The thinking was that Gates would represent the
"realists." Hillary Clinton and other Democrats
praised Gates for his "candor" when he acknowledged
the obvious, that the war in Iraq wasn't being won.
Since the confirmation vote, Bush and Gates have
signaled that they have no intention of extricating
the U.S. military from the Iraq quagmire. They
still insist on nothing short of "victory" or "success,"
no matter how much blood must be spilled over
the next two years to avert defeat.
At his swearing-in, Gates endorsed Bush's contention
that a U.S. military withdrawal
without victory in Iraq and Afghanistan is unacceptable.
Gates was under oath when he told those lies.
The democrats voted for him because he said Iraq
was a big disaster.
Now that he's confirmed (They never listen to
me) he's pro-war.

For once, I have to agree with you.
So, this is the first time you've been right?
You should agree with me almost all the time.
There is an AFRES rescue squadron that operates
out of Portland International, and an Army
aviation unit out of Ft. Lewis that goes up to
Mt. Hood everytime one of these idiots gets lost.
They never ask if the idiots took precautions
or knew what they were doing- they just go,
and really bust their asses trying to save these
Darwin Award candidates.
Its dangerous work, too. The winds at that
altitude, whipping around a mountain, are highly unpredictable.
Add the thin air, and the performance problems
helicopters have in it, and you have one sporty sortie.
But they go, regardless, because that's the kind
of people they are.
Every time some idiot gets lost up there, they
are literally putting the lives of brave servicemen in danger.
And for what? So that some idiot with too
much money and time on his hands can get really high up?
I say, screw 'em - let 'em freeze.

A report released today by a marijuana public
policy analyst contends that the market value
of pot produced in the U.S. exceeds $35 billion

heartland staples as corn, soybeans and hay,
which are the top three legal cash crops.
California is responsible for more than a third
of the cannabis harvest, with an estimated
production of $13.8 billion that exceeds the
value of the state's grapes, vegetables and
hay combined - and marijuana is the top cash
crop in a dozen states, the report states.

Whore Newsweak hides the truth

So I just got off the phone with Newsweek editor
Jon Meacham. As noted below, the mag's big cover
story on Hillary and Obama is taking a beating
in the liberal blogosphere because it failed to include poll
numbers that show Clinton beating McCain and
Giuliani in head-to-head matchups -- numbers which
you'd think are relevant to the story.
Rather than include the numbers in the story,
the mag released them on PR Newswire yesterday
-- where they were likely to go unseen by the
great majority of Newsweek readers.
Well of course they don't want the facts to come
out.
That pisses me off, and it should piss you off,
but a lot of liberals feel the same way.
They want to hide the truth and pretend she isn't
going to win.
Why would you want lying whores like Newsweek
to pick your president for you?
