CIA: Osama Helped Bush in '04
by Robert Parry as seen on  consortiumnews.com

 Link

 Excerpt:
Just four days before the election, Osama bin-Laden released a videotape denouncing Bush.
Some Bush supporters quickly spun the diatribe as "Osama's endorsement of John Kerry."
But behind the walls of the CIA, analysts had concluded the opposite: that bin-Laden was
trying to help Bush gain a second term.

This stunning CIA disclosure is in Ron Suskind's The One Percent Doctrine, which draws heavily
from CIA insiders. Suskind wrote that the CIA analysts based their troubling assessment on classified
information, but the analysts still puzzled over exactly why bin-Laden wanted Bush to stay in office.

According to Suskind's book, CIA analysts had spent years "parsing each word from Osama and his deputy,
[Ayman] Zawahiri. What they'd learned over nearly a decade is that bin-Laden speaks only for strategic reasons. …

"Their [the CIA's] assessments, at day's end, are a distillate of the kind of secret, internal conversations that
the American public [was] not sanctioned to hear: strategic analysis. Today's conclusion: bin-Laden's message
was clearly designed to assist the President's reelection.

"Bush and the Republican Party have made it clear that they don't share American values of
democracy, and justice. They are fascists and we need to start saying so. Their idea of capitalism
is crony capitalism, with corporations feeding off the government and funneling a portion of their
large profits back to the RNC. The RNC has become a fascist criminal enterprise."

Kenneth Lay dies at 64
I knew he wouldn't do any time

 Link

Excerpt:
Kenneth Lay, Bush's biggest financial contributor, died Wednesday in Aspen, Colo. He was 64.

Lay died of a heart attack, his pastor in Houston said.
"Apparently, his heart simply gave out," said Pastor Steve Wende

Oh sure, they'll say it was a heart attack, but when Bush said, "I don't even know the man,"
that broke Kennyboy's heart and he just couldn't go on without his precious Georgie.

I wonder if Bush blew him, too?

Subject: no longer a world leader

Fortunately for the world North Korea's missile test was a failure. The problem however is that
the United States is powerless to do anything about it. In the past America was a trusted nation
that had the power to bring nations together as to what to do about the world's crazy leaders.
But America no longer has a trusted status in the world community because of our crazy leader.

In 2003 America invaded and occupied Iraq without the support and agreement of the world.
In an act of defiance against United Nations authority we showed the world that we can do
whatever we want. Then we started setting up secret prisons to torture people and declared that
America will not follow the Geneva Conventions and honor international treaties that we have
agreed to. Because of this America no longer has the trust of the world community and can not
lead the would like it once had.

There is a price to pay for thumbing our noses at the world community.
Our military is overextended, our economy is weak, and no one likes us anymore.

CIA Closed Osama Unit

 Link

 Excerpt:
The CIA has closed a unit that for a decade had the mission of hunting Osama and his top lieutenants,
intelligence officials confirmed Monday.  The unit, known as Alec Station, was disbanded late last year
and its analysts reassigned within the C.I.A. Counterterrorist Center, the officials said.

The decision is a milestone for the agency, which formed the unit before Osama became a household name
and bolstered its ranks after 9-11, when Bush pledged to bring Mr. bin Laden to justice "dead or alive."

"I take this sacred vow that we
will never stop looking for him."

...but now that the voters can't punish me,
I don't know or care what happens to him.

Subject: BCR 94 feedback

Bart,

Show #94 was another in a long line of winners!  Some comments:

Around minute 7-8, in Part 5, the sound quality went a little wonky (as you began to talk about House).
Heard some other minor variations, but nothing that noticeable.
That spot really jerked me out of your head and back into the world.

The Butler song was a riot!
BTW, here's a link, if you need it:

Love the TV talk!  Keep that going.
Tally's spot was great, as usual.

"So Bush gave up on hunting Osama a year ago and never told us. Real nice. And spare us the
"they're still hunting for him" bs. They're not hunting for him if they disbanded the special unit
that's been hunting for him for ten years. And by the way, that means it was Bill Clinton who
decided way before 9-11 that we needed to get bin Laden, and it was Bush who gave up the fight."

How to Beat "cut & run"

 Link

 Excerpt:
After escaping indictment, Rove is focused again on what he does best: ginning up the slime machine.
Anyone who dares criticize Bush's Iraq disaster is a "cut-and-run" Democrat. The White House's object here
is not to engage in a real debate about an exit strategy from Iraq; that would require acknowledging some
complications, like the fact that Gen. Casey believes it's time to start bringing some troops home. The object is
instead to either get the Democrats tangled up in Kerryesque complexities on Iraq - or intimidate them into
changing the subject to other, less-potent issues for fear of looking like unpatriotic pansies.

Subject: religious insanity

Religion exists for two things: power and money.
Ever since Moooogg the caveman saw his neighbor Ooogg eaten by a cave bear, and claimed
he knew where Ooogg had gone, then demanded an extra share of the meat for that knowledge,
it's been about nothing else.

There is no difference between a naked savage dancing around a fire with a dead chicken in his hand
and the pope in his gold-encrusted robes: both want power over their neighbors, and both want money.
Religion prospers on the backs of the gullible because it panders to humanity's greatest question:
what happens when you die?  People are so afraid of death that they will gladly hand over their money
and control over their lives to anyone who gives them a happy-talk about the afterlife.

Bush to cut & run on Immigration

 Link

 Excerpt:
On the eve of nationwide hearings that could determine the fate of his immigration bill, Bush is signaling
a new willingness to negotiate with House Republicans in an effort to revise the stalled legislation before
Election Day. Republicans both inside and outside the White House say Mr. Bush, who has long insisted
on comprehensive reform, is now open to a so-called enforcement-first approach that would put new
border security programs in place before creating a guest worker program or path to citizenship for
people living in the United States illegally.

Subject: Kennyboy's dead

Hey Bart,

So Kennyboy is dead. I know, I know, good riddance and all, but isn't it just a bit too convenient?
Him dying just as he's been convicted, but before he himself can name names?

He could have said volumes about Bush, Cheney, and their whole stinky operation.
Now he's fertilizer. It sucks to be so cynical and suspicious about our "leaders,"
but they've earned it.

Bush's phoney bullhorn moment

 Link

 Excerpt:
Another less-publicized aspect of the ad flap: the use of paid actors—including two playing firefighters
with fire hats and uniforms in what looks like a fire station. "Where the hell did they get those guys?"
cracked Harold Schaitberger, president of the Fire Fighters unions, that endorsed Kerry

"There's many reasons not to use real firemen," retorted one Bush media adviser.
"Mainly, its cheaper and quicker."

Last Stand
  by Seymour M. Hersh

 Link

 Excerpt:
Inside the Pentagon, senior commanders have increasingly challenged the President's plans. The generals
and admirals have told Bush that the bombing campaign will probably not destroy Iran's nuclear program.
They have also warned that an attack could lead to serious economic, political, and military consequences.

A crucial issue in the military's dissent, the officers said, is the fact that intelligence agencies have not found
specific evidence of clandestine activities or hidden facilities; the war planners are not sure what to hit.
"When does innocent infrastructure evolve into something nefarious?"  The general added that the military's
experience in Iraq, where intelligence on WMDs was deeply flawed, has affected its approach to Iran.
"We built this big monster with Iraq, and there was nothing there. This is son of Iraq," he said.

"There is a war about the war going on inside the building," a Pentagon consultant said.
"If we go, we have to find something."

What the NY Times Revealed
  by Gene Lyons

 Link

 Excerpt:
The key thing about the infamous New York Times scoop that's drawn the theatrical wrath of the
Bush administration is the last thing you'll hear from the newspaper's embattled editors: how little
real news it contained. Nobody who's paying attention could be surprised that U. S. agents monitor
international money transfers. Bush has been patting himself on the back about it for years. The June 28
edition of MSNBC's "Countdown" led with several video clips of Bush touting U. S. plans for cutting
al-Qa'ida's cash flow. On Sept. 24, 2001, while the rubble of the WTC was still smoking, Bush announced
the "Foreign Terrorist Asset Tracking Center at the Department of the Treasury to identify and investigate
the financial infrastructure of the international terrorist networks."

Subject: Oswald

It's really simple:

The one thing required of the Warren Commission is the one thing it did not produce.
Even if you stipulate to all the evidence as indicating what they say it indicates (which is extremely unlikely),
the one thing the evidence does not do is place *THAT* rifle, in Lee Harvey Oswald's hands, on the 6th
floor of the Texas School Book depository at 1 PM on November 22, 1963, and firing the fatal shot,
to the exclusion of all other persons, weapons, and locations.

Bart, isn't that sickening? I wonder which weasel coached him on that pose?
Those poor policemen and firemen, his natural constituency, being lied to about the air quality at ground zero.
And now they've all got cancer.

P.S: Do you think the "liberal" N.Y. Times would publish an article about
how New Yorkers were pimped by Bush?

No, their job is to protect Bush, hold damning news about him and lie for him.

A July Fourth Call to Arms
by Brent Budowsky  as seen on  consortiumnews.com

 Link

 Excerpt:
George W. Bush has spurred Republican congressmen and his right-media allies into an ugly assault
on the New York Times and other news outlets for not obeying Bush's edicts on what information can be
released about the "war on terror." In this guest essay, political analyst Brent Budowsky comments on how
those accusations of treason and espionage are an affront to the principles of a free press that the Founders
established as a bedrock of democracy
