Bush's War with the Truth
by Robert Parry   as seen on consortiumnews.com

 Link

 Excerpt:
George W. Bush's dysfunctional relationship with the truth seems to be shaped by two complementary factors
- a personal compulsion to say whatever makes him look good at that moment and a permissive environment
that rarely holds him accountable for his lies.

How else to explain his endless attempts to rewrite history and reshape his own statements, a pattern on display
again in his New Year's Day comments to reporters in San Antonio, Texas? In that session, as Bush denied
misleading the public, he twice again misled the public.

Rhode Island Legalizes Pot

 Link

 Excerpt:
Rhode Island on Tuesday became the 11th state to legalize medical marijuana and the first since the
Whore ruled in June that patients who use the drug can still be prosecuted under federal law.

The House overrode the Governor's veto 59-13, allowing people with illnesses such as cancer and
AIDS to grow up to 12 marijuana plants or buy 2.5 ounces of marijuana to relieve their symptoms.
Those who do are required to register with the state and get an identification card.

Federal law prohibits any use of marijuana, but Maine, Vermont, Alaska, California, Colorado, Hawaii,
Montana, Nevada, Oregon and Washington allow it to be grown and used for medicinal purposes.

It's an outbreak of sanity.
Bush better get busy and kill it.

2006: The Dems' Make-or-Break Year
Some Thoughts for Howard Dean, Harry Reid, Bob Schrum,

the Shit-for-Brains So-Called Leaders of the Democratic Party

 Link

 Excerpt:
You'll never get a better Christmas gift than the NSA wiretapping scandal. What are you going to do with it?
Are you going to let this one slide into the murmurs of committee hearings and "Washington Week," or are you
going to stand up and insist -- loudly, repeatedly, unswervingly -- that this is a country of laws, that the President
has admitted on national television that he broke the law, that he intends to continue breaking the law "so long as
[he is] President," and that in order to preserve the rule of law, criminals must be punished? The public must be
shown that this is a vitally important issue. If that means calling the Senate into closed session, if it means boycotting
one-sided Congressional hearings, if it means shutting down the government with a party-wide walk-out, the
Republicans must not be allowed to change the subject.

Hang 'em high!

 Link

 Excerpt:
Whoo boy. We all know about those slimy, untrustworthy whistle blowing bastards. They just have this inability
to keep their goddamned mouths shut at learning of some corruption, public saftey danger, violation of individual
rights, illegal activity, etc. within an organization they themselves most often are a part of.

Sooner or later, these squealers simply can't contain themselves any longer. In the ultimate betrayal, they feel some
incomprehensible compulsion to rat, to spill their guts, to protect an unsuspecting public being endangered by secret
activities outside their best interests. This is difficult for me to understand. Maybe they're recessive individuals with
mutated ethics genes or something. They have absolutely no sense of loyalty.

That's why, I'm so glad to see the present revelations of president Bush's NSA spying upon any American individual
or group he perceives as a threat is being placed in its proper perspective. The outrage is not that Bush saw fit to extend
his tentacles to embrace extra-constitutional powers he is not privileged to, nor was he granted, in order to illegally spy on us.

Subject: Dick Clark

That sounds like a rant from an elitist Republican that considers poor old people "eaters".

Whoa!
Sounds like we disagree on this, but why the snark attack?

I am not a big Dick Clark fan, but this was his job

Dick Clark is a very, very, very wealthy man.
It's not like he has to work to put food on his family.

and because he's older and stroke stricken he's not good enough now?

Thankfully, "not good enough" is your debate tool and not a Bart quote.

LL's last sentence might not have been necessary - my editorial mistake - but my question was legitimate:
Does a stroke victim know how they sound?

Did Dick Clark overrule his friends and advisors to go on the air?
Was he relectant, but they pushed him until he agreed to go on?

I'm not saying he should be "put away."
I just think a Barbara Walters interview might've been more appropriate.
There were maybe 20 million private parties going on around the country and this was delivered
ambush-style to hype the ratings for Whore Disney - and obviously (?) with Clark's blessing.

Clark could've done interviews with Katie and Diane to let the cat out of the bag, but he didn't.
Looking at it that way - did Clark use his stroke to hype the show that had steep competition?
He wanted this to be dramatic, he wanted this to be controversial - or he's being used.

Zero loyalty?
CHeryl

I'm confused about the loyalty part.
Do you mean for his overall contribution to rock n roll?

I think it was a mistake for them to handle his "coming out" that way,
and it's a "mistake" he got paid a looooooooooooooooooot of money for.

His appearance was cunningly calculated for maximum shock effect.
I felt ambushed, used and manipulated and I'm not sure who to be angry with.

If it was Dick's decision, I think it was unwise.
If someone else made that decision, Clark's being manipulated for money.

Asking Iraq to Pay for Its Occupation

 Link

 Excerpt:
I was disgusted to see a website called www.nationalreferendum.org promoting rebuilding New Orleans
with payments from Iraqis. We invaded their country, killed 100,000 people, left the place a wreck,
and neglected our own cities - so they should pay us?

It gets worse.

I learned about that website because Jeeni Criscenzo, a candidate for U.S. Congress, forwarded me
an Email the group had sent her. The Email pretends that the US has actually followed through on all sorts
of extravagant promises to the Iraqis, and then proposes repayment - apparently oblivious to the fact
that it is illegal both to invade another country and to seize its resources.

Abramoff pleads guilty
DeLay's boy squeals like a pig

 Link

 Excerpt:
Embattled lobbyist Jack Abramoff pleaded guilty Tuesday to federal charges of conspiracy,
tax evasion and mail fraud, agreeing to rat out powerful members of Congress.

Abramoff agreed with Judge Huvelle when she said he had engaged in a conspiracy involving
"corruption of public officials." Adogoff also agreed when she said he and others had engaged in
a scheme to provide campaign contributions, trips and other items "in exchange for certain official acts."

"Words will not ever be able to express my sorrow and my profound regret for all my actions and mistakes,"
Adog lied. "I hope I can merit forgiveness from the Almighty and those I've wronged or caused to suffer."

The Hillary-Condi avalanche

 Link

 Excerpt:.
According to Dick Morris, the only person who can stop Hillary is Condoleezza Rice.

Morris explains it: "Hillary has an attractiveness to white women that is extraordinary.
And I think that she gets the usual Democratic support from blacks and Hispanics.

"I think that the only way to stop Hillary from winning is by running someone that will
appeal to women and take that black vote away from her."

That someone would be Kinda Sleazy.
Morris says. "Condi is a woman that has made it on her own, whose accomplishments are hers."

Wait - made it on her own?
You mean like Clarence Thomas did?
Condi has been appointed to every position we know of except her job at Chevron.

You and LL are so full of it.
Who cares if they give Dick Clark the chance for one last hurrah?

Who said it was his last hurrah?

I thought he sounded pretty good and I was happy for him.

Actually, he sounded pretty good for a stroke victim.

You'll probably say the Who should cancel next years tour because they're too old.

If Daltry has a stroke and has trouble speaking, you bet.

Maybe you should go see them this time around.
See a couple of over 60 guys that wrote the book on Rock and Roll touring.
If you think the U2 fruitcakes are so powerful you'll probably have a stroke at a Who concert.

Barry Crimmins - 2005 in Review
Seriously, could it get any worse?

 Link

 Excerpt:
But say this much for Cunningham. He set a good example for his fellow Republicans by resigning in disgrace.
If by next year at this time we've seen several more Republicans blubbering like defrocked beauty queens after
copping pleas, 2006 will seem blessedly shorter than 2005.

George W. Bush picked a fight he was sure he could win — because the con artists who own and operate him
told him he could. So in front of every other kid in the world, he called his victim out to the playground and had
six or seven of his goons restrain the little guy while he hit him with everything he could find. In doing so,
he pissed off everyone else on the playground.

So when Bush turned away from his bloodied victim to raise his hands in triumph, he was hit squarely from
behind with a two-by-four. Repeatedly.   And it hasn't stopped for two and a half years.

First out lesbian in AZ State Senate

 Link

 Excerpt:
History was made Tuesday, Jan. 3, when the first open Lesbian was named to the Arizona Senate.

By a unanimous vote, the Pima County Board of Supervisors named Paula Aboud (r) to the vacant
District 28 seat for the remainder of the term.

"I'm very honored by the Supervisors and District 28," Aboud is quoted as saying after the vote.
"I look forward to standing up for the rights of the people of Arizona."

Wait - this would be the second outbreak of sanity in two days.
Yesterday they legalized pot in Rhode Island, today lesbians can openly hold Arizona state jobs?

Group Sex Clubs OK in Canada

 Link

Excerpt:
In a 7-2 ruling, the Supreme Court of Canada has ruled that public morality is not a sufficient justification
for criminal prosecution of the owners of two Montreal establishments that facilitated group sex activities.

ha ha
Stop it!

Vacating the criminal convictions of Jean-Paul Labaye and James Kouri, the court ruled
that only objective harm to society or the individual participants could justify criminal sanctions.

Make them stop!
We can't allow people to do what they want.
What if it angers the Invisible Cloud being?
God didn't give us pleasure buttons just so we'd push them.

Labaye operates Club L'Orage, a "swingers club."
As described by Chief Justice Beverley McLachlin in her opinion for the court, the club is a
three-story building to which admission is afforded only "members" and their guests. Becoming
a member requires responding to some questions at the door to ascertain that one knows with
what goes on in the club and is not offended by it, and then paying a membership fee.

Club L'Orage is a heterosexual establishment..

I'll bet they're crowded on "Ladies Night."
You pay a fee and anyone on the third floor is fair game?

"12 of 13 miners found alive" the Yahoo headline read
But when you clicked on it, it said: "Only one miner reported alive."

 Link

 Excerpt:
Only one of the 12 trapped miners found in a US coal mine on Wednesday has survived, reports say.
CNN said one man - critically ill - had been found alive by rescuers, hours after news, "all had been found safe."

Relatives had celebrated in churches after reports that the rescue attempts had found all 12 men alive in an air pocket in the mine.

"Everybody is stunned," said Sam Lands, the brother-in-law of Martin Bennet, who had been in the mine.
"I thought I was going to pass out. I couldn't believe it. We've been lied to all along. We need answers."

I'm old and I've never heard of anything like this before.

CNN says the Coal company held the bad news for three hours.
They let the families celebrate for three hours...looking for a way to spin it favorably.

Then they dropped the bomb.

The women on CNN, live at 3:30 in the morning, crying,
"We were partying!
  For three hours!
They told us our men were coming home!"

Monkey to return some Abramoff money

 Link

 Excerpt:
Bush is giving back $6,000 in contributions (out of $100K) connected to Jack Abramoff,
who faced more guilty pleas as part of a broad-ranging political corruption investigation.

In a plea agreement, Abramoff agreed to tell the FBI about alleged bribes to lawmakers and
their aides on issues ranging from Internet gambling to wireless phone service in the House.

The full extent of the investigation is not yet known, but Justice Department officials said they
intended to make use of the trove of e-mails and other material in Abramoff's possession as
part of a probe that is believed to be focusing on as many as 20 members of Congress and aides.

Court doesn't need another Scalia clone
 by Helen Thomas

 Excerpt:
If the Senate approves Alito, another clone of Scalia will be seated on the high bench. With Clarence Thomas
in his hip pocket, Scalia in effect has two votes on the court. That would grow to three votes if Alito is approved.
Alito's previous judicial decisions and writings bear the imprint of a rock-ribbed conservative, a dream come true
for the right wing of the Republican Party. He is apparently scandal free but none of his Italian immigrant heritage
seems to have translated into compassion for ordinary people."

The Mining Disaster

As always, the whore networks are getting everything wrong.

They keep saying,
"Maybe the news was garbled, and people misunderstood."
"Maybe someone overheard the Command center talking to those below."

Just like with Katrina, they're asking the wrong damn questions.
The questions should be,
"Why did the mining company sit on the bad news while the families celebrated?"
"Why did the Governor party with the families before confirming the news?"

The mining execs should be pulled in front of a camera and grilled.
Instead, we're getting, "There's no benefit to blame-gaming."
Just like Katrina.

International Coal Group Chief Executive Officer Ben Hatfield blamed the wrong information
on a "miscommunication." The news spread after people overheard cell phone calls, he said.

In reality, rescuers had only confirmed finding 12 miners and were checking their vital signs.
At least two family members in the church said they received cell phone calls from a mine foreman.

"That information spread like wildfire, because it had come from the command center," he said.

Three hours later, Hatfield told the families that "there had been a lack of communication,
that what we were told was wrong and that only one survived," said one mining family member.

And the whore media refuses to do their damn jobs.
