"Reagan changed the trajectory
of America in a way that Nixon
did not and Clinton did not.
He put us on a fundamentally
different path, because the
country was ready for it."
-- Obama, praising Reagan, Link
"You don't like people from outside the state coming in and telling you
what to do with your flag. In fact, if somebody came to Arkansas and
told us what to do with our flag, we'd tell them what to do with the pole, that's what we'd do." -- Huckabee, telling South Carolina that he's proud of the GOP Racist Flag, Link
Huckabee wants to put a flagpole
up the ass of everyone who's less racist than he is?
And since Huckabee speaks for God, he should explain
why God
hates the dark people he created.
Excerpt:
In December and early January – Hillary’s panicked supporters played nearly every card
in their political deck to salvage the dream of putting a second Clinton in the White House.
It's called, "fighting back," and it's something all Democrats should try at least once.
Sen. Clinton and her feminist backers appealed to women to get behind one of their own;
Just to be clear - it's wrong when women do it but it's perfectly fine when Blacks do it.
Clinton operatives insinuated that Obama’s youthful drug use would make him unelectable;
They stated a fact: Use of illegal drugs can haunt a politician and Obama has
admitted to
cocaine use 'back in the day,' something no other presidential candidate has ever done.
and Bill pulled a page from Karl Rove’s playbook in attacking Obama
on a perceived strength, his early opposition to the Iraq War.
A. How many times are you going to make that same charge?
B. When did it become "Rovian" to fight back?
C. Is Robert Parry going to give us his Nancy Grace Guarantee that Obama's
"early opposition" to Bush's war was consistent, vigorous and constant?
Central to this Clinton comeback was a readiness to do whatever was necessary,
from seeking sympathy to sliming an opponent.
There you go again - reading Hillary's mind and then tattling on her inner-most thoughts.
If you had gone to Vegas the first time you claimed you could read minds,
you would
be a
millionaire by now, yet that trip remains unrealized and I have to wonder why.
How dare you make a wild assumption and then elevate that wild assumption to a fact.
You didn't even frame it as a question, or, as writers like Conason or Lyons might put it, "Her political opponents questioned if her show of emotion was sincere."
No, you go waaaaaaay farther than that with your unsubstantiated and gratuitous assertion
that she was "seeking sympathy" when she got choked up and that's the kind of horseshit
that would've been beneath the old Robert Parry, the one that stuck to the facts.
This can't be the same Robert Parry I've been reading for years and years.
I've seen you
give
those traitorus Bush bastards the benefit of the doubt,
but lately, your readers have
gotten nothing from you but FOX News-style "journalism" and that's really sad.
Is there anybody who can get to Bob and give him a hug or a wake-up slap or something?
Do we have to watch this once-great writer spiral down lower and lower into the sewer?
And to make things worse, it's a right-wing sewer.
Bob - what happened?
Can we last until Feb 5th?
Or will your Hillary jihad never have an end?
"He's a rock star without a hit." -- radio show caller about Obama, Link
Have you kids ever seen an old game show called, "Let's Make a Deal?"
Obama reminds me of that show.
America has a choice between the team that beat the Fascist dogs twice, OR
they can have what's behind Door Number Two.
If you remember this show, sometimes the surprise behind the door was a new car
but sometimes there'd be a goat or maybe a pile of bricks or 20 gallons of milk.
Obama certainly may turn out to be the brand new car we hope he'll be,
but what if he turns out to be a goat?
Are we a nation of high stakes gamblers?
Are we willing to bet our future on what's behind Door Number Two?
Monte Hall says: "C'mon, gamble a little bit!
How bad could four more years of Republican rule be?"
Excerpt:
I wake up hung-over to photos of the King of Saudi Arabia festooning our President
with gold necklaces, that I reluctantly remember that I am an economist; and one with
some responsibility to explain what the hell Bush is doing kissing Abdullah’s camel.
What’s really behind Bush’s hajj to Riyadh is that America is in hock up to our knickers.
The sub-prime mortgage market implosion, hitting a dozen banks with over $100 billion
in losses, is just the tip of the debt-berg.
Since taking office, Bush has doubled the federal debt to more than $5 trillion. And,
according
to US Treasury figures, on net, foreign investors have purchased close to
100% of that debt.
That’s $3 trillion borrowed from the Saudis, the Chinese, the Japanese and others.
Bush borrowed that money to give to the super-rich and the oil companies.
Now he's getting ready to give another HUGE tax-cut to the super-rich and
the oil companies "to stimulate the economy."
Butt George, we got in this mess because YOU gave the super-rich and the oil companies
a HUGE tax-cut and instead of hiring people they raised prices.

Excerpt: "No matter how tough I got, how direct, how provocative, how purposefully provocative,"
Matthews lied, "people out there watching would know I was not out against them, that it
was them I was rooting for." Except if they were Hillary Clinton supporters.
But despite his best efforts to make his pure intentions clear, Matthews continued,
"Some people I respect, politically concerned people like you who watch the show,
people like me who care about this country, think I've been disrespectful to Hillary.
Not as a candidate, but as a woman."
Actually, that's not it at all. The complaint has been that Matthews has been
disrespectful to her as a candidate because she's a woman.
"Reagan believed in something. How much we need that today. He showed what
can be done if you have the will to push for tough choices and the
ability to ask the people to accept them." -- Fraud Thompson, agreeing with Obama, Link
Bart,
It seems as if any time any Dem challenger or one of their supporters has something
negative to say regarding Obama the press and thin skinned lefties jump up and scream,
which seemingly always results in an apology or truce of some kind.
Do these people understand what's going to to happen should Obama win the nomination
and run against the Rethuglican machine? You can bet Aunt Martha's chest pads the kind
of mud that will be thrown won't be followed by white flags and contrition.
It is the opinion here that the GOP AND their partners in slime (the right-owned press)
want nothing more than to run against a first term liberal black U.S. Senator.
Don't get me wrong....if he gets the nomination he gets my vote no matter what
(Borat would too, for that matter), but I wonder how many moderate Democrats
can look into themselves and say that same thing.
Moderate Republicans won't be able to cast a vote for Obama. If voters were that
intelligent,
ol' shit-for brains Bush would never have gotten a second term.
Keep swingin' that hammer,
Jimmy Bo
Jimmy, I don't get it either.
But the good news is that it should be over in 3 weeks.
If the left defeats Hillary and Obama loses to the GOP Slime Machine
we'll always have 2012 or 2016 to try again.
OK, I'll try again, if only to show a lot of Obama supporters still read your site.
Thank you.
I've been nice to Obama.
I want the candidate who is most against the US invasion and occupation of Iraq.
If we compare just Hillary and Obama, I'm pretty sure Obama is more opposed to
this war than Clinton. We might argue how big the difference is, but it is not zero,
and that's significant enough for me.
But what if the guy who says he's against the war has never been in a big fight?
Gore and Kerry had a lifetime in politics, but fell victim to the GOP Slime Machine.
Here is the passage I want to comment on specifically:
> > He [Obama] keeps saying he's the anti-war candidate. Again, all he did was make a speech.
At least he's saying it.
But it's OK that he did nothing?
Why didn't he threaten to filibuster like every Republican in the senate?
> > She actually had to vote. I'm as anti-war as they come, but I understand why she
> > voted the way she did -- because she works in [a] real world body where your actions
> > have real world consequences .... If I were in her position and my vote actually affected national
> > security, even though I oppose war in any form, I might have done the same thing
> > she did, hoping that I was supporting the greater good. That's what grown ups do.
The writer seems to be saying that it is fine to have principles (like opposing war)
but when
it really
matters, one should not feel obligated to actually put those principles into action.
Ridiculous. That
is way too far to go to defend Hillary's vote in favor of Bush's war.
Paul
How will Obama reply when they GOP Slime machine runs ads that say, "Hussein
Obama wasn't even willing to defend America when we were attacked."
They can't say that about Hillary which might one reason why she voted that way.
They don't need Willie Horton this time because they'll make Obama their Willie Horton.
We're betting the future of the world that the voter is smart enough to know better.
That scares me.
P.S.
Did you figure out that you can "continue" to Obama's web site without signing in?
A lot of people wrote - half said, "You are so goddamn f-ing stupid - the link is as f-ing plain as it can f-ing be," and the other half said, "I couldn't find it, either - how do you get in?"
Someone else said they changed it so maybe we helped them out.
Excerpt: "Conservatives hate Hillary for who she is. They hate Edwards for what he says.
And they can live with Obama, who could finish off the Clintons, who eschews
edgy populism for "hope" and who this week praised Ronald Reagan.
"When you think about what Reagan did to the middle class to the working people,"
said John Edwards. "He was openly -- openly-- intolerant of unions and the right to
organize. He openly fought against the union and the organized labor movement...
He did extraordinary damage to the middle class and working people, created a tax
structure that favored the very wealthiest Americans and caused working people to
struggle every single day. The destruction of the environment, eliminating regulation
of companies that were polluting and doing extraordinary damage to the environment."
"I can promise you this," Edwards said,
"I will never use Ronald Reagan as an example for change."
Clinton got trashed.
Obama got the endorsement.
But this round goes to Edwards.
What's all this palaver about Obama's voting for or against the 'war'?
He wasn't even elected to the Senate until November of 2004.
Clifford
Well, we can't blame a guy for his birthdate, but I agree.
He wasn't in national politics at the time, but he does say "change"
a lot and today's voters want to hear that word over and over.
You made me look up "palaver."
It means "idle talk."
Excerpt:
But the real shot hit the fan when Mark Levin reminded his audience that O'Reilly
was
involved in a porn scandal where he was taped sexually harassing a young
subordinate,
one in which Bill had to pay millions to make it go away. Levin said that if Bill didn't
stop taking on the mantel of talk radio's ombudsman, he would "do an hour on the porn"
during his own show.
Yikes.
It's about time someone put some light on the crimes of these talk radio bastards.
Of course, the networks and newspapers won't touch it because they have their
own skulls and bones hidden, so why can't some lefty expose them?
When they counted the Diebold votes in one district, here’s what they found.
Diebold
Result Hand
Count
CLINTON 683 619
EDWARDS 255 217
OBAMA 404 365
They all lost votes, and like I told y’all, Hillary’s % will likely go up
if they
count them one by one. This block shows that Obama and Clinton’s
votes
go down by 10%, so it is doubtful that the hand count would change anything. She won.
However, Kucinich is correct to question where those votes came from
and/or who did they go to? Diebold machines are evil 666 beasts and need to be eliminated.
Sheryl
I heard that Diebold changed their name to gain credibility.
Why are we still using machines that can be hacked?
Excerpt:
Polls reveal her strongest supporters are working-class and black women.
This is partly
because of her policies on health, child care and increasing taxes
on the rich, according
to a report in The Boston Globe, and partly for emotional reasons.
Poorer women see in Clinton an experienced warrior, able to withstand both the old
boys club and a philandering husband. The former makes her formidable — the latter
makes her one of the girls.
But when it comes to college-educated liberals, the "go-girl" cheer starts to fade.
Clinton's policies count for little with these women: after all, if you are not a low-income
earner then a plan to establish a fund to cushion the impact of higher energy costs on
low-income earners can seem rather uninspiring. So the focus rests on Clinton as pop icon.
She is no longer a political candidate, but a symbol to be probed and dissected.
Wow - it sounds like the writer thinks there's some GOP in all of us.
If you're poor, you like Hillary because she wants to help those with nothing.
But if you're making good money, the situation isn't so dire so the
attitude
becomes, "Fuck 'em - I got mine, they can get theirs."
Is that what Gene Lyons meant when he said the "cool kids" hated her?
Excerpt:
The NFL's final four have an extra opponent when they take the field Sunday:
The game forecast high in Green Bay is 4 degrees, and 21 degrees in Patriotville.
Did you watch that Green Bay game last Sunday?
The third quarter was about as fun as football gets in the snow.
In two weeks, can Favre's Packers play better than pretty boy's Patriots?
BTW, what happened to the Cowboys?
Oh, that's right - they lost.
