"Bush says that American lives will be sacrificed if Congress does not
change FISA. But he has also said that he will veto any FISA bill that
does not grant retroactive immunity. No immunity, no new FISA bill.
So, he is willing to let Americans die to protect the phone companies."

Excerpt:
Last month, Schumer and Feinstein joined Republicans to ensure Mukasey’s confirmation
as Attorney General, even though he refused to acknowledge that the simulated drowning
of waterboarding was torture.
Harry Reid helped Bush too, by rushing a floor vote on Mukasey before rank-and-file
Democrats could get organized and push for a filibuster.
To show thanks, Mukasey now is slapping Democrats in the face by demanding it back off
any oversight investigations into how and why the CIA in late 2005 destroyed videotapes
of the waterboarding of al-Qaeda suspects.
Mukasey is pressing the House to shelve its investigation into the videotape destruction
and is refusing to turn over information to other congressional committees. He claims that
to do so would interfere with his own investigation of what appears to be criminality that
his Justice Department may have sanctioned.
And, to add insult to the stonewalling, Mukasey justified his refusal to provide information
to Congress by citing his promise during his confirmation hearing that he would “ensure
that politics plays no role in cases brought by the Department of Justice.”
Mukasey is arguing that congressional oversight of possible criminal
wrongdoing by Bush
and other senior officials represents “politics” – and that the only
legitimate investigation
of Bush’s Executive Branch is one carried out by Bush’s Executive Branch.
We need to get rid of Reid, Pelosi, Schumer, Leahy and Feinstein.
I won't be giving the Democrats any money as long as those five are still here.
We have t-shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts, refrigerator magnets and BCR CDs.
If you want to get them by Christmas, today is probably your last chance to order.
If you want a t-shirt or hoodie, black will ship faster than other colors.
We also have a few lapel pins left - would these look good on you? $12 a set
Bart,
I'm in Los Angeles and
AAR makes me insane.
I love GOOD talk radio and all I
have is AAR and NPR.
There is nothing worse then being
stuck in LA traffic at night
and f-ingn AAR goes to some
lousy sports game.
Could you imagine if they did that
to the right-wing Nazis?
The right wouldn't put up with it because they want to win.
You're right, they also suck on the weekends. And the
whole new lineup
I don't particularly care for. What
we need is competition. We need more
progressive radio. I miss having Randi on when I'm in the car (3-7pm).
I don't like Mr. K. He
doesn't talk enough politics. Mostly it's nonsense
in
his head. I really don't appreciate that my main time
used to have Randi
and now it's just dreck.
I really miss Randi, although she doesn't always
get it right either.
I catch more Rachel Maddox on
Olberman.
AAR has some very real problems.
Wish we had another
progressive station.
-E.
E, you can't expect Randi to be on-target every time.

Giuliani never counted on winning in Iowa, New Hampshire or South Carolina
next month. Instead, he’d set his sights on Florida, hoping a decisive win there
on Jan. 29 would set the stage for a big sweep on Feb. 5, when 22 states hold
primaries, including New York and California, where he calculated that his
liberal-Republican affinity with Musclehead would trump his campaign’s
failed attempts at dirty tricks and deliver a win.
But in the wake of a new poll that showed him in third place in Florida,
Giuliani gave a speech in Tampa that pundits say was intended to reset
his campaign that featured this telling formulation:
"I’ve met adversity before (9-11). I’ve led in situations that seemed hopeless (9-11)
and
dire (9-11), in need of a miracle," he said. "I don’t just hope for miracles. I expect miracles."

At least four top White House lawyers took part in discussions with the CIA between 2003
and 2005 about whether to destroy those torture tapes, according to current and former
administration and intelligence officials.
The accounts indicate that the involvement of White House officials in the discussions
before the destruction of the tapes in November 2005 was more extensive than the Bush
bastards have acknowledged.
Those who took part, the officials said, included Tortureboy, David Addington, who was
the counsel to The Dick; NSC lawyer John Bellinger III; and Bush's nany Harriet Miers.
I say we get all those bastards under oath and see who knew that.
Oh, I forgot, the gelding Democrats are in charge - nevermind.

On an Autumn night 300 years ago, Admiral Sir Clowdisley Shovell, hero of the
British Navy, was approached on his quarterdeck by a sailor with a warning.
According to the sailor's calculations, the fleet was headed straight for disaster.
But Sir Clowdisley was a bold leader unburdened by doubt. He was dead certain
he was headed in the right direction.
"Such subversive navigation by an inferior was forbidden in the Royal Navy,"
according to Dava Sobel in her brilliant book "Longitude," and so "Admiral
Shovell had the man hanged for mutiny on the spot."
The 57-year-old Sir Clowdisley stayed the course, oblivious in his ignorance
and upright in his optimism, until, one by one, his ships wrecked in the Scilly
Isles with great loss of life, including his own.
Sir Clowdisley kept coming to mind as I was reading Robert Draper's "Dead Certain,
the presidency of George W. Bush." Dissenters were not hanged in the Bush White
House, but their exclusion from the quarterdeck was the bureaucratic equivalent of the
long drop. At least Admiral Shovell had a man in uniform willing to bring him bad news.
In the Bush White House, no one said: "Let's slow down and rethink this," Draper writes.
Why bother to re-think anything when you're getting your orders from God?
"This is the most significant photo taken in the year 2007. Think it will

Hey Bart, that Ron Paul is a kook.
And all of Ron Paul's supporters are kooks.
They believe in:
Getting out of Iraq.
Getting out of Afghanistan.
Never getting into Iran
The Constitution.
Gun freedom.
Smaller government.
Lower taxes.
Balanced budget.
Checks and balances.
Privacy.
Unrestricted, unregulated internet.
And a lot of other 'kooky' ideas.
Maybe America needs more kooks.

After the last e-mail you sent me, asking me to explain the film showing that
NBC broadcast phony videos of the second strike on 9-11, my e-mails to you
were bounced back by Perkel’s outfit. The message was that I was “blacklisted”
by “hostkarma.junkemailfilter.com”
I corresponded with Perkel and he got it fixed so that I am no longer blacklisted.
He informs me that my reverse DNS is bad and needs to be fixed. It’s funny that
it was working fine until I sent you that link for that 9-11 video and then suddenly
my reverse DNS is bad my correspondence is getting rejected by Bartcop as junkmail.
A similar thing happened a few months ago after I emailed Jim Fetzer at Scholars for 911 Truth with a link to proof of video fakery. He replied, asking for more info.
When I tried to send him the additional info., my e-mails were bounced back as
rejected by his server.
Then there was the time my whole computer got infected and froze up
because I added the “nomoregames.com” website to my favorites list.
If they can monitor and censor e-mails this way,
what can’t they do to control the flow of information?

Bart, a few other facts about Hurricanes Katrina/Rita that you may not be aware of:
After Katrina, while New Orleans was drowning, the local news in Lafayette, LA
(about 120 miles west of New Orleans) called for volunteers with boats to gather at
a spot in town for a caravan to New Orleans via I-10 to assist in the rescue effort.
Numerous volunteers arrived, but when they got within a few miles of New Orleans,
there were government bureaucrats checking their boat registrations along with every
other imagineable bureaucratic nonsense regarding water vehicles, and then the vast
majority of the civilian volunteer would-be rescuers were not allowed to enter New Orleans.
Hurricane Rita (a.k.a. "The Forgotten Hurricane") hit Louisiana/East Texas further west,
just a month after Katrina. Rita is probably forgotten because even though the storm surge
flooded a heuuuuge area, nobody died.
Want to know why nobody in Louisiana died in the aftermath of Rita?
It was because while the Nat. Guard personnel were waiting around for the OK
to go out there and rescue folks who were stranded, the heroic Cajun Armada did not
wait for any OK from government. They took it upon themselves, while the storm winds
were still blowing, to get out there and rescue everyone who might be stranded.

Excerpt:
The reason a special prosecutor is needed in the torture tapes obstruction of justice case,
and the reason there is private panic in many Democratic and Republican circles, is that
it now appears that some prominent Democrats, along with some prominent Republicans,
gave a private thumbs-up to torture in 2002.
Waterboarding is torture. Torture is a crime.
Looking at the various creative means of torture that have been publicly reported,
the laws that were broken include the Geneva Convention, European law, the U.S.
War Crimes Act, the domestic laws of probably a dozen countries at least, especially
in Europe, and very possibly the Nuremberg rules.
Flashing back to 2001 and 2002, when torture was instituted and some Democrats
and Republicans were briefed: That was the time when most senior Democrats joined
Republicans in supporting the Iraq war and voting for the Patriot Act (including the
majority in the Congress who did not read the Patriot Act before voting for it).
My bet is that the president will ultimately issue a mass pardon, including himself
and Cheney, which he can do for crimes other than impeachment.
My bet is that we will learn that Bush & Cheney both knew about the destruction
of the torture tapes.
My bet is that at least some senior Democrats, and close to all senior Republicans
who were briefed, gave their approval or assent to torture in classified briefings.
They say Pelosi and others were briefed on this,
but weren't they bound by law to keep this secret a secret?
Bart,
I may not agree with everything you say
but you have given me so many laughs
