Bush's Enron
Lies
by Robert Parry as seen on consortiumnews.com
Link
Excerpt:
Four years ago, when the taboo against calling
George W. Bush a liar was even stronger than it is today,
the media bought into Bush's spin that he did
nothing to bail out Enron and Kenneth Lay.
Bush supposedly refused to intervene, despite
the fortune that Enron had poured into his political coffers.
That refusal purportedly showed the high ethical
standards that set Bush apart from lesser politicians.
Bush's defenders will probably reprise that storyline
now that former Lay and Skilling stand convicted
of conspiracy and fraud. But the reality is that
the Bush-can't-be-bought spin was never true.

Subject: she whose name we dare
not speak
Dear Bart:
My question is when is she going to fight back?
If not now, when?
Best Regards,
Norm
I'm not on the team, so all I can do is guess
and my guess is after she wins a second term.
She's a freshman senator doing her first elected
job.
If she came out against the war tomorrow and
called Bush a bunch of names like people want,
I would expect every other Democrat to give her
the Murtha treatment and she'd be all alone.
"She doesn't speak for me, I love this president
and she's just showing her true colors
which is Code Pink, Jane Fonda and
everyone knows Hanoi Hillary can't get elected."
Why would she volunteer for that today?
And before 100 people write to say, "It's about
leadership," I disagree.
It's about winning and that means doing things when the timing
is right.
Could somebody explain again why backing the Democrat
in the 2008 presidential election is an awful thing to do?

Bush: "bring
'em on" was big mistake
Link
Excerpt:
Bush admitted that his bellicose "bring 'em on"
taunt to Iraqi insurgents was a big mistake, as he and Blair
did their damndest to try to avoid histroy's
inevitable condemnation of their greedy asses as giggling murderers.
Bush and Blair reflected on their grievous mistakes
that intensified anti-American sentiment in the Middle East.
Back in July 2003, the tough-talking, never-been-in-a-fair-fight-coward
responded to a question
about the emerging Iraqi insurgency by smirking
like a serial douchebag and saying "bring 'em on."
That's easy for his deserting-during-wartime
yellow-ass to say.
After three years of war that has killed more
than 2,400 Americans and thousands of Iraqis,
Bush said that insane prattle was "kind
of tough talk, you know, that sent the wrong message to people."
Yeah, that's right.
Any other president would have to pay a price
for personal greed that killed 2500 soldiers.

Playing
the Impeachment Card
by William Rivers Pitt
Link
Excerpt:
Approval ratings for the Bush administration
are at historic lows, and approval ratings for the Republican
Congressional majority currently languish in
a root-cellar beneath those historic lows. There are 159 days
until the November 7th midterm elections, and
the Republican majority has absolutely nothing to run on.
The economy? They say it is strong but no one
believes them, and rising gas prices don't do their arguments
any favors. Immigration? This is a self-inflicted
brawl that has ripped a wide rift down the middle of the
Republican coalition. National security? Iraq.
On top of this big three, the White House and
the Republican Congressional majority are also walking around
with NSA domestic spying, the investigation into
the outing of Valerie Plame, the now-axiomatic belief that Bush
left New Orleans to die, and a half-dozen other
millstones hanging around their necks.

Cali Energy
Ripoff was Terrorism
Link
Excerpt:
The Kenny Boy Potato Chip and Jeff Skilling conviction
was gratifying, but neither lowlife should ever see the
light of day again. In the Great 2000-2001 California
Energy Robbery, a group of 6 power companies, led by Enron,
through manipulating power production, raised
rates up to 90 fold. California people and firms were paying as much in
a day for electricity as they had in 3 months,
threatening to shutdown the world's 6th largest economy. Then in a
breathlessly audacious scam, the Republicans
(who had probably engineered it to punish California for voting 12%
more for Gore) managed to use the 3-fold higher
power contracts Gray Davis signed with a gun to his and the state's
temple... to depose him and replace him with
the Terminator. Ahnold quickly agreed to almost cancel the $9 billion
refund of the theft, getting only 10-20% in a
devils bargain with the power companies.

Lay - Guilty,
Bush - Guilty
Link
Excerpt:
As Waxman explained in a 2001 interview, "The
fact of the matter is that Enron and Ken Lay had an
extraordinary amount of influence and access
to Bush. Lay was called a close friend by both Bush and Cheney.
When Cheney chaired an Energy Task Force, Ken
Lay had an opportunity to meet privately with him and to have
a great deal of influence in their recommendations."
Bush and his aides have worked hard since the Enron scandal
broke to suggest that Lay was just another generous
Texan. But the attempts to deny linkages to the now-convicted
corporate criminal never cut water with Craig
McDonald, the director of Texans for Public Justice. "Bush's explanation
of his relationship with Enron is at best a half
truth," McDonald said after Bush first tried to distance himself from Lay
and other Enron executives. 'He was in bed with
Enron before he ever held a political office.'"
We should also remember that before 9-11, Cheney had his oil buddies
over and he showed them
a map of the Iraq oil fields and they decided who would get what -
before 9-11.

Mount Everest pioneer Sir Edmund Hillary said
Wednesday he was shocked that
dozens of climbers left a British mountaineer
to die during their own attempts on the
world's tallest peak. David Sharp, 34,
died apparently of oxygen deficiency while
descending from the summit during a solo climb

More than 40 climbers are thought to have seen

continued to the summit without offering assistance.
"Human life is far more important

Hillary was quoted as saying.

ha ha -
did you really say that?
1. Kennyboy was Der Monkey's biggest contributor
and you're saying he was better
friends with Bill Clinton?
2. If Clinton is responsible for Enron, cause
it happened on his watch,
then Der Monkey is responsible
for 9-11 and you've got no way out of that trap.
His crimes could have only taken place after accounting
standards were altered drastically
which they were, by liberals such as Dodd.
Wait, you're saying the Democrats are the party
of big business?
The Republicans had nothing to do with
greater energy business profits?
You say you have a smart mouth and the truth
but do you still stop writing occasionally and
learn some facts?
Do I still stop?
For instance -- Clinton didn't react to terrorism
so our enemies increased their attacks
including the attack that was planned and put
in place while Clinton was president -- 911.
So, if Clinton never had sex, then Bush would've
taken the August 6, 2001 bin Laden PDB seriously?
Dude, how many moons do you have on your planet?
That was the second time they attacked the WTC.
The first time Clinton did nothing.
He didn't even visit New York City.
You knew that right?
The Carson Monkey holding mirror
Dude, you so crazy they'll think I wrote your parts.
Longtime readers will recognize your crazy ass, but newbies might be
confused.
Here are the facts, you poor boy.
The handjobs who blew up the WTC a few months into The Clinton Miracle
were caught
and tried and sentenced (legally, under the Constitution) and are currently
in prison.
Those are facts.
You can't handle facts, so you retreat into FoxWorld.
Since you get your "facts" from FOX News and Rush, you don't know what
the facts are.
Bottom Line:
Clinton prevented every attack on US soil except for the one
plotted under Poppy Bush.
(Using your argument against you) ...and those bastards are rotting
in prison today.
And you say Bill avoided New York as president?
Is that how his pushy wife got on the good side of the majority of
New York voters?

Excerpt:
So what does this article teach us about the
Clintons after 30 years of marriage? Well, virtually nothing, actually.
There's a lot of idle speculation by friends and
political allies, some of it admiring of the relationship, some of it
concerned about the baggage Bill might present
for her presidential bid. Yet the overall tone is somehow
negative and lurid, as when author Patrick Healy
(think Judith Miller without the uterus) notes that "Mr. Clinton
is rarely without company in public, yet the
company he keeps rarely includes his wife. Nights out find him zipping
around Los Angeles with his bachelor buddy, Ron
Burkle, or hitting parties and fund-raisers in Manhattan; she is
yoked to work in Washington or New York -- her
Senate career and political ambitions consuming her time."
The implication is that "Mr. Clinton" and his
bachelor buddy are out having a wild and crazy (wink, wink) time
-- and why, exactly, was the phrase "bachelor
buddy" included at all?"
The mainstream media is doing everything they
can to stop her from becoming president and some
Democrats are falling for it. They want
you to forget how good things were when a Clinton was in charge.
They want you to think today's Amerikkka is as
good as it ever was and deep down,
we know that's false, but it's so much fun to
pile on while they beat up a lady.
If she's everything Arianna Huffington says she is,
why are the big corporations investing so much to stop her?

The Burial
of the 9/11 Story
The truth makes Bush look bad, so they cover it up
Link
Excerpt:
Last week, William Scott Malone and I broke the
story of how a still anonymous, senior White House official
leaked top-secret NSA intelligence in 2001 to
then-New York Times reporter Judith Miller. The intelligence
indicated that Al Qaeda was planning a major
attack on the United States. But the "The 9/11 Story That Got Away"
never made it into the paper.
It never made it to the attention of top Times
executive Bill Keller either. Keller, now executive editor of the paper,
was managing editor in July 2001. But he was
kept in the dark when Miller's "impeccable" source first revealed details
of intelligence concerning an impending Al Qaeda
attack, perhaps to be visited on the continental United States. The NSA
had been listening in on a conversation between
two members of Osama bin Laden's terror network. One was overheard
saying to the other, "Don't worry, we're planning
something so big now that the U.S. will have to respond."
