Is Bush al-Qaeda's 'Useful Idiot'?
by Robert Parry at consortiumnews.com
Link
Excerpt:
If Western intelligence agencies are right – that
the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq and the
two-year-plus military occupation have been recruiting boons for Islamic terrorism
– why is it logical to commit American troops to an indefinite deployment
there?
Won’t that just create more terrorists?
Put differently, has George W. Bush’s Iraq
policy done more to help than hurt al-Qaeda,
from Bush’s hasty decision to redirect U.S. military assets from Afghanistan
to Iraq while
Osama bin-Laden was still at large, to the loose talks about an American “crusade,”
to supplanting Iraq’s secular government with one favoring Islamic fundamentalism?
In the 1980s, when I was covering the wars in
Central America, neoconservative theorists
liked to call U.S. peace activists “useful idiots” because their
opposition to the hard-line
Reagan administration was seen as unwittingly aiding and abetting communists
and other
leftist enemies. In that vein, is Bush now al-Qaeda’s “useful idiot”?

Karpinski said. “And then a handwritten message over to the side that

two exclamation points.
And that was the only thing they had. Everything else had been confiscated.”
Karpinski tried to get information, but “nobody
knew anything, nobody – at least, that’s what
they were claiming. The Company Commander, Captain Reese, was tearful in my
office and
repeatedly told me he knew nothing about it, knew nothing about it,” Karpinski
said. But in a
later plea bargain he entered into after the Taguba Report came out, “Captain
Reese said that
not only did he know about it, but he was told not to report it to his chain
of command, and he
was told that by Colonel Pappas. And he claimed that he saw General Sanchez
out there on
several occasions witnessing the torture of some of the security detainees.”

GOP: 'Price of gas killing us'
Link
Excerpt:
As consumers feel pain at the pump, record high gas prices are
registering as a political problem with congressional Republicans.
At a town hall meeting this week, Rep. Jack Kingston
(R-Ga.) wanted to talk
about Social Security and Medicare, but the session quickly turned to gas prices.
When Rep. Shelley Capito (R-WV.) toured a VA clinic,
the first question put to her was:
"What are you going to do about the high price of gasoline?"
"People are mad as hell," Sen. Lindsey
Graham (R-Known Liar) said.
Republican candidates facing tough races in 2006
should be worried, said Tony Fabrizio,
a Republican political consultant.
"If I were a guy in a marginal race, I would
be all over the oil companies," he said.
"I'd be getting ahead of the curve right now, hauling them before my committee,
holding
hearings throughout my state — maybe introducing legislation to cap their
CEO salaries."
Yes, that's what Democrats could be doing if they weren't quaking
with fear.
Can the Democrats think of a way to make gas prices a part of their
campaign?
Or will Bob Shrum
advise them that that's a loser topic for Democrats?

I'm driving out to Crawford, Friday August 26th to help
put up a White Nationalist voice
in the protest against Bush's War for Israel that
was started by Cindy Sheehan.
We'll be uploading digital photos, and maybe video,
from Crawford so that Stormfront's

the
events in Crawford from a White patriot perspective.
If you live anywhere within a driving distance

That would be one way for the White House to make Cindy go away:

American Legion screws up
They've declared war on free speech
..Link
Excerpt:
The American Legion has declared war on antiwar protestors, and the media could
be next.
Speaking at its national convention in Honolulu, the group's national commander
called for
an end to all “public protests” and “media events” against
the war.
They're calling for the end of the First Amendment.
What did Bush promise this group to get them to rescue him?
"The American Legion will stand against anyone and any group that would
demoralize our troops,
Will you stand against anyone who would lie to start a war to steal
$130M a day?
or worse, endanger their lives by encouraging terrorists to continue
their cowardly attacks against
freedom-loving peoples," Thomas Cadmus, national commander, told delegates
at the group's
national convention in Honolulu.
That underlined phrase?
It's impossible to define - so why are they using that in their threat?
Who's to say the failure of regular Americans to praise Bush at every opportunity
would not somehow be encouraging terrorists in
the eyes of overzealous Republicans?
The delegates voted to use whatever means necessary
to "ensure the united backing of the
American people to support our troops and the global war on terrorism."
No, you can't have that - are you crazy?
Besides that - you're cheating.
You're mixing Bush policies and the troops - just like the White House
does.
By cheating, you're admitting you can't win if you play fair.
You position is so weak - you have to "sneak" your point past
us?
You guys need to get to work on that retraction,
just like Pat Robertson did.
"It would be tragic if the freedoms our veterans
fought so valiantly to protect would be
used against their successors today as they battle terrorists bent on our destruction.”
No, tragic is America deciding to let one, old white republican take
all our voices away.
You ask for too much - and you can't have it.
He explained, "No one respects the right
to protest more than one who has fought for it, but....
Interesting how you have to follow common sense
with " , but..."
but.... we hope that Americans will present
their views in correspondence to their elected officials
(He means we can only complain secretly, because Godly Bush is above criticism) rather
than
by public media events guaranteed to be picked up and used as tools of encouragement
by our enemies."
Sir, it seems that having fewer dead soldiers is not one of your
goals here.
Why are you looking the other way when you know Bush's lies have
killed 1863 ...so far?
Like I say, I'm waiting for that retraction.

Fred Phelps again

Excerpt:
Anti-gay preacher Fred Phelps has caused an international royal gay flap
over accusations that
Sweden's King Carl Gustaf is gay. Phelps, who runs the God Hates Fags website,
makes the
allegations on his newest site - God Hates Sweden.
The preacher who built his reputation by picketing
the funeral of gay college student Matthew Shepard
is angry over a Swedish court ruling that a fundamentalist minister broke
that country's hate speech law
during a fiery speech against homosexuality.
Phelps' site calls Sweden "a land of sodomy,
bestiality, and incest", and goes on to say:
"The King looks like an anal-copulator, & his grinning kids look slutty & gay."
Why do all Bush voters sound exactly the same?
Fred Phelps, Pat Robertson, the vulgar Pigboy, Ann Coulter, Michael Savage
- the list is endless.
If you hate blacks and gays, people will send you lots of money to manufacture
lies about them.
Playing to the base of all bases, they steal money from the ignorant,
the bigoted and the scared.
They can't make money fairly - they have to trick the retarded southerners
into giving them money.
Have you ever heard Rush brag about getting fired from seven or eight
different jobs?
He couldn't hold a f-ing job - his whole life - until he stumbled upon ignorant
hate radio.

The most rested president in American history headed West

"I'm kind of hangin' loose..." he told reporters.
Bush is acting positively French in his love of le loafing, with
339 days at his ranch since
he took office - nearly a year out of his five. Most Americans, on the other
hand, take fewer
vacations than anyone else in the developed world, averaging only 13 to 16

U.S. troop casualties in Iraq are at their highest levels since the invasion.
So our overextended

Dwight Gooden Surrenders to Cops

Excerpt:
Former baseball star Dwight Gooden, sought by police since he fled a DUI
traffic stop three
days ago, turned himself in. Gooden, 40, showed up at the jail warrants facility
about 5 p.m.
He had been missing since Monday, when he was pulled over on suspicion of
drunken driving.
He twice refused to take a sobriety
test, then drove away suddenly, police said.
He was being held under a $3,000 bond...
What? $3,000?
For fleeing police, DUI and resisting arrest?
Oh, that's right - he didn't have any dangerous weed on
him.
That would've resulted in $50,000 bail because pot is so dangerous.

Bart:
Re Crowe and 15m.
I send a comment - hopefully you'll share it so others will understand.
This is Jimmy the Lawyer - we're
so close,
he often speaks to me more frankly than some people...
In Tort cases there are intentional and unintentional Torts.
Intentional torts are such things as battery, assault,
etc., where the defendant
intends to harm the person he injures. Intentional torts
create a different type
of damages which can be recovered by the plaintiff. They're called punitive damages.
ha ha
You mean Punitive?
Function: adjective
Etymology: French punitif,
from Medieval Latin punitivus,
from Latin punitus,
past participle of punire :
inflicting, involving, or aiming at punishment
ha ha
Dude, I'm Catholic.
We know all about punitive and Latin is just one of my languages.
The basis of punitive damages is how much
it will take the defendant to learn his lesson and act like
a responsible citizen. The jury is allowed to look into how much money Crowe
makes, and how much
he has stored away in accounts and property, and then determine how much
of that they will have to
take away in order to get Crowe to sit up and take notice. The jury has determined
here that it will
take $15m to get Crowe's attention.
So, we agree that their behavior was outrageous?
Dude, I can't fault you for your youth and inexperience.
I know Crowe has been painted with the violence brush
but does he have any convictions?
A man of
his means, I could see a $25K first offense, a $200K second offense
and maybe a million dollar third offense, but $15M for the FIRST offense?
Sidebar:
Jimmy, you know who Andy Griffith is - you've seen that old show?
Do you know where it came from?
It was one of TV's first spin offs - from The Danny Thomas Show - Make
Room for Daddy
Danny Thomas was a big shot TV star who blew thru Mayberry at 70 MPH. Andy
arrested him
and said, "That'll be a $10 fine," and
Thomas peeled off a twenty and said, "Keep
the change."
Andy decided he needed to be taught a lesson so he
(illegally) raised the fine to $200 and Thomas
refused to pay, choosing to "do the time," instead where he learned
his lesson from Opie and thus
was born The Andy Griffith Show.
I went thru all that just to let you know it's not
a new concept, making the rich pay more.
I just think paying
$15M in blackmail money for a first offense is a little steep.
They have merely based this on his confidential financial information which
you know nothing of,
but they do. It's kind of like rapping a donkey over the head with 2x4.
ha ha
Knowing Crowe's background for
repetitive violence, do you doubt that it would take 15m of his
money
to get him to think twice about doing it again. If they just demanded the
medical bill being paid, wouldn't
Crowe just decide, "Hell, it's worth 1500 bucks to lay this guy out."
Jim H.
Jimmy, I agree with you in principle but not $15M worth.

slain son, Casey, from heaven,
suggesting he's calling Bush "an idiot," and she claims to have "tens

supporting her cause to bring home immediately American troops serving in
Iraq.
Cindy also reflected on the days
immediately after Casey's birth, noting, "I looked in his
eyes
and it looked like he could tell what I was thinking. That's very disarming
when you have
a week-old baby looking at you, and you know he knows what you're thinking."
So, if you believe in the afterlife that's proof you're insane?
That's an odd position for a Republican to use to smear a military mom.
And if a mother feels like she's connecting with her baby,
that's proof
that she's nuts and shouldn't have an opinion on Bush's bloody
quagmire?
