US Airstrike
kills 4 in Baghdad
U.S. warplanes also bomb Basra as clashes
continue
Link
Excerpt:
A U.S. helicopter fired a Hellfire missile during
fighting in Baghdad Friday, killing at least
four people as deadly clashes broke out in Iraq's
oil-rich south for the fourth day.
American jets also dropped bombs overnight in
Basra in the first use of U.S. air power
since the Iraqi government launched a crackdown
against Shiite militias there earlier this week.
Extremists also lobbed more rockets or mortars
against the U.S.-protected Green Zone.
At least two rounds struck the nearby offices
of Sunni Vice President Tariq al-Hashemi,
killing two guards and wounding four, his daughter
Lubna said.
Thick black smoke rose into the sky in the latest
of a week of attacks that have prompted
the U.S. State Department to order all personnel
at the embassy to stay in reinforced structures.
Yep, things are going great over there, just like McCain
said.
And remember what President Shit-for-brains said recently?
"They can't argue with the success of the war
anymore,
so they complain about the costs of
this war."
Yeah, we do.

Subject: Re Obama's Problem with
White Voters
Hi Bart,
If the Reagan Democrats haven't learned, after
8 years of Bush, that playing footsie with the GOP
can be highly hazardous to both their economic
and physical health, then I'm all for their having
whatever additional amount of time it takes for
their continued learning.
It took the Great Depression to wizen up their
forefathers -- whites and blacks alike learned the
hard way that for their own good, they had better
bury their differences long enough to vote
Democratic on Election Day, or they would both
suffer at the hands of the Republicans who
hated poor and middle class people regardless
of skin color.

The Beginnings
of a Truce?
Hillary and Obama cool the rhetoric
Link
Excerpt:
At a rally Thursday, Clinton was asked what she
would say to Democrats so invested in her candidacy
or Obama's that they would consider voting for
McCain
if their preferred candidate isn't the nominee.
"Please think through this decision. It is
not a wise decision," Clinton said to applause.
"Every time we have a vigorous contest like we're
having this primary election, people get intense.
Senator Obama has intense support. I have intense
support. It's exciting because people want to
be involved. But, the differences pale in comparison
to the differences between us and McCain."
Obama made a similar point Thursday in an interview
on ABC's "Whore News."
"There are going to be some bruised feelings,
whoever the nominee is. We are going to have to
come together and remind ourselves that there
is a heck of a lot bigger difference between either
Senator Clinton or myself, and John McCain,"
Obama said.

"At the beginning of their delightful presidential
campaign, a charmless New York Times
reporter asked me whether conservatives would
be as critical of Hillary as they were of Bill
when he was the Boy President. The assumption
was that somehow the Clintons were ingenues,
utterly undeserving of the criticism leveled
at them in the 1990s. I told him that the Clintons
would attract unwanted notice again 'because
they get in trouble.' They skirt the law. They defy
ethical standards. Most brazenly, they lie
when there is no reason to lie, and they deploy a
whopper when a little white lie would be perfectly
adequate and even understandable."

But, hey, what is the deal with all of these
self-righteous Dems saying that Hillary should quit?
For the good of the party?
If I were running for president (no thanks) I
would fight to the bitter end, but I guess we know
the Dems don't want a fighter; they want a make-nice
person who will get sliced and diced and
pureed for good measure rather than have a true
fighter in the White House.
I think her ability to fight demonstrates better
than just about anything else that she IS the right
person for the job. Politics is a dirty business,
and she can't change that by being nice and losing.
I hope she rocks on til the very last second...and
thanks for being the one voice of reason in

Telling

Excerpt:
A salute is due Adm. William Fallon, who tried
to prevent a wider war with Iran.
After serving one year as commander of U.S. Central
Command, Fallon has resigned,
saying he was quitting because his differences
with official U.S. policy had become a "distraction."
But there is a widespread perception that he was
pushed out by the neo-conservatives among
President Bush's aides, especially Vice President
Dick Cheney, because of Fallon's reluctance
to go along with the administration's hawkish
moves toward Iran.
Cheney, who took five consecutive draft deferments
to stay out of the Vietnam War, does not mind
keeping the U.S. in the Iraqi quagmire he helped
create. The same goes for Sen. John McCain,
who said that leaving Iraq is not a U.S. option.

Here's what I suspect, and it's not good.
It's been awhile since I saw the movie Network,

that was probably truth, not fiction. The newscaster
that implored his audience to lean out

The Hillary
Deathwatch
Link
Excerpt:
Hillary Clinton is as good as dead. This became
the consensus over the past week, when the media
awoke en masse to the dual reality that 1) Clinton
can't close the pledged-delegate gap and
2) Obama has her beat in the popular vote. But
the Clinton campaign shows no signs of slowing
- she said herself she's prepared to compete
for at least three more months. So the question now
is not just "How dead is she?" but 'When will
she realize it?'"
Are you sitting down?
How many times have you heard some TV talking head yakking about "following
the rules?"
Does anyone know what the rules are for the pledged delegates?
According to Whore Newsweek, (March 24, Page 12):
After the 1980 battle between Carter and Ted
Kennedy, Democrats changed
the rule that required pledged delegates to
stick wuth their candidate,
no matter what. The current rule, adopted in
1982, says that pledged
delegates "shall in all good conscience
reflect the sentiments of those
who elected them."
So, that's as clearly wtitten as the Second Amendment, but it apparently
gives delegates the freedom
to vote for whoever they want - say, if one person is "more electable"
than the other - and that's
why she still has a chance to win.
Obama is closer, but neither candidate can get to the magic number needed,
so, like a boxing match, the judges will decide who is our nominee.
Of course, the Obama camp objects to all of this, because they want
to win just like she does,
but how can anybody argue with in all good
conscience? If the delegates didn't have the
freedom to choose, the rule would read, "the delegates will
vote as directed by voters."

Percent
of Dems say they'll Vote McCain
Link
Excerpt:
A sizable proportion of Democrats would vote
for McCain next November if he is matched
against the candidate they do not support for
the Democratic nomination. This is particularly
true for Hillary supporters, more than a quarter
of whom currently say they would vote for
McCain if Obama is the Democratic nominee.
They think this is real cute, but don't believe a word of it.
That question is, basically, "Are you angry
about the Dem Civil war?"
Yes, tempers are really hot right now, but November is 7 months away.
90 days ago, Hillary and Rudy were "shoe-ins" as their party nominees,
so think about how much will change in more-than-double that amount
of time.

Soldier's
tortuous death blamed on DU
Link
Excerpt:
"I want you to know that I'm proud of my son
and proud of the job that he did in the military,"
said Lori Brim, mother of Dustin, a young man
who got sick while in service in Iraq at the age of 22.
He died a terrible death from aggressive cancer
of the esophagus that took over his body in record time.
Eleven times in one short month, Dustin went to
the doctors faint, unable to eat,
suffering from night sweats and intense pain.
Ten times they told him to "tough it out."
The eleventh time, his sergeant was with him when
he collapsed. The sergeant took him to the hospital.
Six months later he was dead.
When Lori saw him floundering after high school,
she persuaded him to join the military.
She thought the discipline might be good for
him.
The recruiter assured her that he would not
be sent to Iraq because he was her only child.
Reminder:
It's legal for the recruiter to lie to get you
to enlist.
He can promise you anything, and he doesn't
have to deliver.

Watching Bush in operation these last couple
of weeks is like having an out-of-body experience.
On acid. During a nightmare. In a different galaxy.
You cannot but stop and gaze in stark comedic
awe, realizing that the most powerful polity that
ever existed twice picked this imbecilic buffoon
as its leader, from among 300 million other choices.
Seeing him clown with the Washington press corps
yet once again -- and seeing them fawn over him,
laugh in all the right places, and give him a
standing ovation, also yet once again -- is the equivalent of
having all your logic circuits blown simultaneously.
Every sort of scam is employed to steal power,
and then pure corruption and intimidation used to keep it.
And then the media stand by silently watching
for eight years as the tragedy unfolds before their eyes.
I think he has it about right. The whore press, constantly fawning
