember first hearing the phrase "noble cause" in the 1980s
when President Reagan referred to
the Vietnam War in those terms, apparently trying to erase the bad memories
of that unpopular conflict
that divided the country. President George Herbert Walker Bush picked
it up and often spoke of
Vietnam as a "noble cause."
Now the label has been resurrected for the war in Iraq. With that conflict
going badly and the American
public showing signs of impatience, the administration is alternately
seeking to rally support with the
"stay the course" chant or vague promises that U.S. troops
will start leaving Iraq "soon," whenever that is.

Worm Attacks U.S. Media Giants
There are a lot of headlines like "Bot Attacks
U.S. Media Giants" as if the computer worm
were targeted at them. But my question is - where were their system
administrators?
The news agencies reported the vulnerability a week ago.
Then they reported that a worm was in development.
Then they reported that Microsoft developed a patch to fix the problem.
Now they are complaining about being hit.
My question is - why didn't the tech staff at
the news agencies download and apply
the security patches that Microsoft provided before the worm hit?
Although it's a nuisance, these attacks are a
part of online life these days and are generally
preventable by keeping current on all the latest patches and having
a properly configured
firewall to keep intruders from getting in. If their tech staff were
listening to their news reports
these news agencies wouldn't have been hit.
If I were CNN, ABC, and The New York Times I
would be asking their own tech staff
why they didn't install the security patches rather than imagining that
they were targeted.
And - if you're running Windows, always install the latest patches.

Subject: Cindy Sheehan
Dear Bart,
I took my 9 year old son to a candle light vigil to support Cindy Sheehan.
We stood with hundreds of like minded people on 24th and Camelback in
Phoenix.
It was very strange because cars were passing
and honking in support!
Phoenix is ridiculously Republican but I think Cindy is causing the
Kool Aid to wear off.
I'm sure the administration is scrambling to counter this movement.
They will need to stage something big to suppress these uppity peasants.
I pray that this is the beginning of the end for the most corrupt president
of my lifetime.

The
Crawford Bunker
by my good friend Alan Bisbort

Excerpt:
There she sits, in the Texas heat outside Bush's little cowboy ranch,
day after day, as the fat cat Republicans
in their air-conditioned pimpmobiles, Hummers and limos drive back and
forth along the route to Bush's
sagebrush bunker, which is always open to them but never to the nearly
2,000 grieving mothers of the soldiers
who've died in Iraq. They slow down to get a peak, and undoubtedly crack
jokes at Sheehan's expense,
laughing among themselves inside their soundproof, bulletproof, mirrored
metal bubbles, and then speed on
to their fund-raising or oil-policy appointment with Bubble Boy.
It was callous enough that Bush sped past Sheehan
on the way to a fund-raising event the other night,
leaving her to ask the obvious, if rhetorical, question, "Why do
you make time for donors and not for me?"

Excerpt:
Crawford, Texas - I had no interest in visiting the vacation retreats
of evil nincompoops. Having just returned
from the Voting Rights March in Atlanta, I was plum (peach?) tuckered
out. But my absolute abhorrence of the
war prompted me to accept Randi Rhodes’s request that I travel
to this particular end of the earth as the Camp
Casey correspondent for her Air America Radio show.
I was to go for only a few days, but like many
US military personnel I found myself pressed into extended service
in a stop-loss program. In this case the loss that needed stopping was
that of thousands of lives in Iraq. As tough as
it is on the ground in Crawford, I’d be much more uncomfortable
anyplace else. When you get to know Cindy and
other Gold Star Families for Peace, abandoning them to the untender
mercilessness of the fire ants, scorpions,
water moccasins, rattlers, and Bush functionaries that slither about
the president’s prairie playground becomes
an unattractive option. Besides,
I haven’t had this much fun in years.

FOX

Excerpt:
The conservative attack machine is in high gear in the efforts to
tear Cindy down.
That made me think of how it would have been
in the Civil Rights era if Fox News
and the rest of the gang were around back then.
O’Reilly: “Rosa Parks
claims she speaks for all of the African-Americans in the South,
but in fact, we have found two African-Americans who say they disagree

Hannity: “Coming up next, the incredible story of how
this woman might be deceiving the whole country!”
Pigboy: “Rosa Parks sat in the

No, Rush would've been a lot meaner than that. He'd
be playing the Jefferson's Theme song and screaming,

Settlement Rejected
LA wants to gamble with their crooked cops
Link
Excerpt:
The Los Angeles City Council on
Wednesday voted to reject an $18 million settlement offer in
the federal wrongful-death lawsuit brought by the Notorious B.I.G.,
victim of dirty LA cops.
"We're giving the city the chance
to stand up and do the right thing and not be painted with the
really ugly brush that people in the LAPD could be painted with,"
attorney Perry Sanders,
hinting that there are more dirty deeds to be revealed about LA's
crooked cops.
Last month, the judge declared a mistrial in
the case after embarrassing revelations surfaced
that city attorneys and the LAPD failed to provide key documents that
linked two
crooked cops now behind bars to the crime.
"To my knowledge there's been no connection established with
the police department," Councilman
Dennis Zine told Reuters. "Why would we pay if we're not culpable
of anything? They're trying to hold
taxpayers responsible, and based on the media reports I've seen there
has been no link [to Mack and Perez]."
Hey Denny, read that sentence in bold.
If your cops are innocent, why did they hide material facts to the
murder trial?
You've been caught once, and it cost you $2 million.
Why are you looking to get caught a second time?
You'd better have an all-white jury.
Try to get those same people who declared the Rodney King cops innocent.

Subject: Iraq
changes minds
As a mother, I empathize with Cindy Sheehan and her plight, and I
want to thank her for making such
a valiant effort to save other mothers' children from dying in a needless,
unnecessary war of choice.
As a Vietnam-era veteran, who volunteered to
serve my country when George Bush was jetting around
Texas in his National Guard champagne unit and my friends were being
drafted, I find it ironic that the
National Guard, used as a way to avoid service in the 1970s, is now
sending large numbers of soldiers
to Iraq, leaving many states, cities and communities without first responders
such as police and firefighters.
My brother-in-law was one of the unlucky "back-door
draftees," thanks to Bush's stop-loss order and
has recently returned from a year's tour in Iraq. He was a former Bush
supporter turned opponent.
Do the same people who are smearing Sheehan have
the nerve to call a returning Iraq war veteran
"unpatriotic" or a "flip-flopper" like the right-wing
spin machine is doing right now, including Bill O'Reilly,
Rush Limbaugh and Michelle Malkin? They'd
better not because, according to the polls, well over half
of the country has "changed their mind" about Iraq.

9/11 commission was told of Atta cover-up
Link
Excerpt:
A longtime Army intelligence officer went public with his allegations
about a cover-up in the 9/11 investigation,
Lt. Col. Anthony Shaffer, 42, confirmed that
he had been a source for previous reports about a secret
data-mining operation known as Able Danger, which he said had
identified Mohammed Atta and three
other 9/11 suicide hijackers in 2000, more than a year before the terrorist
attacks.
Shaffer said that his unit had contacted the
FBI repeatedly during 2000 to warn that a US-based terrorist cell
was at work, but three times was forced to cancel meetings to brief
the FBI at the instruction of the Strategic
Operations Command (SOCOM), the Pentagon unit in charge of all counter-terrorism
work.
Why didn't the Pentagon want Atta watched, arrested or investigated?
What if the people who suspect the worst ...have no idea how
much worse this is?

It was a bunch of pics of Iraqi kids hugging soldiers, and Iraqi people

That might take him away from the grim reality of 1800+ dead soldiers
and more to come.
By the way I don't remember seing any pictures of raw sewage flowing
