Bush's War
with the Truth
by Robert Parry as seen on consortiumnews.com
Link
Excerpt:
George W. Bush's dysfunctional relationship with
the truth seems to be shaped by two complementary factors
- a personal compulsion to say whatever makes
him look good at that moment and a permissive environment
that rarely holds him accountable for his lies.
How else to explain his endless attempts to rewrite
history and reshape his own statements, a pattern on display
again in his New Year's Day comments to reporters
in San Antonio, Texas? In that session, as Bush denied
misleading the public, he twice again misled
the public.

Rhode Island
Legalizes Pot
Link
Excerpt:
Rhode Island on Tuesday became the 11th state
to legalize medical marijuana and the first since the
Whore ruled in June that patients who use the
drug can still be prosecuted under federal law.
The House overrode the Governor's veto 59-13,
allowing people with illnesses such as cancer and
AIDS to grow up to 12 marijuana plants or buy
2.5 ounces of marijuana to relieve their symptoms.
Those who do are required to register with the
state and get an identification card.
Federal law prohibits any use of marijuana, but
Maine, Vermont, Alaska, California, Colorado, Hawaii,
Montana, Nevada, Oregon and Washington allow
it to be grown and used for medicinal purposes.
It's an outbreak of sanity.
Bush better get busy and kill it.

You'll never get a better Christmas gift than
the NSA wiretapping scandal. What are you going to do with it?
Are you going to let this one slide into the
murmurs of committee hearings and "Washington Week," or are you
going to stand up and insist -- loudly, repeatedly,
unswervingly -- that this is a country of laws, that the President
has admitted on national television that he broke
the law, that he intends to continue breaking the law "so long as
[he is] President," and that in order to preserve
the rule of law, criminals must be punished? The public must be
shown that this is a vitally important issue.
If that means calling the Senate into closed session, if it means boycotting
one-sided Congressional hearings, if it means
shutting down the government with a party-wide walk-out, the
Republicans must not be allowed to change the
subject.

Whoo boy. We all know about those slimy, untrustworthy
whistle blowing bastards. They just have this inability
to keep their goddamned mouths shut at learning
of some corruption, public saftey danger, violation of individual
rights, illegal activity, etc. within an organization
they themselves most often are a part of.
Sooner or later, these squealers simply can't
contain themselves any longer. In the ultimate betrayal, they feel some
incomprehensible compulsion to rat, to spill
their guts, to protect an unsuspecting public being endangered by secret
activities outside their best interests. This
is difficult for me to understand. Maybe they're recessive individuals
with
mutated ethics genes or something. They have
absolutely no sense of loyalty.
That's why, I'm so glad to see the present revelations
of president Bush's NSA spying upon any American individual
or group he perceives as a threat is being placed
in its proper perspective. The outrage is not that Bush saw fit to extend
his tentacles to embrace extra-constitutional
powers he is not privileged to, nor was he granted, in order to illegally
spy on us.

Subject: Dick Clark
That sounds like a rant from an elitist Republican
that considers poor old people "eaters".
Whoa!
Sounds like we disagree on this, but why the snark attack?
I am not a big Dick Clark fan, but this was his
job
Dick Clark is a very, very, very wealthy man.
It's not like he has to work to put food on his family.
and because he's older and stroke stricken he's
not good enough now?
Thankfully, "not good enough" is
your debate tool and not a Bart quote.
LL's last sentence might not have been necessary - my
editorial mistake - but my question was legitimate:
Does a stroke victim know how they sound?
Did Dick Clark overrule his friends and advisors to go on the air?
Was he relectant, but they pushed him until he agreed to go on?
I'm not saying he should be "put away."
I just think a Barbara Walters interview might've been more appropriate.
There were maybe 20 million private parties going on around the country
and this was delivered
ambush-style to hype the ratings for Whore Disney - and obviously
(?) with Clark's blessing.
Clark could've done interviews with Katie and Diane to let the cat out
of the bag, but he didn't.
Looking at it that way - did Clark use his stroke to hype the show
that had steep competition?
He wanted this to be dramatic, he wanted this to be controversial
- or he's being used.
Zero loyalty?
CHeryl
I'm confused about the loyalty part.
Do you mean for his overall contribution to rock
n roll?
I think it was a mistake for them to handle his "coming out" that way,
and it's a "mistake" he got paid a looooooooooooooooooot of money for.
His appearance was cunningly calculated for maximum shock effect.
I felt ambushed, used and manipulated and I'm not sure who to be angry
with.
If it was Dick's decision, I think it was unwise.
If someone else made that decision, Clark's being manipulated for money.

Asking Iraq to Pay for Its Occupation
Link
Excerpt:
I was disgusted to see a website called www.nationalreferendum.org
promoting rebuilding New Orleans
with payments from Iraqis. We invaded their country,
killed 100,000 people, left the place a wreck,
and neglected our own cities - so they should
pay us?
It gets worse.
I learned about that website because Jeeni Criscenzo,
a candidate for U.S. Congress, forwarded me
an Email the group had sent her. The Email pretends
that the US has actually followed through on all sorts
of extravagant promises to the Iraqis, and then
proposes repayment - apparently oblivious to the fact
that it is illegal both to invade another country
and to seize its resources.

According to Dick Morris, the only person who
can stop Hillary is Condoleezza Rice.
Morris explains it: "Hillary has an attractiveness

"I think that the only way to stop Hillary from
winning is by running someone that will
appeal to women and take that black vote away

That someone would be Kinda Sleazy.
Morris says. "Condi is a woman that has made

Crimmins - 2005 in Review
Seriously, could it get any worse?

Excerpt:
But say this much for Cunningham. He set a good
example for his fellow Republicans by resigning in disgrace.
If by next year at this time we've seen several
more Republicans blubbering like defrocked beauty queens after
copping pleas, 2006 will seem blessedly shorter
than 2005.
George W. Bush picked a fight he was sure he could
win — because the con artists who own and operate him
told him he could. So in front of every other
kid in the world, he called his victim out to the playground and had
six or seven of his goons restrain the little
guy while he hit him with everything he could find. In doing so,
he pissed off everyone else on the playground.
So when Bush turned away from his bloodied victim
to raise his hands in triumph, he was hit squarely from
behind with a two-by-four. Repeatedly.
And it hasn't stopped for two and a half years.

Only one of the 12 trapped miners found in a

the mine.

The Mining
Disaster
As always, the whore networks are getting everything wrong.
They keep saying,
"Maybe the news was garbled, and people misunderstood."
"Maybe someone overheard the Command center
talking to those below."
Just like with Katrina, they're asking the wrong damn questions.
The questions should be,
"Why did the mining company sit on
the bad news while the families celebrated?"
"Why did the Governor party with the families
before
confirming the news?"
The mining execs should be pulled in front of a camera and grilled.
Instead, we're getting, "There's no benefit
to blame-gaming."
Just like Katrina.
International Coal Group Chief Executive Officer Ben Hatfield blamed
the wrong information
on a "miscommunication." The news spread after people overheard cell
phone calls, he said.
In reality, rescuers had only confirmed finding 12 miners and were checking
their vital signs.
At least two family members in the church said they received cell phone
calls from a mine foreman.
"That information spread like wildfire, because
it had come from the command center," he said.
Three
hours later, Hatfield told the families that
"there had been a lack of communication,
that what we were told was wrong and that
only one survived," said one mining family member.
And the whore media refuses to do their damn jobs.
