Are Democrats
Afraid of a Myth?
by Robert Parry
consortiumnews.com
Excerpt:
Over the next few weeks, the congressional Democratic
majorities must decide how scared they still are
of George W. Bush and his right-wing attack machine.
Or put differently, can a weakened President still
intimidate Democrats by questioning their patriotism
or doubting their support for the troops?
Bush has thrown down the gauntlet with his demand
for another $105 billion in war funding without "strings"
attached. He also has warned that he would veto
any measure that seeks to limit his discretion over how to
fight the war in Iraq.
He's bluffing - do the Democrats have the
cajones
to call his bluff?
They should attach repeals of Bush's tax cuts
for the super-rich to any wartime spending bills.
All they have to say is, "We
want to pay for this war, not charge it to our grandchildren."
Then Bush has two options:
He can veto the money for the troops
or
he can insist that our grandchildren pay for
his bloody quagmire.
IT'S SO EASY
...but the helpless Democrats can't figure
out anything.

Subject: what Bush called Pickles
Bart, this is from waynemadsenreport.com
"March 13, 2007 -- Our sources have witnessed
a clearly inebriated Bush approaching members
of the press corps and making rude comments,
including one particularly crude remark about
First Lady Laura Bush. Bush,
nodding toward Laura, called her a "c**t."
While Bush's drinking is no secret to the White
House press contingent, that particular comment
was reportedly the worst they have heard uttered
by Bush. Our sources also report that Laura's
stays at the White House are less frequent
and that her overnight trips to the Mayflower Hotel
often coincide with the president's drunken
binges.
Note: Some of our female readers were shocked
to see the "C" word in the above news item.
This editor wants to make it clear that word
was used by George W. Bush to denigrate his wife.
It was his word, not mine. Bush chose a public
press gaggle to use this word -- not a private moment.
Since everything else in the spot is true, why
wouldn't the "c" word be true?

Bart,
Thanks man. I listened to show 109 last night
and as usual loved it.
The bit about San Ramon was great.
I'm in an apartment in Marin County where the
average home price tops $800,000.
It's absolute fucking madness out here. The foreclosure
rate in the US is skyrocketing.
How the dumb fucks paying that much for a house
EVER thought they would be able
to pay the mortgage once the "teaser" rate expired
is beyond comprehension.
The cost of housing is ruining America and the
loan brokers making loans like that ought to be castrated.
Unfettered capitalism is worse than communism,
IMnotsoHO.
Jim
When you do the math it looks like this:
Say a 1350 sq ft wood house in San Ramon (No view) costs
$700,000.
Payments are $7,000 a month for 360 months = $2.5
million for a tiny house.
A 1550 sq ft brick house in Tulsa (No view) costs
$80,000.
Payments are $800 a month for 360 months = $288,000
for a bigger brick house
If you can send them $1200 a month, your home only costs $200,000
You can make all the Tulsa jokes you want,
but what in CA is worth giving up $2,000,000 for?

America's
penchant for mowing 'em down
Mike Palecek interviewed by Jason Miller
smirkingchimp.com
Excerpt:
Having read and thoroughly enjoyed three of Mike
Palecek's novels, I felt particularly fortunate that he agreed
to engage in a cyber-interview with me. His irreverent
satirization of the myriad of ills plaguing the United States
is unparalleled amongst current authors of sociopolitical
fiction. Palecek may hyperbolize, but his fertile imagination
has afforded US Americans a priceless opportunity
to stop and examine what we are becoming as a nation.
And he has done so in a fashion that is both
absorbing and entertaining.
In some ways Palecek's offerings are analogous
with Sinclair Lewis's It Can't Happen Here.
Though in Lewis's case, he was prognosticating.
Palecek is documenting what has already transpired.

Trouble
for Tortureboy?
Link
Excerpt:
As Democrats meekly called for Tortureboy to
resign, he shot back by insisting that
he would not resign but said, "I acknowledge
that mistakes were made here."
With Bush busy dancing in Mexico, the White House
insisted that the president's role had been minimal
and laid the blame primarily on Harriet E. Miers,
the woman Bush insisted was the most qualified person
in America," for a lifetime appointment to the
Supreme Court, a nomiation that was laughed into history
by the likes of Ann Coulter and Rush Limbaugh.
But two Republicans, who spoke anonymously, said
top aides to Mr. Bush, including Fred F. Fielding,
the new White House counsel that you remember
from Watergate 34 years ago, were concerned that the
controversy had so damaged Tortureboy's credibility
that he would be unable to advance the White House
agenda on national security matters, including
terrorism prosecutions.
"I really think there's a serious estrangement
between the White House and Alberto now," one Republicans said.
So, Bush torches "Harry" and Tortureboy in the same day.
The people who hitched their acreers to Bush are so wishing they'd
never done that.

Afghanistan's
'Hard Mission' Slips Away
by Richard Fricker
consortiumnews.com
Excerpt:
Canadian lawmakers have written an Afghanistan
version of the Iraq Study Group report, reaching a
conclusion that the conditions on that original
battlefront in the "war on terror" are grave and deteriorating.
The 16-page Canadian Senate report foresees a
conflict that could drag on for generations
and might well fail unless NATO significantly
increases its commitment of money and troops
In 2001, the United States led an invasion of
the rugged country, toppling its Taliban government and trapping
many al-Qaeda leaders, including Osama bin Laden,
in the mountains of Tora Bora along the Pakistani border.
At that crucial moment, however, Bush failed to
deploy adequate U.S. military forces to capture bin Laden,
who managed to escape on horseback with some
of his key lieutenants into Pakistan.
Two weeks before the last presidential election
(I think it was Oct 19, 2004) Osama sent us a tape
to remind people how scary he was so they'd panic
and vote for "The Decider" which helped him win.
Isn't it obvious why Osama wanted Bush to win?
He's leading Bush around by the nose.

Halliburton:
National disgrace
independent.co.uk
Excerpt:
Halliburton enjoys a unique position within the
US corporate world. "People look at Cheney and say
he is the poster-boy of cronyism but at a bureaucratic
level there has also been a lot of revolving doors
from the Army Corps of Engineers to Halliburton
or else consultants to Halliburton," said Charlie Gray
of HalliburtonWatch.Org
He added: "Given the multiple ongoing investigations into Halliburton's
alleged
wrongdoing, policy-makers should closely scrutinise
Halliburton's latest move, and whether it will allow the
company to further elude accountability. Moreover,
this underscores the need for Congress to bar companies
that have broken the law, or avoided paying taxes,
from receiving federal contracts."
The reason everyone, Dems and Fascists, stopped Bush from turning our
ports over to Dubai
is we don't want foreigners running security in ports where nukes could
be smuggled in.
But now Halliburton is going to become a foreign company and they know
everything about
Bush's bloody quagmire in Iraq. Think about it - Halliburton
is getting paid to FEED our troops.
That tells me they know ehere the troops are - otherwise the troops
wouldn't get fed.
I don't think we should let some Dubai company feed our troops, do you?
Also, Handjob
of the Year - Halliburton swears they have every
intention to stay a US company
so they can pay all the US corporate taxes that are due from
them - who
believes that?

Bart,
Have you ever considered the mutual hate you and
yours and the right wing nut-jobs share
for the Washington Post can mean only one thing;
the paper must be doing a damn good job.
Perhaps you'll respond, or maybe you just come
up with another glib retort involving boots and red asses.
JB
You can't be serious.
How can you suggest such a thing?
Do you believe we found WMDs in Iraq, too?
Take this one sentence from yesterday's page:
The [Libby] trial
has provided convincing evidence that there was no conspiracy to
punish Wilson
by
leaking Plame's identity - and no evidence that she was covert."
Fact: They leaked Plame's
identity,
(Can you argue with that? The Post did)
Fact: Then they promised, "We'll punish
the leakers if we find them."
(Can you deny they said that? The Post did)
Fact: The CIA said Plame
was covert, not Ol' Bart.
(Can you argue with that? The Post did)
You can pretend the facts don't exist, just like the WaHoPo does.
But it won't make you look any smart or seem credible.
The right wing says anyone to Rush's left is a Stalinist.
And Bush's very real, very serious crimes?
The WaHoPo does what they did in that sentence above.
They lie and pretend and cover for
these crooks - but the facts are the facts.

Why I Hate
Her
by Stephen Zunes
wehateclintons.com
Excerpt:
Hillary has assumed front-runner status for the
Democratic Party nomination for president
despite a foreign policy agenda that closely
parallels that of the Bush administration.
She insists that the prospect of Iran getting
nukes "must be unacceptable to the entire world,"
since challenging the nuclear monopoly of the
United States and its allies in the region would
somehow "shake the foundation of global security
to its very core."
Ah-hah!
He hates Israel.
No way Ahmahanjob getting nukes could cause a
problem for Israel, right Stephen?
She was an outspoken supporter of Israel's invasion
of Lebanon. There are questions regarding her integrity.
Long after credible, well-documented published
reports by American and Israeli newspapers and research
institutes had refuted it, she continued to cite
a right-wing group's 1999 report claiming the Palestinian
Authority was publishing anti-Semitic textbooks.
Well see, there you go! Everyone knows the Palestinians
love
the Jews,
and would never print an anti-Israel textbooks
- so why is Hillary lying again?
Sarcasm aside:
You can't can get elected president unless you
are a friend to Israel.
If you're angry with Her for doing what every
male politician does,
that would seem to be proof you hate her for
being a woman.

One third
of Bush's Vets mentally ill
truthout.org
Excerpt:
Researchers at the University of California,
San Francisco reviewed data collected on 103,788 veterans,
half of whom were National Guard or Reserves.
Nearly a third of war veterans from Afghanistan and Iraq
who were treated by Veterans Affairs (VA) between
2001 and 2005 returned with mental health difficulties.
Of the total, 32,010 (31 percent) had some form
of measurable "mental health problem" when they
broadened the definition to include psychosocial
behavioral problems as well as mental health.
One quarter (25,658 veterans) who returned from
Iraq or Afghanistan to be treated by the VA
in the four year period received at least one
mental health diagnosis.
Of these 25,658 vets, over half were diagnosed
with two or more mental health problems.
I heard Mike Malloy say there are 16 wounded for every dead soldier.
3200 dead soldiers means about 51,000 wounded soldiers.
Let's say they can put 3000 names on each granite panel of the Bloody
Quagmire Monument.
How many panels will the Monument have after all of Bush's victims
are listed?

Subject: Hold em responisble
We hold em all responsible, but those guys aren't
running for president.
The ones who are running, we talk about.
Why does your IQ go from 64 to 04 when the subject

Alto
You're not being honest.
That guy wasn't "talking" about Hillary - he was screaming at her in
a blind rage.
He clearly puts the blame for the war on her shoulders,
even more than Bush's.
Is his foggy mind, Hillary overruled the Joint Chiefs and ordered those
troops to Iraq.
This has nothing to do with proportion of blame - he just hates Hillary's
guts
and anybody with a hardon to hate Hillary gets the front page in today's
climate.
Plus, how does her candidacy in 2007
make her 2002
vote such an outrage?
Question: Of
all the people screaming at Her today,
how many
gave Kerry a pass for his vote in 2004?
Gee, suddenly the room got reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeal quiet.
Let's have a show of hands - who forgave Kerry in 2004 for his Iraq
vote,
but now hates Hillary's f-ing guts for voting exactly
the same way he did?
Explain why Kerry got a pass on the Iraq war vote - but she doesn't.

There was no Monday page because of my "immature

Do you really expect us to believe that an operation
such as yours allows itself to depend on any one single
machine with no backup? You'd have to be a complete
fool to run things the way you expect us to believe you do.
Are you thinking we run a big operation here,
like DailyKos or HuffingtonPost?
I'm just a dude with a modem, a smart mouth and the truth.
Computers are dirt cheap, and hard drives are
much cheaper, and the card and software used to replicate drives
are even cheaper. There is no way I'm going to
believe this "computer in shop" crap, not in a million years!
You're a tough man to please.
I paid the guy extra to come here on a Sunday
and pick up my computer to minimize the time I'd be down,
and you're screaming at me because you can't
believe the "computer in shop crap, not
in a million years?"
One thing you got right - others might be wondering, too, so I'll give
you the details.
My main computer is lightning fast, but it's not fast enough to keep
up with me.
I still spend an hour a day staring at Gates's damn hourglass.
I had a bad hard drive and (for some reason) the modem kept shutting
off.
I planned to do some blogging Monday with my laptop.
But the laptop kept hanging up and it was taking about 40 seconds per
link. That only let me do three stories
on the blog in about 90 minutes, and it takes all day to make a page
on the fast computer, so I punted.
What would you have done?
I have a third computer that I use for the radio
show.
It's not connected to the internet, it has no
browsers, no FTP, no e-mail capability etc.
Just stop the fucking around and do the damned
job you took on for yourself, or you're gonna lose it.
By the way, are you a subscriber? I didn't
see your e-mail address on the subscriber rolls.
Generally when someone barks at me, they either
have a gun or a paycheck for me.
Now tell me the truth about this week, OK? I'll
guess it's a poker game, or some other kind of gambling.
It's a good thing you don't gamble because you'd
be broke now.
You may just have too many personal problems to
continue much longer,
so maybe it's time for an intervention of some
sort!
What I need is an intervention that's Divine -
can you set that up for me?
I just wish you weren't the only know-it-all genius
in the world with a IQ of 64,
you could accept the help you need.
Well, there's no telling what that was supposed to mean.
I'd bet you blame your dog when you fart, don't
you? What a little boy!
Once again, no telling what

Tyme Hosting is owned by Marc
Perkel, who first put Bartcop on the Internet back in 1996 and
keeps Bartcop online today.
Marc hosts several
other political sites including American
Politics Journal, Political
Strikes, Faux
News Channel, Seeds
of Doubt and interesting sites like the
Church
of Reality - a religion based on believing in everything that is
real.
Our motto for
this year is - "No Anti-Bush Site Left Behind".
So - if you have an anti-bush site and you are choking on hosting
fees or dealing with threats - let us know and we'll help keep you online.
We also
have that strongest server side spam filtering on the planet.
