Quotes

"What we do does not come close to torture..."
-- CIA Director Porter Goss,   Link

It's amazing that Goss would say that, after the White House admitted they've gotten
"valuable secrets" from their practice of "water boarding." Do you know what that is?

It's when you tie a man to a see-saw device, where the shifting of weight is enough to
lower his head under water. After he gets a few lungfulls of water, and sometimes dies,
they pull him out, electric-shock him back to life so they can torture him some more.
They kill him again and again - over and over - and if they go too far and he can't be
revived, they call it "a mysterious death" and have a Pentagon doctor rule that the
suspect died of "natural causes."

Does that sound like torture to you?

Sidebar:
A secret memo issued by Administration lawyers authorized the C.I.A. to use novel interrogation
methods including "water-boarding," in which a suspect is bound and immersed in water until he
nearly drowns. Dr. Allen Keller, the director of the N.Y.U. Program for Survivors of Torture, told me
that he had treated a number of people who had been subjected to such forms of near-asphyxiation,
and he argued that it was indeed torture. Some victims were still traumatized years later, he said.
One patient panicked when it rained. "The fear of being killed is a terrifying experience," he said.

Bush in Iraq, Slouching Toward Genocide
   by Robert Parry at  consortiumnews.com

  Link

 Excerpt:
George W. Bush's insistence on "complete victory" in Iraq could become an invitation to the Shiites,
who dominate the government, to exploit U.S. military might to wage genocide against their historic enemies,
the Sunnis. In his Nov. 30 speech, Bush singled out the Sunnis as the heart of the stubborn Iraqi insurgency
and made clear their only option now was to accept the loss of their ruling-class status to the Shiites.

Bush bets legacy on success in Iraq
Like a losing gambler, he's in too deep to quit

 Link

 Excerpt:
The backdrop for Bush's Iraq speech on Wednesday was designed to send a message to critics who dare to say
he has no strategy for winning the war: dozens of placards reading "Plan for Victory" were arrayed behind him.

ha ha
As tho writing "Bush is smart" on a background makes it so...

His renewed defense of the war and his refusal to concede mistakes or set a timetable for U.S. troop withdrawals
sent another message: He is betting his presidency on his nutty-ass belief that he can tame the crazy handjobs.
"We will never back down, we will never give in and we will never accept anything less than complete victory," Bush said.
No matter how many thousands of men die, I want what I want and screw the chances of a miracle happening."

But slogans and rhetoric alone won't reverse sagging support for Der Monkey's war or Americans' declining confidence
in his lack of leadership, as shown by every poll taken lately. Tangible progress and a decline in violence in Iraq
may be the only way to solve his political problems.

Which means the Dems will win both the House and the Senate - if they want to.
The problem is, the Dems are scared and pitiful losers who are afraid of victory.
The smart Republicans are starting to distance themselves from Mr. Crazy.

Soon, the half-smart Republicans will disown him, the only question is,
will the Democrats continue their suicide and run to rescue Bush?

Saddam's Shop of Horrors
Paid for by the BFEE to distract people

 Link

 Excerpt:
A life-sized figure of a Kurdish rebel hanging by his wrists from a metal hook, his arms bound
behind his back -- a position intended to use the prisoner's weight to dislocate his shoulders.

He is dressed in the traditional Kurdish "sharwal" baggy pants and his shirt is partly untucked.
Two electric alligator clips are attached to his earlobes from where wires run to a green hand-cranked
electrical generator on a metal desk. The room is paneled in wood to muffle his screams.

It is only a museum display. But before 1991, what happened in this room was all too real
for the Kurds who dared to oppose the regime of BFEE partner Saddam Hussein.

Where is the Bush-Cheney-Rummy torture museum?
Where are the Abu Graib photo's that are "too gruesome" to be released?
Bush commits war crimes with MY tax dollars, and I can't see the results?

Subject: Tequila tangle

Hey there, Bart!
How would you compare El Tesoro with Chinaco?  Ever done a taste test?

ha ha
Does the Pope have lips?

The owner of my favorite Mexican place here in Raleigh swears by El Tesoro.
What do you think?

El Tesoro is 100% Blue Agave, an excellent pedigree.

I tried Sammy Hagar's blue-bottle reposado, and was very impressed.
Have you tried it?  Real smooth stuff.

Reposados aren't as good as Anejos.
Anejos are meant to be sipped, appreciated, worshipped and enjoyed like a fine woman.

Silvers and Repos are lesser works, made to be mixed with powdered synthetic lime products
and served to pimply, giggly girls with fake IDs trying their first drink in a real-life adult bar.

Curious to know what you think about El Tesoro vs. Chinaco,
Your buddy Tarheel Dan

Any tequila that's 100% agave is worthy.
Even Cuervo 100% agave is palatable, but I avoid it on principle.

If you take a sip of 100% agave and don't say, "Damn, that's nice," you need to switch tequilas.
I've been on Chinaco for 5-years plus and still, with each sip, I say something nice about it.

The Unsolved Mystery of the Notorious B.I.G
  as seen on  rollingstone.com

 Link

 Excerpt:
Those who arrived as spectators at the federal courthouse in downtown Los Angeles on July 6th expecting to
observe the fourth day of testimony in the Notorious B.I.G. wrongful-death suit swiftly discovered that they
were on hand to bear witness to something else: history.

For months, Los Angeles' most prominent political figures and police officials, along with the city's most influential media,
had been insisting that this legal claim by B.I.G.'s family was nothing more than a nuisance suit, based on an outlandish
conspiracy theory that attempted to tie a group of LAPD officers -- affiliated with Suge Knight and the Bloods gang
-- to not only the murders of B.I.G. and Tupac Shakur, but also to the origins of the biggest police-corruption case in
Los Angeles history, the so-called Rampart scandal. Yet here was one of the most respected district court judges in
Southern California declaring in open court that the LAPD's lead investigator on the B.I.G. murder case for the past
six years had deliberately concealed hundreds of pages of documents. The contents of these pages not only supported
the conspiracy theory, but also implicated the central figure in the Rampart scandal -- the disgraced detective who was
the source of the whole sorry, sordid affair -- as one of those involved in the rapper's death.

Perry Sanders, the iconoclastic lawyer who would spearhead the wrongful-death lawsuit, first became involved in
the case in June of 2001. Angular and fit, the fifty-one-year old Sanders is a mercurial Louisianan whose shaved head
and pale eyes give him the look of a more intelligent Bruce Willis.

ha ha
Is that a compliment? :)
Isn't everybody smarter than Bruce Willis?

Thank you for all the time, effort and risk that you put yourself and your family through in maintaining this website.
That "Voodoo-that-you-do-so-well" seems to be working.   The proliferation of Worst-President-Ever signs and

Most U.S. troops will leave Iraq within a year because the Army is "broken, worn out" and

Two weeks ago, Murtha created a storm of comment when he called for U.S. troops to leave Iraq now.

UN: Torture Still Widespread in China

(sigh...)

It's not easy trying to make a living as a political comedian when you see headlines that say,
"Only evil fascist bastards condone widespread torture on all perceived enemies..."

...and most American voters read that and think, "How can some people be so barbaric?"
but then they pull the lever for Der Monkey, the 21st Century Murder-and-Torture King?

Does China invade helpless, backwards, oil-rich countries and install puppet governments?

Bush and his Racist GOP

 Link

 Excerpt:
Among black Americans, President Bush's approval ratings are hovering near the negatives. So it probably won't
make much difference to black voters that the president's appointees at the Justice Department approved a
racially charged voter ID law that was the brainchild of Georgia Republicans. Black Americans have already
written off the White House. But the machinations at Justice serve as a reminder that the president's relationship
with his black constituents was strained and dysfunctional long before his administration's languid response to
Katrina sealed that estrangement once and for all.

Bart,

I just got an e-mail from the "Social Action" group on campus - apparently they're heading to Chicago
to protest Hillary Clinton.  Let's take a look at the list of groups sponsoring this shooting-selves-in-foot action:

"Endorsers List (in formation): Chicago ANSWER,
8th Day Center for Justice,
Evanston Neighbors for Peace,
Gay Liberation Network,
International Solidarity Movement - Chicago Chapter,
Party of Socialism and Liberation,
Peace Pledge-Chicago"

Gay Liberation Network?!  Koresh, Bart!
Don't they realise that between Hillary "We should have healthcare for everyone" Clinton and
Monkey "I hate gays... and blacks, jews, and spics aren't that great either" Bush, that Hillary is the good one?

If the wacky, far-out dems could get Jesus Christ himself to reincarnate to run against Bush,
they'd protest him the second he said "I think we should eat meat and be allowed to have guns."

Nich

Nich, I'm beginning to think the Dems hate Hillary more than the GOP.
Our side must be afraid to win.
Our side must want four or eight more years of the BFEE because "Hillary is bad."

Oprah on Dave

It wasn't great, but it was kinda fun.
Odd that neither of them brought up why the feud started
since Dave's told the story several times back on NBC "when he was funny."

In the late 80s, early nineties, Dave spotted Oprah in a restaurant in, maybe, St Barts.
He told the waiter that Oprah was paying for his meal and he waved to her on the way out the door.
Maybe this started the grudge, maybe not, but Dave used to talk about it - but not last night.

But Dave put the charm on her.
Dave put Bono charm on her.
Dave put Clinton charm on her.
Several times, Oprah thanked Dave for the respect.

Dave was all interested in her African charity work, which made me wonder why Bono and Oprah
haven't formed some kid of alliance to help the 'We'll screw them because they're black' continent.
BTW, if they were for sale, Oprah could purchase U2.

Oprah has BFEE-qualifying money, but she's not gonna join - you know why?
Because Oprah is a Democrat.

Her goal in life isn't killing soldiers to get even richer.
Her goal in life isn't to strangle old people with prescriptions fees they can't pay.
Her goal in life isn't to help the credit card companies get even super-richer.
Her goal in life isn't tricking the sick and the old into giving her their money.
Usually, Democrats with money are so grateful they want to help those with less.
Republicans with money are f-ing angrier than hell that someone else has more.

That's the difference between them and us.

We can be happy with what we have, but the Cheneys of the world, five heart attacks, who already have
$50M in the bank, can't be happy because they know Perot and Gates and Buffet have more - so they
get back into "public service," cheat their way into power (by taking advantage of our retarded elected Democrats)
so they can invade an oil-rich, backwards and helpless nation and rape them into history because for Smirk n' Dick,
super-rich ain't rich enough.   Dick wants it all and he needs it right now because Dick has no tomorrow.

I have no idea who did this graphic, but it's a classic.
The Photoshopping is first rate, but this artist caught the lust in Cheney's eye.

If you produced this graphic, contact me so we can throw you a shot of Chinaco.

Bush makes Saddam look good

 Link

 Excerpt:
Through our careless and uncaring attempts at "nation-building," the United States has put itself in the position
of providing a convenient shield for what is increasingly looking like a takeoff on the Cambodian Killing Fields
-- down to the continued targeting of academics of all ethnicities by self-appointed executioners. Civil war is no
longer a possibility; it is a reality. Amazingly, in Bush's Iraq, just as in Hussein's, you're a victim or a victimizer
-- often both. The grim ironies of this Darwinist nightmare are everywhere. For example, while the military is
defending the use of white phosphorus -- "shake and bake" in U.S. military slang -- by citing chemical weapons
restriction loopholes, it can't look good to the world that one of the human-rights crimes Hussein himself is
charged with is -- you guessed it -- shelling Kurdish rebels and civilians with chemical weapons in 1991.

...weapons provided by Poppy Bush and Rummy.
