"What the hell happened to the idea of an opposition
party? They should oppose Roberts
because they oppose him; that's what they
were elected to do: oppose people who believe
what people like Roberts believe...And with
Patrick Leahy announcing that he is voting
for Roberts, one is tempted to conclude that
the Democrats are just plain hopeless as an
opposition party and the Republicans will
get yet another chance in 2008 to destroy what
remains decent and hopeful about America."

What to
Do About the Bush Problem
by Robert Parry at consortiumnews.com
Link
Excerpt:
The stark question now before the country is:
Should it sit still for the next three-plus years of Bush's
presidency or demand accountability, including
possibly the removal of him and his political team from office?
Though it's true that impeachment of both Bush
and Cheney would be an extreme step, this constitutional
option must be judged against the alternative
of a continued national leadership that is facing worsening crises
while known for a trademark refusal to admit
mistakes or to make meaningful adjustments to its policies.
Over and over, Bush has made clear that he has
no intention to reverse himself on any of his core decisions,
which include the Iraq War, tax cuts weighted
toward the upper incomes, tolerance of record budget deficits
and rejection of the chief international agreement
on global warming, the Kyoto Treaty. (Bush even questions
the overwhelming scientific consensus on global
warming.)
So, the hard choice is whether the country would
be better off starting this political battle now with an eye
toward a change in control of Congress in 2006
or simply waiting for the next presidential election in 2008.

Loves Woman-hating Roberts
Says he has a record as a "fair-minded"
woman-hater
Link
Excerpt:
Roberts did not expressly say how he would rule
if asked to overturn Roe v. Wade. But if Judge Roberts
abides by what he said about how he would approach
the question of stare decisis, I think he should vote
to uphold Roe. He certainly left some wiggle
room, and he said he would approach the possibility of
overturning a case differently if the underlying
precedents themselves came into question. But it will be
difficult to overrule Roe or other important
precedents while remaining true to his testimony about stability
and settled law, including his statement that
he agrees with the outcome in Griswold v. Connecticut.
I know the American people will be watching
him very closely on that question, and
I personally will
consider it a reversal of huge proportions, and
a grave disappointment, if he ultimately does attempt
to go down that road.
Well, as long as Feingold is surprised when Roberts takes away
women's rights that's good enough - right?
And Hillary, you're going to cause me a lot of problems if you vote
against women's rights, too.
I have enough problems, so vote the right way on this woman-hating
bastard, would you?

Frey, guilty of fraud
Peterson slut slept with every man in Cali
Link
Excerpt:
Scott Peterson's girlfriend is back in the spotlight
after a DNA test showed
that her first child was not fathered by the
man who was paying child support.
Anthony Flores has been paying Frey $175 a month
for nearly four years.
The father of the girl is actually the owner
of Porky's Rib House.
Flores was preparing to file a court motion seeking
visitation rights, which he has
been denied, when the man received word
last week that he was not the child's father.
Frey's attorney, Gloria Allred, said Wednesday
that her client never intended to deceive Flores.
"Amber, in good faith, always believed that Mr.
Flores was her child's father," Allred said.
But Gloria, if Amber was always honest, why did she wait until the fella
sought visitation
to tell him he wasn't the father? She was content to cash that check
every month until the guy
wanted to see his daughter.
I think Amber Frey has as much credibility as the woman who "found"
a finger at Wendy's.

I loved hearing Galloway slam Coleman and Hitchens,

I'm sad about this, as Galloway might have made

Galloway may prove an embarrassing hero.

On a national scale, the casualty rate is bearable
and the financial cost has not been felt because
the money was first looted from the surplus and
then borrowed. But that borrowing will drive up
interest rates, including mortgages, and it might,
as happened with Vietnam, trigger inflation that
lasted longer than the war itself. Everything
is going to get more expensive and voters are going
to get more grumpy and it's all going to look

In June, the State Department listed 14 countries

American financial assistance, the barring of
their officials from cultural and educational events,
