Bush Crisis
Proves Need for Honest Media
by Robert Parry as seen on consortiumnews.com
Link
Excerpt:
For the past decade, Consortiumnews.com has worked
to compile a truthful record of how
the United States has drifted so far off course,
away from the Founders' ideal of a democratic
republic toward an empire based on deception
and coercion.
Often, these important stories - no matter how
well-reported - could find no home in a national
news media, which itself had lost its way. Instead
of speaking truth to power, the mainstream media
had become power's handmaiden.
So, in 1995, we started this Web site as "the
First Investigative 'Zine on the Internet."
In the decade since, we've described how the Reagan-Bush
crowd used dirty tricks to gain and
hold power; how criminal behavior and political
extremism came to permeate the American Right;
and how the neoconservative concept of "perception
management" evolved into a routine means
for manipulating the public.
Indeed, anyone who has been a regular reader of
Consortiumnews.com would not be surprised
by the ugly reality that is now revealing itself
around George W. Bush's Iraq War lies and the
complicity of leading news organizations in the
deceptions.
Note: consortiumnews.com is the most important site on
the internet

Libby's
notes say Cheney knew
Was Scooter lying to himself?
Link
Excerpt:
Documents in the CIA leak investigation indicate
Libby first heard of Plame from Cheney himself.
Libby's own notes from a previously undisclosed
June 12, 2003 conversation between he & Cheney
appear to differ from Libby's grand jury testimony
that he first heard of Plame from journalists.
Libby has emerged at the center of Fitzgerald's
criminal investigation in recent weeks because of
the Cheney aide's conversations about Plame with
Times reporter Judith Miller.
.
So Libby's notes are calling him a liar?
How will the BFEE slur machine attack Libby's notes?

Rosa
Parks Dies at 92
Was BFEE victim in her final years
Link
Excerpt:
MONTGOMERY, Ala. - This city was gearing up to
celebrate the 50th anniversary of the start
of the modern civil rights movement. Those ceremonies
must now go on without one of its heroes.
Rosa Parks, whose Dec. 1, 1955 arrest for not
giving up her seat to a white passenger sparked
a bus boycott, died at her Detroit home Monday
night of natural causes. She was 92.
"She didn't live to see the 50th celebration and
to see how we are acknowledging her," said Montgomery
Mayor Bobby Bright. "It's a sad, sad day
for Montgomery and a sad day for the world."
No doubt, Rush will spend the day slurring her
legacy.

Journalists'
Hotel in Baghdad Attacked
Link
Excerpt:
Three enormous bombs, including a cement-mixing
truck packed with explosives, blew up near
an Iraqi police post outside the Palestine Hotel
_ home to many foreign journalists in Iraq.
Iraqi officials said 17 people were killed. A
second bomb exploded inside a car not far from
the police position and more than 100 yards east
of the hotel grounds. Both were believed
to be suicide attacks. Security officials said
a third bomb struck the area around the same time.
I heard on the radio that the "insurgents" may have been trying to kidnap
journalists.
Where is Horrendo Revolver when you need him?
BTW, if they can steal a cement truck, fill it with explosives and crash
it thru barriers in Iraq,
why can't they do that in America?
BECAUSE THEY'VE BEEN ORDERED NOT TO ATTACK THE US!
I wonder who gave that order?

Subject: Kay Bailey Hutchifelon
On Sunday, Republicans appeared to be preparing
to blunt the impact of any charges.
Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison, (R-Felon) on the
"Meet the Whore," compared the leak
investigation with the case of Martha Stewart
and her stock sale, "where they couldn't find
a crime and they indict on something that she
said about something that wasn't a crime."
Ms. Hutchison said she hoped "that if there is
going to be an indictment that says something
happened, that it is an indictment on a crime
and not some perjury technicality where they
couldn't indict on the crime and so they go to
something just to show that their two years
of investigation was not a waste of time and
taxpayer dollars."
Ms. Hutchinson went on to say "The only time
an investigation needs to base itself on a
technicality is when it involves a Democratic
President having sex with an office member.
Then money doesn't matter."

You mean besides turning his career into somerthing less exciting than
Pat Boone's?
It's more disgust than hate, but he insulted every fan they ever had
with his "I'm grown up now" comment.
If I could, I'd take back my bottle of Crown Royal.
Hey Robert, just because you turned old and gave up doesn't mean we'll
follow.
They play Zeppelin songs when they advertise his live shows and then
once he
has their money he bores the audience to death with old people's music
Some call that stealing.
And if they do play a Zeppelin song, his new band "fixes it"
instead of doing them the old, bad Jimmy Page way.
But yeah, that 77 US tour was, I think, the best ever.
We saw them twice that year - before Plant turned old.

The whole Judas betrayed Jesus story is crap.
Get out of here!
Judas did not betray Jesus, Judas did exactly
what Jesus asked him to do.
Judas was Jesus's right hand man and chose him
to do the deed because he knew he
could depend on Judas to get the job done. When
Jesus said, "One of you will betray me"
he wasn't doing a Sylvia Browne fortune telling
bit; he was telling the disciples,
"I need one of you guys to go out there and tell
the Romans where I will be."
And when Jesus told Peter, "You will deny me three
times" he was telling Peter that unless
you want to find your ass nailed to tree next
door you had better say you don't know me.
Western Christianity has twisted the story to
fit the whole "Jesus was a victim" and the
debt/repayment nonsense that runs throughout
the new testament. And of course it gets
repeated in Sunday School by morons that are
unqualified to teach shoe lace tying.
Read the story from this point of view and the
whole thing makes sense as
far as story telling goes. From a reality point
of view its all bullshit.
SBen.
You mean it's all made up?
There's no Heaven and no Jesus and no Hell?
Why would they... Oh, that's right - money.
It's easier to steal money from scared people.
You have a point - Judas had no choice in the matter.
God determined before Judas was born that he'd do the dirty deed.
Judas had no more chance of changing that than these letters have
of re-arranging themselves into new words that I didn't write.
...and that cock?
God knew it was going to cry thrice weeks in advance.
Judas sure took a screwing in "world's most popular book," didn't he?
Poor bastard - and think how Judas Maximus must feel?

NYW Times

Excerpt:
What, exactly, does a person have to do to get
fired at The New York Times?
In a busy weekend of rebuke, key players at the
newspaper criticized reporter Judith Miller
-- but all fell short of calling for her dismissal.
Then, late Sunday, she attacked Bill Keller and Jill Abramson.
Jude is the right reporter for a whore newspaper like the NY Times.
Cheney leaks lies to her, she uses the Times's "status" to gives the
lies weight,
then President Katrina quotes the Times as proof that the lies are
real.
They get away with this because honest reporters refuse to call them
on it.

From: Detroit Danny
Subject: American cars
I can't hold it against you that you are ignorant
in regards to American manufacturing and organized labor.
It's such a deep & intertwined tale that
it is beyond the grasp of those that didn't grow up surrounded by it.
The quality of life that once existed for America's
middle class has gone so far down at such a gradual pace
that most aren't even aware of it. We work more
hours, have less vacation time, have shitty health care,
have both parents working, live in fear of management,
and are in constant fear of losing our jobs.
That's the way corporate America wants it, that's
the way Japan wants it, that's the way J. D Powers and
all the little weasels that work there want it.
We could go on all day about how good the Japanese utilize
everything we taught them.
But the bottom line is, that if the playing field
was fair & level no one would be buying "foreign junk".
I'm so old I remember when made in Japan meant
junk. I've given up on people that think it is AOK
to buy foreign cars.
I'm 51, I still have a good Detroit car job. My
kid knows the story, my wife beat HEP C,
my Chocolate Lab sits in the driveway everyday
waiting for me after work, my bud crop is
solid and steady, The Who (what's left of them)
are gonna tour next year. Bush is going down fast.
Life is good. And if the shit hits the fan I can
be in Canada in 20 minutes!!!!!!!
And if you really care ENDORSE American
cars.
Burn a tasty one and go look at a Buick LaCrosse
or something.
DD
Dude, you can say "foreign junk" over and over but you're arguing with
accepted facts.
I wish Detroit could build cars as well as Toyota and Honda - I'll
bet you do, too.
You can say J.D. Power sucks, you can also say Consumer Reports Magazine
sucks.
You can say all the people who report great satisfaction with Japanese
cars are ignorant
but in the end, deep down, you have to know you're not being honest
with yourself.
I bought a new 1986 Cutlass and one day I tried to close the door and
the damn handle came off in my hand.
It was attached to the door with two screws attached to f-ing cardboard.
GM wouldn't even spend a nickle
to install a 2x2 piece of plywood (that must cost 10 cents) to anchor
the handles. Toyota and Honda and
Mazda would never screw their customers that way. What's wrong with
Ford and GM?
I'll bet Detroit's problem is a very simple one. Maybe they were just
so accustomed to their decades of
Planned Obsolescence that they're not able to get away from that when
competition came.
I applaud your attitude and your willingness to
fight and I'm not against American organized labor.
But there's a reason why Detroit can't sell cars.
Why can't they just buy a Camry, take it apart
and build their cars the same way?

Can anybody
replace Howard Stern?
...and is Stern worth $100M a year?
Link
Excerpt:
The reputed replacements for departing Howard
Stern include David Lee Roth, Adam Carolla,
Jon Stewart and Geraldo Rivera, Whoopi Goldberg
and Danny Bonaduce.
One or more could fill Stern's vacant morning
drive-time seat in January, when he moves to Sirius.
But it's time to face the truth, for better or
worse: terrestrial radio may never see another Howard Stern.
"He is irreplaceable," said Michael Harrison,
of Talkers magazine. "Stern is one of a kind, among the very,
very small handful of people that were THE broadcasters
of the 20th century — and carrying into the 21st."
The only time we get to hear Stern is when we're
on vacation.
Since it's video, his TV show was mostly strippers
and porn stars, but when Howard
and Robin are interviewing a movie star or musician
they can be very entertaining.
I wonder what the first uncensored satellite show
will be like?
He's got a decade's worth of rage at the FCC to get off his chest.
