Al-Qaeda's
'Simon Says'
by Robert Parry
consortiumnews.com
Excerpt:
One Republican pro-Iraq War argument is that
Americans must listen to al-Qaeda's calls for
driving U.S. forces out of Iraq and thus recommit
to keep U.S. troops there. But there is a
danger of playing into al-Qaeda's hands through
a kind of a reverse "Simon Says," telling
Americans what to do when al-Qaeda really wants
the opposite.

Osama to instill fear
Link
Excerpt:
Quoting repeatedly from former partner Osama,
Bush said that pulling U.S. troops out of Iraq would
fulfill the terrorist leader's wishes and propel
him into a more powerful global threat in the mold of Adolf Hitler.
Actually, the opposite is true.
Occupying Arab lands fuels the terrorist's recruiting drive.
With two months until an election that could hold
Bush accountable for his crimes, Bush laid out
Osama's vision in detail, including new revelations
from possibly fabricated documents.
Voters united behind Der Mopnkey after 9-11,
and his speech was designed to convince
Americans that the threat of more terror attacks
is just one Democratic victory away.
"That is why we must not, and we will not, give
the enemy victory in Iraq by deserting the unmetered
oil fields that are making me and my crime family
richer than any gang on Earth," Bush said.

Taliban
retaking Afghanistan
Link
Excerpt:
The Taliban have regained control over the southern
half of Afghanistan and their frontline
is advancing daily, a group closely monitoring
the Afghan situation said in a report Tuesday.
The report comes as the fifth anniversary of
"My Pet Goat" approaches.
"The Taliban frontline now cuts halfway through
the country, encompassing all of the southern
provinces," the Senlis Council report says. The
report says also that "a humanitarian crisis of
starvation and poverty has gripped the south
of the country." The report blames "the U.S. and
UK-led failed counter-narcotics and military
policies" for this situation.
Everybody was behind Bush invading Afghamistan because they sheltered
Osama.
But Bush got greedy and decided he wanted to steal Iraq's oil instead
of getting Osama
so now we're losing both wars.
Oh well, Bush's oil buddies got their tens of billions of profit.
I guess that's the important thing...

Subject: peace symbol on soldier's
helmet
Bart,
I wanted to write to see if you or any of your
dozens of readers noticed something on I saw on the
first edition of Katie's news show. There
was a report on Afghanistan (and how we're losing to the
Taliban there), when there was a shot of GIs,
and one of them had a big black patch on his helmet.
(He was on the left side of the screen.)
It was of a peace symbol, and I could read the words
"American" and "chicken." Did anyone else
see it? Even rewinding on the dvr and watching it
several times, I couldn't read it clearly.
Surely the guys in the miliary are not dissing
those of us who are fighting for peace and trying to
bring them home alive? Are they allowed
to have something like that on their uniforms (doesn't seem
regulation to me, even if they wanted to SUPPORT
peace)?
I always flashback to my dad's angry response
whenever I wore a peace symbol in the 70s
(he was a B52 pilot with 3 tours of Viet Nam;
I grew up on military bases, so the war and death was,
unfortunately, the norm): the peace symbol
is chicken tracks.
So that's what I figured I was seeing on that
soldier's helmet.
Looking forward to any other discussion of this.
Your huge fan,
Sofie
Sofie, you're not going to like it:
It was a peace sign with the words, "Footprint
of the American Chicken."
He also had a backwards flag
...whatever that means.
Apparently, the idiot wants to die in Afghanistan.
Apparently, he's proud of Bush's decision to capture Iraq's oil rather
than Osama.
If he'd rather be at war with his platoon than home with his wife and
kids - I give up.

Sure, did anybody say we shouldn't spy

The problem is - Bush wants to spy without
a record of who he spied on.
That's the only difference.
We always said he should do it legally, but
he doesn't want a record of who

Cohen doesn't like Her, so the spinning starts.
In his "Hiding" attack, he spends the first seven
paragraphs bemoaning the fact
that She's so far ahead of whoever her challengers
might be, the Democrat can't
raise any money against her and the Republicans
refuse to fund a serious candidate
in a losing race. So - we hate her for
being a winner?
Excerpt:
And despite a New York Times editorial this week
chiding Hillary Clinton to explain her Iraq
position in debate, don't count on her appearing
this Sunday at a public forum in New York City
titled "How To Get Out of Iraq."
She's been invited to participate, as have
all New York senate candidates.
ha ha
There are only two, Jeff, and Schumer's not up
for re-election..
Are you intentionally misleading the reader into
thinkinking "everybody" will be there but Her?
So far Sen. Clinton hasn't responded to the invitation,
while Tasini has confirmed that he'll be there.
The forum features Scott Ritter, Ray McGovern,
and myself.
What could she gain by showing up to a public fistfight so Ritter, McGovern,
Cohen and Tasini
can pounce on her 4-to-1 and get a photo-op and a nasty headlines in
the Daily Whore?
Sidebar:
The NY Daily Whore would take 300
pictures of her and print the very worst one.
Ritter and McGovern are two experts whose assessments
of the Iraq situation have been remarkably
accurate and astute -- unlike the "experts" Sen.
Clinton relied on when she voted to authorize the war
and to support the ongoing occupation.
Cheap shot and it assumes "facts" not in evidence.
If he's going to mock Her "experts" he should
name one.
The only one we know for sure is a certain former
president who *I* think
knows more about world politics than Jeff Cohen
could learn in 100 years.
If you are a New York voter, why not call Sen.
Clinton's office at 212.688.6262 and politely
encourage her to show up at this Sunday's event?
It takes place at Judson Church starting at 7:00 PM.

Question: Is Bush going to bring the troops home if She calls
for it?
Are other Democrats going to follow her lead? Like they followed
Murtha?
If Hillary turned into Code Pink-Cindy Sheehan-Hanoi Hillary overnight
- what would change, besides the ad rates on FOX Whore News?
Clarification:
Ain't nothing wrong with being Code Pink
or Cindy Sheehan, besides the
scare factor that a candidate for president
doesn't need in a tight race.
Does Jeff Cohen (He's not an idiot) really believe that
Jonathan Tasini would do a
better job as NY senator? Or that he might have a shot to make
Washington BFEE-free in '08?
Of course he doesn't - which means his motives are something other
than sending the strongest
of these two Democrats back to the battle in DC. So - what
could Jeff Cohen's real motives be?
Can't rule it in, can't rule it out, but there's LOTS of money to be
made by attacking the Clintons.
Jeff, you've done more good than harm - and you're still my good
friend - but explain yourself!
You're betting Jonathan
Tasini can beat Hillary?
Are you serious?
No, you're not - so what's the real reason?

Bush: No
sense of decency?
Keith Olbermann is down on Fascist liars
truthout.org
Excerpt:
It is to the President's deep personal regret
- that he has followed Rummy down the path of
trying to tie those loyal Americans who disagree
with his policies - or even question their
effectiveness or execution - to the Nazis of
the past, and the al Qaeda of the present.
Today - without ever actually saying so - Bush
quoted a purported Bin Laden letter that spoke
of launching, "a media campaign to create a wedge
between the American people and their government."
Make no mistake here - the intent of that is to
get us to confuse the psychotic scheming of Osama
with that familiar bogeyman of the right, the
"media."
Bush and Cheney have often attacked freedom of
speech and freedom of the press. Bush is
accomplishing in part what Osama Bin Laden and
others seek - a fearful American populace,
easily manipulated, and willing to throw away
any measure of restraint, any loyalty to our own
ideals and freedoms, for the comforting illusion
of safety.
And it becomes necessary to ask: "Have you
no sense of decency, sir?"

I really hate it when you take what I wrote out
of context.
It happens a lot to those of us that have the
gall to challenge you on something.
Your posted reply to my email did that in spades.
I
asked you four questions.
Of course none of the gay people I know have suggested
that it was a matter of choice.
I never said that homosexuality was a matter
of "choice."
In fact, I explicitly said it is a lot more complicated
than either "choice" or "biology."
I thought you were taking science out of the equation.
That's why I asked the questions, to clarify
your unclear-to-my-eyes stance.
Just like the Religious Right Nuts that claim
that homosexuality is nothing but choice,
you've taken the opposing and equally ludicrous
claim that it is nothing but biology.
You're upset and not thinking straight.
Medical science is NOT the "equally
ludicrous claim" that ignorant bigotry is.
None of the studies have suggested any such thing.
The clearest of them have merely indicated that
there may be a biological tendency in certain populations.
What happens to an individual throughout their
formative years often affects that "tendency."
It's still not a choice, but it's also not biologically
absolute.
I used to like writing to you and expressing my
own observations, opinions, ideas.
But lately, it seems you don't ever bother to
address a post except to twist it and demean the poster.
Too bad.

ABC to air
"Blame Clinton 9-11" comedy
Link
Excerpt:
Just bubbling up from the blogs into the mainstream
press is debate over
"The Path to 911," the horseshit
movie ABC airs on Sept 10-11.
Liberals have charged that it blames Clinton
for Bush's 9/11 failures.
Meanwhile, Richard Clarke and Sandy Berger say
the movie is fiction.
ABC and Whitewash co-chair Thomas Kean have said
it is not literal truth.
But only right-wingers have seen the film - what
are they hiding?
Al Franken and David Brock say there's a scene in the movie where we
had Osama's
house surrounded (Osama's house?) but Clinton refused
to allow his capture.
Problem is - that never happened - nothing even close to that happened.
But the stupid Americans (about half) still think Saddam caused
9-11,
so ABC-Disney continues to feed misinformation to the ignorant.
Too bad the Democrats are afraid to challenge the lies the way the truth
was
challenged and CBS was forced to take off that puffball movie
about Reagan.
It the recurring theme.
The GOP attacks and the Democrats cower in the corner.
