Gates Lines
Up with Bush
by Robert Parry
consortiumnews.com
Excerpt:
The thinking was that Gates would represent the
"realists." Hillary Clinton and other Democrats
praised Gates for his "candor" when he acknowledged
the obvious, that the war in Iraq wasn't being won.
Since the confirmation vote, Bush and Gates have
signaled that they have no intention of extricating
the U.S. military from the Iraq quagmire. They
still insist on nothing short of "victory" or "success,"
no matter how much blood must be spilled over
the next two years to avert defeat.
At his swearing-in, Gates endorsed Bush's contention
that a U.S. military withdrawal
without victory in Iraq and Afghanistan is unacceptable.
Gates was under oath when he told those lies.
The democrats voted for him because he said Iraq
was a big disaster.
Now that he's confirmed (They never listen to
me) he's pro-war.

Subject: Mt Hood Rescue
For once, I have to agree with you.
So, this is the first time you've been right?
You should agree with me almost all the time.
There is an AFRES rescue squadron that operates
out of Portland International, and an Army
aviation unit out of Ft. Lewis that goes up to
Mt. Hood everytime one of these idiots gets lost.
They never ask if the idiots took precautions
or knew what they were doing- they just go,
and really bust their asses trying to save these
Darwin Award candidates.
Its dangerous work, too. The winds at that
altitude, whipping around a mountain, are highly unpredictable.
Add the thin air, and the performance problems
helicopters have in it, and you have one sporty sortie.
But they go, regardless, because that's the kind
of people they are.
Every time some idiot gets lost up there, they
are literally putting the lives of brave servicemen in danger.
And for what? So that some idiot with too
much money and time on his hands can get really high up?
I say, screw 'em - let 'em freeze.
Have a Merry Christmas,
Shamus
I think you got your wish.
We made some history here - in all the time there's been a bartcop.com

Pot - our
biggest cash crop
Why face the facts when you can pretend?
Link
Excerpt:
For years, activists in the marijuana legalization
movement have claimed that cannabis
is America's biggest cash crop. Now they're citing
government statistics to prove it.
A report released today by a marijuana public
policy analyst contends that the market value
of pot produced in the U.S. exceeds $35 billion
- far more than the crop value of such
heartland staples as corn, soybeans and hay,
which are the top three legal cash crops.
California is responsible for more than a third
of the cannabis harvest, with an estimated
production of $13.8 billion that exceeds the
value of the state's grapes, vegetables and
hay combined - and marijuana is the top cash
crop in a dozen states, the report states.
Duh, you mean math means something?
A farmer gets what for a pound of soybeans - sixty cents?
He can get $3000 for a pound of pot, but the Invisible Cloud Being
would be angry,
so we wallow in the lies we've told ourselves to please the nonexistent
ghost entity.

"It appears we've all agreed to forget that
Bush has insisted that he would let the
troop levels be determined by the commanders
on the ground. Now Bush wants to
increase troop levels against the commander's

Why isn't it in every news story about

Doing things
Bush's way
Link
Excerpt:
All we wanted was a plausible Iraq strategy.
Last week, Tony Snow, explained why this was unrealistic.
Bush, he said, "is moving toward a decision on
how to move forward." He continued:
"I know a lot of you have been curious about when
he would talk about the way forward.
That is not going to happen until the new year.
We do not know when, so I can't give you a date."
Seven out of ten Americans disapprove of Bush's
Iraq performance. For them, Snow said.
"The most important thing, is that Bush continues
to be engaged in the business of talking
about the way forward."
In other words - he's got nothing and more nothing is on the horizon.
Meanwhile, men and women die every day while Bush is trying to think.
"I'm
making $350 million dollars a day.
What's
the big hurry to get done with this war?"

Whore Newsweak
hides the truth
electioncentral.tpmcafe.com
Excerpt:
So I just got off the phone with Newsweek editor
Jon Meacham. As noted below, the mag's big cover
story on Hillary and Obama is taking a beating
in the liberal blogosphere because it failed to include poll
numbers that show Clinton beating McCain and
Giuliani in head-to-head matchups -- numbers which
you'd think are relevant to the story.
Rather than include the numbers in the story,
the mag released them on PR Newswire yesterday
-- where they were likely to go unseen by the
great majority of Newsweek readers.
Well of course they don't want the facts to come
out.
That pisses me off, and it should piss you off,
but a lot of liberals feel the same way.
They want to hide the truth and pretend she isn't
going to win.
Why would you want lying whores like Newsweek
to pick your president for you?

Subject: 2007 - Year of the meltdown
It's that time of the year to make predictions
for the new coming year.
What will the year 2007 bring? What will 2007
be known for?
My prediction is that 2007 will be the year of
the meltdown.
I predict that when 2007 is over that the word
"meltdown"
will be the word that describes the year.
But in the long run it will be a good thing because
America has
turned it's back on reality and melting down
is part of the healing process.

Bush's Iraqi
Double Down
by Ivan Eland
consortiumnews.com
Excerpt:
Bush seems determined to "double down" his bet
on the Iraq War despite overwhelming public opposition
and recommendations for a phased withdrawal from
the bipartisan Iraq Study Group. Bush is now toying
with the idea of adding 15,000 to 30,000 more
U.S. troops, a scheme called "The Surge."
While many of Bush's neoconservative advisers
are in favor, the President is running into opposition from
the top Pentagon brass, including the entire
Joint Chiefs, according to a 12-19 WaHoPo article on Dec. 19.
Clearly, however, prospects for an early end
to the U.S. military occupation of Iraq continue to dim.
In this guest essay, Ivan Eland offers his Top

Subject: Excuse me
So those that died in Somila were what?
Not dead right those bodies they drug through
the streets were fakes trying to make Clinton look bad?
Lying is good but wait until history blurrs people's
memory a little more.
Jim
Good thing I have experience deciphering monkey talk.
I replied, Jim, Bush 41 sent those men to Somalia without armor.
Sorry don't agree.
You disagree thatBush 41 sent those
men to Somalia without armor?.
You don't have the option to disagree with that.
In your universe, who sent
those men to Somalia without the armor they'd
need when outnumbered 10 to 1?
Bush 41 lost his power to command on January 20,
1993.
All decisions on battles belong to Clinton after
that.
But the deadly error had already been made.
The quote was never sent into battle.
Battles are indiviual events the orginal mission
was peace keeping and feeding them not capturing and killing.
That was Mr. Aspen who made the decision to purse
and not provide armor. Or air support.
On behalf of Mr. Clinton.
noun
1. a hostile meeting of opposing
military forces in the course of a war;
On October 3, 1993, a mission involving scores
of U.S. Special Operations forces went astray
when one of their Blackhawk helicopters was shot
down over Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia.
Outnumbered 10 to 1, the U.S. forces escaped
with 18 killed while hundreds of Somalis died.
Jim, it's my guess no amount of facts will change your mind, but Bush
was a former
CIA director who sent our soldiers into a terrorist stronghold without
armor.
Which part of that is wrong?
Bush wasn't a former CIA director?
Bush didn't send those men to Somalia?
Bush did send armor, but they lost it?
You said, "Outnumbered 10 to 1,..."
so why didn't Bush send armor?
He should have known better PLUS he only did that only after losing
the election.
Perhaps you meant to say, "Clinton should have
known Bush's Somalia plan
would be a disaster and withdrawn the troops
right away?"
Clinton never did anything that stupid.
Are you OK with Bush's 3,000 dead in Iraq, too?
