Bill, I can't speak for Cindy, but I think her point is that, under
Bush, America now stands for
rape, torture, murders, invasions, man-piles, plundering, more torture,
rendering etc etc etc.
The last thing Bush's America stands for is free speech.

Biblical
Pacifism to the Crusades
by Nat Parry
consortiumnews.com
Excerpt:
Though the Crusades date back almost a millennium,
they continue to color events in
today's Middle East, as many Muslims view U.S.
intervention through that ancient prism.
But the Crusades also marked a shift in Christianity
away from the pacifism taught by
Jesus to the self-righteous use of violence espoused
by Bush and many modern Christians.

GOP: Wage
hike for tax cuts
For every dime, they get $100,000
Yahoo
News
Excerpt:
Fascist Republican leaders are willing to allow
the first minimum wage increase in a decade
but only if it's coupled with a cut in inheritance
taxes on multimillion-dollar estates.
A package GOP leaders planned to bring to a vote
Friday or Saturday in the House also
would renew several popular tax breaks, including
a research and development credit for
businesses, and deductions for college tuition
and state sales taxes, said a spokesman for
House Majority Leader John Boner, R-Ohio.
Doesn't it figure?
Why do the super-rich need more money so badly?
Did the Democrats get played again?
Are they going to "settle" on giving the GOP everything they want?
Is the GOP so afraid of losing control of congress this November
that they gotta steal everything that isn't nailed down right now?

Subject: soldiers families
The PR departments of EVERY division or other
sub-unit use tax-payer money to
'brainwash' the dependents and loved ones of
every soldier by sending out their unit's
slick little brochure (actually, a small magazine)
to the 'home-front every month.
I know...I get one from the division to which
my grandson is assigned.
These 'propaganda' pieces would never criticize
the C-in-C, and those at home are
led to believe that yhings are 'hunky-dory' in
Iraq...never is there an article exposing
the evil and criminal ineptitude of the entire
enterprise.
You are 100 percent correct...the families should
be raising hell.
It's real mean to say, but makes one wonder if
some of them do not
secretly hope to collect the $400.000.00.
Another way to put the cost of blood on the poorest

Sleazy:
Midwife From Hell
truthout.org
Excerpt:
After being one of the most inept national security
advisers in the nation's history,
Condoleezza Rice is now earning the same grade
as secretary of state.
Her description of the conflagration in Lebanon
as the "birthpangs of a new Middle East"
was about as callous as it gets, matched only
by Bush's remark that the conflict represents
"a moment of opportunity." The 400 Lebanese who
have died, an overwhelming number
of them civilian and many of them children, were
not feeling any birthpangs.
They were feeling deathpangs.
Nor were families of the Israeli victims (about
50 so far, and most of them soldiers) cheering
the new day, either. Rice's cruel opposition
to an immediate cease-fire has left the whole world
outside of Israel (and Tony Blair's kennel) aghast.
And Bolton's sneering about a cease-fire
not being "the alpha and omega" only reinforced
the arrogance.

Stryker
team stuck in Iraq
Rummy goes back on his word
Anchoragedailynews
Excerpt:
He was in Iraq when she found out she was pregnant,
and still there when the baby first kicked.
But Staff Sgt. Rick Glanz was supposed to be
home Saturday, well in time for the November birth.
But not now, thanks to Rumsfeld, Glanz's brigade
which deployed to Iraq a year ago is now being
called on for its experience and combat smarts.
"I'm very upset. I'm very disappointed. I'm ready
for him to come home. It's been a long year,"
said Celeste Glanz, who last saw her husband
in February when he was home on leave.
The Stryker troops were all expected home in the
next few weeks.
Now weddings and vacations and all other family
plans are up in the air.
The brigade commander says that the extended
tour is open-ended...
We have at least two kinds of soldiers in Iraq.
The newbie kids who aren't trained and aren't equipt
and the do-I-need-ro-shoot-myself-to-get home, been-there-forevers.
Gee, it's almost a recipe for disaster.

Subject: Did Jesus exist?
Bart,
Sometimes I get annoyed, but not angry, with a
lot of the atheistic comments expressed on your site
but I can deal with it. If people want
to believe there is no spiritual world and that love, beauty, art
and music are just enzymes going crazy in their
brain they have that right.
What?
You seem to be linking the nuttiest of notions
to those who reject the silly ghost idea.
What do love and music have to do with rejecting
religious superstitions?
However, as a progressive Christian I must comment
when someone says Jesus did not exist
because there were no writings by early Christians.
There are many writings by early Christians
that were written long before the bible.
Why would all of these writings exist if there were no
Jesus in the first place? Why would so
many common people make so much up about nothing?
Whether there was a virgin birth, is the rapture
real, will a physical Jesus actually return, and
whether the Bible is written metaphorically are
all valid issues to contemplate.
I'm sorry the subject came up because I couldn't
care less.
I'd rather read about Paris Hilton's day than
someone's opinions about Jesus,
assuming there's no imminent invasion and genocide
planned in His name..
Here

Google "early Christians" and you will get plenty
of things to study.

Publish the truth?
It takes courage to publish the truth.
Israel, or rather the Jewish state, tried to take
over Arab lands about 50 or 60 years ago.
They tried?
Problem is, the Arab world is not North America.
The Arabs and Muslims are not going to go the
way of the North American Indian.
I didn't ask them to...
You, I guess a white fuck living on Indian land

are part of the race that committed genocide
against the native peoples.
I confess, I killed them with my bare hands.
BTW, do you know BC Johnny?
He uses words similar to yours.
Do you think that 300 to 400 Arab Muslims are
going to allow 5 or 6 million
religiously insane Jews to take over any part
of their world, like Palestine?
So ...Israel hasn't taken over any Palestinian
land?
I thought you said, ...nevermind.
Come on, Bart.
If the Jews keep Palestine, I will move to Oklyyhomaa
to retire.

Dude, you better hope Israel keeps "Palestine" because they have nukes
and they're not going to go down without using them first - trust me.

Subject: Is Bush behind Israel's
Invasion of Lebanon?
People are wondering if Bush is behind Israel's
invasion of Lebanon.
Why would people wonder that? Perhaps it's their
plan.
Israel is going to bomb Lebanon into loving Israel.
Kind of sounds like Bush's plan
for Iraq where victory is defined as defeating
the people who we are there to liberate.
When you see a country with a really bad idea
looking for any excuse to start a war
and everything about it is wrong and dishonest,
that's the Bush style of making decisions.
I think Bush was trying to use Israel to start
a proxy war with Iran and Syria and has
failed to do it. All it's doing is making America
and Israel weaker.

Rage in
the GOP
WaHoPo
Excerpt:
I first became aware of the spreading discontent
on the right in visiting with people in the
church social hall after the funeral this spring
for Lyn Nofziger, Reagan's press spokesman.
The comments about the Bush White House people
-- who were notable by their absence
at the service -- startled me. But since then
I have heard the refrain over and over:
They never reached out to us. They never thought
they needed our help. Now they're in trouble.
To hell with them. Whether or not the complaints
are justified, they are epidemic. They are often
accompanied, as they were in the case of my weekend
visitor, by the comment that everything
the White House does seems to be aimed at pleasing
only one section of the Republican coalition
-- the religious right. That is why there was
so much high-fiving on e-mails and phone calls among
other Republicans over the defeat last week of
Ralph Reed, the one-time driving force of Pat
Robertson's religious-political movement who
lost the nomination for lieutenant governor of
Georgia because of his links to disgraced lobbyist
Jack Abramoff.

Subject: stuck in Iraq
Bart,
I'm actually in that unit
you mentioned. I was sent home a month early to help get everything
ready
for the people coming back in main body.
When we found out, it was a madhouse around here.
We had just gotten one load of soldiers back
from Iraq, and we were expecting another one the next day.
Supposedly the second flight got turned around
after it had taken off. Good times.
Who are the families supposed to go to, Bart?
You think the Representatives are going to do anything?
I mean with one hand you ask "What would evil
men do to keep power?" and the next thing you're asking
"Why aren't they doing anything?"
They'll nod and say "So sad, indeed," and do what
the fuck they wanted to anyway while using words like
"battle hardened veterans who want to go to Baghdad".
Bullshit,
everyone just wants to go home.
I'm stop lossed, Bart. I've been in the Army for
over four years now. I was supposed to get out
last month, but here I still am, and now they're
telling me I might not get out until next year.
My Senator is Biden, what the fuck do you think
he's going to do for me?
(withheld)
I don't expect the soldiers to speak up and get in trouble.
Do they punish the soldiers if the family speaks out?
What about the families of the dead?
I'm real tired of hearing, "He died doing
something he loved."
Sorry to hear you're stuck in Bush's quagmire.
