"I think there's something odd about these
polls.
Twenty-nine percent approval with the
economy the way it is?
It just doesn't make sense, folks."
-- Rush the vulgar Pigboy Link
Rush makes more than $30M a year, and he can't understand why
the poor would complain
that Bush raided Social Security and Medicare to give the super-rich
more money to spend.
Remember last week, Bush was crowing about the amazing housing
market?
Turns out 40
percent of new home purchases are second
homes.
The super-rich bought
houses
with Bush's tax refunds.
What did you buy with your refund?

Iran, Bush
& Nuremberg
by Peter Dyer as seen on consortiumnews.com
Link
Excerpt:
What has been perhaps most mind-boggling about
George W. Bush's presidency is its consistent inconsistency
on the application of law, both at home and abroad.
Bush demands respect for the law from U.S. citizens and
lectures foreign countries on the need to abide
by international norms, while simultaneously flouting the rules
when they apply to him or his administration.
For instance, Cheney upbraided Russia for its
use of economic power -- i.e. control of energy -- to coerce
a neighbor, but Bush goes even beyond economic
power, to include military might, to force countries to do
what Bush wants, with the unprovoked invasion
of Iraq the most notable example, followed now by the
implicit threat of an attack against Iran.
All the while, the mainstream American news media
acts as if nothing's amiss, that it's entirely normal for the
United States to attack nations that are perceived
as somehow presenting a theoretical future threat to U.S.
interests -- and for Bush self-righteously to
adopt contradictory positions for other countries. In this guest
essay, Peter Dyer reminds us that there have
been rules and principles set through time that prohibit violence
except in immediate self-defense:

Excerpt:
Because they have decided to spy on media outlets
and they've come right out and told those outlets
they were being spied upon, there's no need for
them to censor them or shut them down.
Because their phones and networks are being watched,
media outlets have altered their behavior - and that
alone has changed the nature of news reporting
whether anyone wants to acknowledge the fact or not.
When a major news daily has to go offline or buy
disposable cell phones to work stories - when they have to
resort to what the Bush administration describes
as terrorist tactics in order to simply get their jobs done
- it is no longer an exaggeration to state that
free media in this country has been all but extinguished.

Feds Raid
CIA's Dusty Foggo
Will he flip on Bush & Cheney?
Link
Excerpt:
Feds searched the home and office of the CIA's
departing No. 3 official on Friday as part of a corruption
investigation that brought down Cunningham, DeLay,
Abramoff (more to come) and now involves CIA contracts.
Investigators from five federal agencies searched
the home of Kyle "Dusty" Foggo and his office at Langley.
Some hookers, some cocaine, some bribes from wealthy defense contractors,
a little corruption, some patronage, a crooked poker game...
Meanwhile, they claim they can't find Osama?

Excerpt:
Former Qwest chief executive Joe Nacchio's attorneys
have said he is "among the most
reviled figures in recent Denver history" and
that his trial on insider trading charges should
be moved because he cannot get a fair trial in
the city.
Nacchio is charged with 42 counts alleging he
publicly exaggerated Qwest's financial health
before selling about $101 million in company
stock in 2001. He has pleaded innocent.
Hey, if he's guilty, he needs to pay the price, BUT...
Was he charged as payback for saying, "No!"
to the snot-nosed Boy King?
This needs to be looked into.
Don't think for second that Bush wouldn't do it.

Subject: 9-11 report is fiction
I realize that quite a number of people have tried
to convince you that 9-11 was a conspiracy and
you shrugged off most of them stating that you
needed sufficient proof in order to form an opinion.
Now I'm not saying that this is "concrete evidence"
that Bush and his buds were totally responsible
but please watch the following video and then
tell me you can be totally sure they weren't.
Google "Everybody's gotta learn sometime" and
play version 1.0.
I realize also that it's a long clip but please

Richard
Clarke was on Bill Maher's last show (till August) and he said
he doesn't believe
those conspiracy theories because it supposes A, that
the government is competent and
B, that it's possible to keep something that big a secret
- which makes sense, right?
[Watch for that in the upcoming BCR

But then we find out that Bush has been tapping phones and reading e-mails
and running our
credit cards and health records etc. for FOUR
YEARS and we're just now finding out?
I'd hate to be the first to say Clarke was naive...

Bart, I can see where you're going, as far as
W wanting to have a "gentleman's agreement".
But this is assuming Osama would have a motive
to go along with W...which I don't see.
Give some ideas as to why Osama would want to
go along, and maybe I'll agree.
Thanks
Warren
Warren, I have no idea. Osama wasn't in any of those planes on
9-11,
so maybe he wants to stay alive more than he wants to bring down America.
But doesn't your question pre-suppose that Osama can't
hit us?
I say Osama is capable of many small strikes that would
almost certainly paralyze America
but for some reason, he's chosen not to paralyze America
and I wonder why that is?
Remember, The BFEE has a history
of making secret deals with terrorists,
and a secret deal with terrorists is how Poppy Bush took
the presidency.

As the blog Firedog Lake so ably reports, the
Washington Post loaded a poll so that it would appear that
Americans support illegal domestic spying.
The problem is that when you read the poll closely, they only

Leading Democrats tell the New York Times that
it would be better if the party doesn't win in the fall

it would be better off not holding any investigations into Bush.
In fact, the best thing to do would be to keep
losing until everything is perfect so they don't have to do

what the Democrats' master plan has been for

The Reverend Perry Sanders, pastor of First Baptist
Church of Lafayette for nearly half a century,
had surgery Monday for a broken hip he suffered
prior
to giving his last sermon as pastor Sunday.
Church workers called for an ambulance, but asked

Sanders delivered his sermon as planned, Horn said.

TV Stuff
The last West Wing was good, but it was also sad.
Seeing a Democrat handing power over to another democrat - only on
TV, right?
Mrs. Bart remarked, "We don't even have a
fictional
Democratic president, anymore."
Watching the fictional president walk up Pennsylvania Avenue on Inauguration
Day, smiling and
waving to the people reminded me how the real president, the bastard
who stole two elections,
sped past tens of thousands of protestors who were raging at him because
he wasn't legally elected
- he stole it from a rival who just couldn't be bothered to try to
win.
Mrs. Bartlet said, "You made it, Jed,"
meaning he didn't die in office.
They cancelled The West Wing, they cancelled Commander in Chief...
The only pretend president we have left is Der Murder Monkey.

Anyone who has seen both shows would rather have Veronica Mars
be in charge instead of Jack Bauer.
After killing and maiming Koresh knows how many people, after involving
the Sec of Defense and the
Attorney General and the Secret Service, after hijacking a plane and
personally making decisions that affect
the lives of thousands, Jack Bauer never bothered to make a copy of
the tape, or make sure it stayed safe.
Instead, he went off the clock to check with his girlfriend so the
bad guys could erase the evidence.
On Veronica Mars - she saw a piece of wood with markings on it,
so she made a copy of it - just in case.
That's the difference between the two shows.

Excerpt:
The Reverend
Sanders is just coming out of surgery for a broken hip he sustained
yesterday.
Sanders broke his hip as he approached the pulpit
for his last sermon before retirement yesterday.
The pastor gutted it out, delivering the sermon
from a chair before being taken to the hospital in a stretcher.
Last December, Mrs. Bart and I met this remarkable man in Vail.
If I had to pick one word to describe him, it would be mischievous.
He was telling jokes and stories like he was a stand-up comedian. He
had a look on his face and a twinkle in
his eye that told me he knew something that I didn't. While we were
together, each time I pushed a door open,
I looked up to see if a bucket of water was about to splash down on
me.
He is a character and it was a lot of fun to meet him.
Get well soon, Reverend.

Cameron
Diaz Least Likeable Star

Johnny Depp loves to sign autographs for fans.
And according to the Editor of Autograph Collector magazine,
"Cameron Diaz may be a talented actress, but
she's persistently a terrible signer. Instead of just turning
down
a person's autograph request, she'll lecture
them about how dumb autographs are," the editor said.
She was never my favorite, and I fully realize how fake Hollywood is,
but what pissed me off about her was that
she held out for $20M
to do Charlie's Angels II (owned by Drew Barrymore). Eventually,
Drew agreed with her
demands, so then Diaz went on TV to talk about, "how
great it was to get to work with the girls again."
Hey Cameron, why'd you sue to stop those "topless" pictures from getting
