Quotes

"When the White House press corps had an opportunity to ask Scott McClellan questions,
they didn't ask him about it.  Reporters asked McClellan about immigration, terrorism,
Katrina and Iran. But there wasn't a single question about Bush authorizing Libby to share
  highly classified information with reporters."

Gee, it's almost like the press is helping Bush cover up his crimes.

Bush, Wiretaps & Watergate
by Robert Parry  as seen on consortiumnews.com

 Link

 Excerpt:
Both Bush's critics and defenders are citing Nixon's Watergate scandal as either why Bush's
warrantless wiretaps of Americans should be feared or why his spying doesn't represent a threat
to civil liberties. But neither side has the history exactly right -- nor is there reason to believe that
Bush is somehow immune from the temptation to abuse secret power.

Libby: Bush OK'd Leak
Will the Democrats back Bush on this crime, too?

 Link

 Excerpt:
Libby told prosecutors Bush authorized the leak of sensitive intelligence information about Iraq,
according to court papers filed by prosecutors in the CIA leak case.

Before his indictment, Libby testified to the grand jury that Cheney told him to pass on the information
and that it was Bush who authorized the leak, the court papers say. The authorization led to the July 8, 2003,
conversation between Libby and New York Times reporter Judith Miller (R-For Sale)

'South Park' wins Peabody Award
"House" and "Denny Crain" also won - they deserve it

 Link

 Excerpt:
Comedy Central's "South Park" won its first Peabody Award on Wednesday,
winning praise from judges as TV's boldest, most politically incorrect satirical series.

The Peabody Awards, for broadcasting excellence in both news and entertainment, are given
annually by the University of Georgia. Thirty-two awards will be handed out June 5 in New York,
hosted by two-time recipient Jon Stewart, who anchors Comedy Central's "The Daily Show."

So, just to be clear about the score:
South Park has One Peabody Award, Bill O'Reilly has Zero Peabody Awards.

One reason O'Reilly hates Al Franken is because Franken exposed O'Reilly for lying about that.
O'Reilly kept bragging, again and again, how he'd won Two Peabody Awards, so Al looked it up.

Turns out, O'Reilly had Zero Peabody Awards, so Al Franken started calling him on it.
O'Reilly then changed his wild-ass claim to say he'd won a Polk Award, whatever that it.

If only O'Reilly was as good at his job as the South Park dudes.

Subject: GOP Goes after McKinney

I'm wondering about the physical condition of that Capitol Cop, that McKinny assaulted.
What are his injuries and did he require medical attention?
Is he going to make it?

Bugs

Bugs, good point.
Reminds me of that traffic cop who claimed Zha Zha slapped him back in the day.

The cop is like 6'2" and Zha Zha was in her 80s, and this cop is crying that Zha Zha kicked his ass?
I'm some old lady kicked my ass, I'd bribe all witnesses to claim I won!

Giuliani Tells Moussaoui Jury About 9/11

 Link

 Excerpt:
Rudy described the opening horrors of Sept. 11, 2001, to Moussaoui's jury, saying he was unwilling
to believe people were jumping to their deaths from the WTC until he saw it with his own eyes.

He said the image of two people jumping together, appearing to hold hands, sticks with him every day.
Moussaoui affected a look of boredom when the prosecution played video of victims falling to their deaths.
Giuliani took the stand after the prosecutor braced jurors for the painful testimony they were going to hear.

What a great idea it was for Rudy to explain 9-11 to us - because we'd all forgotten.
I've always been against "witness impact statements" in every case. They're stupid and unnecessary.

In single-death cases, the victim was always the kindest, warmest, most loving person in history,
whose smile lit up the room every time he or she entered, a person who was soooo full of love and
had so much to live for - even if the deceased is Bill O'Reilly or the vulgar Pigboy.  You never hear,
"He was a sourpuss loner that nobody liked, he hated kids and puppies and nobody will miss him."

If you kill someone, you have to pay the price.
It shouldn't matter if the dead man was a warm guy or a sourpuss.

Paul Hackett

Paul substituted for Jerry Springer yesterday on AAR.
I generally liked what I heard - until the topic turned to Cynthia McKinney.

Sidebar:
Hackett talked about the "slapping incident" with the capitol cop and then he gave his
Nancy Grace guarantee that it was not about race.

The facts are - unless Hackett witnesses the "crime," he doesn't know what happened
any more than Nancy Pelosi does, but he had no trouble dismissing race as a factor.
A lady (possibly black) called in and gave him some hell for it. Good for her.

I think black women might have the worst of a bad situation.
Many white people look down on blacks, and some black men look down on black women.
Over a quarter century ago, John Lennon wrote, "Woman is the nigger of the world," and as any
Bush fan will tell you, the only thing worse than a black person is a black person with a uterus.

I don't understand how any white person can tell a black person, "It's not about race."
Since whites have no race problems, they think that racism is a thing of the past - not true.
It's so easy for whites to say, "It's not about race," but we don't have a clue what it's like.

I think Hackett made a mistake here, and how will he know about it unless his friends tell him?
Paul Hackett explaining what really happened in the McKinney incident makes as much sense
as Ol' Bart writing a story about what it's like to cruise around Fallujah in a unarmored Humvee.

Subject: McKinney

OK. Maybe I'm going out on a limb here, but didn't this incident take place at the CAPITOL?!?!

We're in a "post-9-11" world, (to quote the current administration),
so shouldn't there be some goddam SECURITY CAMERAS taking video at the entrance?
The freaking, redneck 'Diskount Liqker" store down the road has security cameras for goddsakes.

Wouldn't some video of the incident go a long way to proving which party is the one that got harassed?
I'd feel a whole lot better weighing in with an opinion on this if I knew WHO to believe.

Jonathan

Jonathan, good point.
That camera angle is covered in the just-released BCR 91.

I can't guarantee that McKinney is innocent, I'm just not willing to condemn her without the facts.
Jon Stewart called her "a crazy bitch" (or worse - they bleeped it) on his show.
Maybe he knows more than we do?

Their accusation that McKinney is crazy is based on her belief that Bush & Cheney were behind 9-11.
For that, she MUST be crucified, and the Democrats are all too ready with the nails and hammer.

Besides being losers and quitters, the Democrats are suicidal.
They'd rather lynch one of their own than call Bush on his crimes.

Bush is Trying to get Impeached

 Link

 Excerpt:
My theory is that President Bush is trying to get impeached. He's tired and he just wants to go home.
His bed in Crawford seems so enticing now. All this presidenting has worn him out. After Katrina he hasn't
even been able to take his signature five week vacations. So, he's subconsciously trying to get kicked out of
school so he doesn't have to do the homework anymore. Why else would he break so many laws?

Subject: McKinney

Bart,

Sometimes Cynthia acts like she has a screw loose.
She gave the repugs a convenient distraction from Tom DeLay and Scooter Libby.
She's been like this for a long time.  Here's an item from a month before the 2000 election,
quoted and discussed in dailyhowler.com for Thursday April 6, 2006:

To her friends, Cynthia McKinney is a refreshing new face in a sea of congressional clones.
She's unafraid to speak out—even against fellow Democrats...

McKinney's office faxed a statement blasting Gore's low "Negro tolerance level"
and accusing him of seldom having more than one black in his presence.

The statement came in response to a "report" by attorneys representing 250 black
Secret Service agents in a discrimination lawsuit against their employer. They had
alleged a secret quota within Gore's security detail that limited the number of black
agents around him.

Later, the attorneys themselves backed, but McKinney's news release remained on her web site.
McKinney refused to explain the remarks or say whether she planned to apologize to Gore..."

But you, Bart, you are always sane.
Keep up the good work.
Hill, Hill, Hillary!
Pres, Pres, President!

Jim from Roswell

Jim, what McKinney did sounds crazy all right, but only if the Secret Service suit is false.
If 250 black agents really felt that Gore had rules against them, and filed the suit,
that means either they are crazy (all 250 of them?) or Gore needs to explain himself.

But - if the story about the 250 black agents is true, FOX News and Nazi talk radio
would've talked it to death so maybe Cynthis just fell for another Rove hoax.

Bush Approval Falls Again

 Link

 Excerpt:
Bush's approval ratings hit a series of new lows in an AP-Ipsos poll that also shows the GOP losing
their advantage on national security — grim election-year news for a party struggling to stay in power.

Only 40 percent of the public approves of Bush's performance on foreign policy and the war on terror,
another low-water mark for his presidency. That's down 9 points from a year ago.

Just 35 percent of the public approves of Bush's handling of Iraq, his lowest in AP-Ipsos polling.

"He's in over his head," said Diane Heller, 65, a Pleasant Valley, N.Y., real estate broker and independent voter.
By a 49-33 margin, the public favors Democrats over Republicans when asked which party should control Congress..

Subject: Cheney/Halliburton et al

Dear Bart,

I wish someone would tabulate exactly how much money Cheney/Bush have personally realized
from their tax cutting & war mongering.  What they had when they came to DC and what they have now.

I'd also like to know how much more money others in Congress have realized as well.
I'm sure this information might help to wake the sheeple just a tad.
gp

Much of the information is out there, but you'll never hear it
unless it's on an obscure website or Randi Rhodes.

Cheney has 400,000 shares of Halliburton stock options.
That's public record, filed with the SEC, but nobody talks about it because they don't want the truth.

People had to know every detail of Clinton and Monica, but the 2400 dead soldiers
who died for Bush-Cheney greed is something nobody wants to look at or talk about.

The RICO suit claims Kid Rock, his attorney, music label and others used money laundering,
racketeering, perjury, tampering with a witness, retaliating against a witness, threatening an officer
of the court and extortion in the original case.

In other legal news, Rock sued a porn company last month after they announced plans to market a video.
It shows Rock and former Creed singer Scott Stapp having fun on a concert tour bus near Miami in 1999.

The Tethered Goat Strategery
The only true news comes from overseas

 Link

 Excerpt:
Since the Iraqi elections in January, US foreign service officers at the Baghdad embassy have been writing
a steady stream of disturbing cables describing drastically worsening conditions. Violence from incipient
communal civil war is rapidly rising. Last month there were eight times as many assassinations committed
by Shia militias as terrorist murders by Sunni insurgents...Rather than being received as invaluable intelligence,
the messages are discarded or, worse, considered signs of disloyalty. Rejecting the facts on the ground
apparently requires blaming the messengers. So far, two top attaches at the embassy have been reassigned
elsewhere for producing factual reports that are too upsetting.

Is this not a time in America where the fear of terrorism and evil are too abundant.
This is not a racist act but an act of a true American doing HIS job because he takes a great deal of pride in America.
The country, as a whole, is in dire straights and we are giving our energy to this.

Nicole Kidman Buys Off Catholix

to Aussie papers.  Kidman was married to Mr. Can't Act from 1990 to 2001.
