World

Excerpt:
The world has watched amazed as the planet's
only superpower struggles with Katrina,
with some saying the chaos has exposed flaws
and deep divisions in American society.
World leaders and ordinary citizens have expressed
sympathy but many have also been shocked
by the images of disorder beamed around the world
-- looters roaming the debris-strewn streets
and thousands of people waiting for Bush to pull
his head out of his ass.
"Anarchy in the USA" declared Britain's best-selling
newspaper The Sun.
"Apocalypse Now" headlined Germany's Handelsblatt
daily.
Many newspapers highlighted criticism of Der Monkey.
They compared the
sputtering relief effort with the massive resources
poured into Bush's bloody war.
"A modern metropolis sinking in water and into
anarchy -- it is a really cruel spectacle
for a champion of security like Bush," France'sLiberation
newspaper said.
A lady in South Korea said it may have been no
accident the U.S. was hit.
"Maybe it was punishment for what Bush did
to Iraq," said the woman.

I think it's a shame that in this hour of crisis

This man does not deserve his job. He is a failure.
His complete lack of empathy,
his utter clueless incompentence, and his imperial
hubris make him unfit to command
the fry station at a McDonalds. His complete
cluster fuck of the country of Iraq is
debatable - in some fringe realm of neocon reality,
it's debateable. But with New Orleans,
there can be no debate. The Federal government,
under his "leadership," has failed to deal
with the crisis in Louisiana and Mississippi.
Failed. Utterly. Miserably.
At the cost of God knows how many lives. How many
people will be buried, uncounted, in mass
graves and thus save this man from having that
number tattooed forever upon his forehead?
And do you know why this happened? Neither do
I! Neither does anyone else!
There is no reason for this. Come on! We are the
US of fucking-A. We are America.
One company, Federal Express, could handle the
disaster relief far better than what is
being done now. But no one has asked them to
step in. The US Postal service could be
delivering food, water, and supplies to every
neighborhood hit by the hurricane - but no one
has asked them to do it.
This is the president's job. It's his job to go
on television and ask for people to step up,
ask people to make sacrifices, don't drive unless
you have to, don't run your air conditioners
unless you have to, stay home, telecommute, conserve,
sacrifice for this crisis. It's his job to
ask companies to eat the cost of feeding and
housing the hundreds of thousands of refugees.
Every hotel from the Gulf of Mexico to San Antonio,
St. Louis and Miami ought to have its
doors open to refugees to stay free of charge.
Three squares and a bed - send Washington
the bill later. We have umpteen million hotel
beds in this country - there is NO REASON
that people should be sleeping in the Astrodome.
There is so much that can be done with a FUCKING
PHONE CALL when you are the
president of the United States. What the hell
is he doing? Where the hell is the help?
There's nothing you can do about a hurricane.
People who couldn't get out of the way
are going to die. But afterwards!!! ---- every
single uninjured person who dies as a result
of neglect should add 20 years to the jail sentence
of George W. Bush. His failure to act
is criminally incompentent. He is responsible.
He should be held responsible.
He should resign today. He has provided ZERO leadership
so far - he won't be missed.
At least then, everyone else, from mayors to
governors to National Guard commanders,
could begin to act on their own initiative and
something might actually get done to help these people.

Hey Bart,
There have been widely publicized studies over
the years about what happens
in a disaster on the scale of New Orleans.
In the first 36 to 48 hours people act altruistically,
helping whomever and whenever they can.
After 48 hours, people start to act in their
own interests. Order breaks down, looting begins
and chaos ensues. It doesn't matter whether you're
talking about poor blacks and poor whites,
or nice middle class folks -- the breakdown pattern
is the same.
You can't tell me the people in FEMA and Homeland
Security are not aware of that 48 hour
timetable. So, why the fuck weren't they doing
anything earlier?! Now, in the midst of chaos
and suffering, all they can say is they are going
to restore order at all costs.
Come to Canada Bart, we'd never let our politicians

The crews for three U.S. Customs Blackhawk helicopters

in Florida are "livid" because they have not
been directed to provide full-time support for the
ongoing hurricane-relief effort in the nation's
Gulf Coast region, according to Mark Conrad,
a former regional Internal Affairs supervisor
for U.S. Customs.
Conrad says instead of helping people hurt by
Katrina's wrath, the Blackhawk's actually
were slated to transport a CNN news crew to take
video shots of those people. U.S. Customs
and Border Protection leadership in Miami is
behind the press-play strategy, Conrad says.
"They have three Blackhawk helicopters and crew
just sitting there doing nothing, just so they
can look good for CNN. The crew is livid," Conrad
says. "They made one trip earlier and flew
over Biloxi, (Mississippi) where there are dead
bodies everywhere. Those are highly trained crews
and Blackhawk helicopters can carry a lot of
food and water. They could be doing something."

Bush

Most of us have seen the TV footage where Bush
made a comedy act of his failure
to find WMD. Before an audience of national media
figures, Bush pretended to search
in all directions, saying, "Where are those weapons
of mass destruction? No weapons here!
None over here either!" Although the WMD excuse
was Bush's original rationale for
convincing soldiers to put their lives on the
line in Iraq, he was comfortable laughing about it.
For all his high-toned talk about the glory of
battle, Bush never personally faced combat
and neither have his two daughters. Despite his
lip service about respecting the troops,
Bush has made light of their sacrifices.

money really go?
Hey Bart,
Not wanting to dampen people's desire to help
out the victims of Katrina, but is the Red Cross
the only way to go? In an e-mail from my church,
my pastor said, "We *know* that 95% of the
proceeds will go to helping the people" if we
used the Lutheran Disaster Response.
This made me wonder about the wisdom of relying
solely on the Red Cross to help people on
the Gulf Coast--who knows what percentage of
donations actually go to the victims?
I know that people went crazy after 9/11 and gave
hundreds of millions of dollars to the Red Cross.
I also remember that there were questions about
how well those funds were distributed afterward.
Has there ever been a proper accounting?
The way things are in the world, I don't trust
anyone to make a good decision that would help
the most people in the best way. Everyone's out
to make a buck and screw others over,
no matter what, even in the face of total disaster.
Very bummed out and totally disgusted by the absolute
lack of leadership from ANYone,
Sharon in Minnesota
Sharon, it's my guess the Red Cross is OK.
The 9/11 Red Cross problem, I think, was they
got so much money they said
they'd put some aside for the next disaster such
as the one we're seeing right now.
O'Reilly thought that would be a great opportunity
for some cheap publicity
so he attacked the Red Cross and the FOX Whore
Network backed him up.

Market Killed New Orleans

Excerpt:
The free market played a crucial role in the
destruction of New Orleans and the death of thousands
of its residents. Forewarned that a momentous (force 5) hurricane was going
to hit that city and
surrounding areas, what did officials do? They played the free market.
They announced that everyone should evacuate.
Everyone was expected to devise their own way out
of the disaster area by private means, just like people do when disaster
hits free-market Third World countries.
It is a beautiful thing this free market in which
every individual pursues his or her own personal interests
and thereby effects an optimal outcome for the entire society. Thus does
the invisible hand work its

When you combine limited government with incompetent

America is once more plunged into a snake pit
of anarchy, death, looting, raping, marauding thugs,
suffering innocents, a shattered infrastructure, a gutted police force,
insufficient troop levels and
criminally negligent government planning. But this time it's happening

W. drove his budget-cutting Chevy to the levee,
and it wasn't dry. Bye, bye, American lives.
"I don't think anyone anticipated the breach of the levees," he told Diane
Sawyer.
Shirt-sleeves rolled up, W. finally landed in
Hell yesterday and chuckled about his wild boozing days
in "the great city" of N'Awlins. He was clearly moved. "You know, I'm going
to fly out of here in a minute,"
he said on the runway at the New Orleans International Airport, "but I
want you to know that I'm not
going to forget what I've seen." Out of the cameras' range, and avoided
by W., was a convoy of thousands
of sick and dying people, some sprawled on the floor or dumped on baggage
carousels at a makeshift
M*A*S*H unit inside the terminal.
Why does this self-styled "can do" president always
lapse into such lame "who could have known?" excuses.

Guns again
We haven't talked much about the looting, the
beatings and the rapes.
Two weeks ago, good liberals in Louisiana had no reason to own a gun,
right?
When evil men are told there is no police presence,
they start wilding.
If a certain woman catches their eye, they rape
her.
If they see a car or truck they want, they shoot
the driver and just take it.
Life is such hell in Louisiana I haven't heard of
any home invasions,
but I have something for you "guns are bad" liberals
to ponder:
I read this
on usatoday.com
Michael Mansion said carjackers held a knife to
his throat Wednesday and stole
his Nissan pickup. "I guess they needed a truck,
so they could go try to rob a store."
Mansion waved his hand up and down the boulevard.
"There's a body floating there
around the corner, with five shots in his head,"
he said. "They put bricks on him to
hold him down. And there's two others around
up there."
Welcome to Bush's Amerikkka.
With the Butcher of Baghdad running the planet,
how safe are you?
Two weks ago, nobody in Louisiana gave this any
thought.
Can you count on your local police?
If a big disaster hit your town, will the cops
be there for you?
The last thing I'd ever want to hear is, "We
should've taken Bart's advice,"
because you were unarmed when roving gang of thugs took overl
your city.
The times I've argued with you "guns are bad"
liberals, the best answer to
"What would you do if you confront a burglar
in your home?" is
"What are the odds of that happening?"
If that cop-out ever held water, does it still - with Bush in charge?
There's no telling how many tens of thousands of jihadists were
created by Bush
and you see how well your government responds when a major disaster
hits.
So if the bad luck happens to you, and you have to defend yourself,
what will you do?
When they kick at your front door
How you gonna come?
With your hands on your head
Or on the trigger of your gun?
If the shit hits the fan, you'll be owned by whichever thugs
walks by.
Think about that.

He slammed that guy, Brown, the head of FEMA,

because he was a fund raiser for Bush. A fucking
fund raiser! Some kind of experience for the head
of national emergency.
Koppel asked him some pointed questions about
the chaos and mismanagement going on in
New Orleans and Brown just kind of mumbled, shuffled,
and deflected. He couldn't answer
direct questions! This shows the world the utter
incompetence that permeates the Bush Administration.
Repuglicans are even pointing to the incompetence.
Did you catch Bush lying again, saying that there
was no previous warning concerning the levy break
only to have officials counter right afterwards
saying they've been warning Bush for years?
Bush is toast.
The incredible mismanagement of this Administration
is now being broadcast on national TV
and other main stream media. They can no longer
hide it. It's the beginning of the end ...
But, that's just my opinion.
