Russia:
Georgia move was 'like 9/11'
Link
Excerpt:
Seeking to justify Moscow's overwhelming response
to Georgia's attempt to reassert itself over the
breakway province, Mr Ivanov said that Russia
had no choice but to take military action, just as the US
felt bound to respond after the 9-11 attacks
''We just reacted because we didn't have any other option.
Any civilised country would act same way. I may
remind you - 9-11, the reaction was similar."
Do you get the feeling that whenever a crisis
comes up, Bush and Cheney
look for whichever option gives America the best
chance to go to war?
And since Bush did what he did - any time some rogue nation wants to
fuck up,
they'll just say, "We did just what you did,
Monkeyboy, so shuddup, already."
This is another reason why the voters need to send these Bush
bastards home.

Subject: Del Castillo Live
Bart - Del Castillo is playing here in Santa Barbara
at the historic old small theater, the Lobero Theater
(390 perfect seats), on Sept. 20 as part of the
"Sings Like Hell" concert series. I already had plans to
see the Black Crowes on Fri Sept. 19 at a WPA/CCC
era outdoor granite bowl, the Santa Barbara Bowl,
and Derek Trucks Band on Sun. night Sept. 21
at the Lobero.
That is a lot of world class ass kicking guitar
for one weekend for one weary boomer.
What do you think? Should I try to fit
in the Del Castillo show, too?
Your friend,

Mike, trust me.
Whatever it takes, if you like great guitar players, go see Del Castillo.

How we Can

Keep writing
speeches for Obama like the one
he gave
to the American Israeli lobbying group.
Here's what he said: "The danger from Iran is
grave, it is real, and my goal will be to eliminate this threat."
And: "Let there be no doubt: I will always keep
the threat of military action on the table to defend our
security and our ally Israel. Sometimes there
are no alternatives to confrontation."
Forget that
this was a historic year for women.
Obama should be making a speech about gender

Millions of people, especially women, had high
hopes for the candidacy of Hillary Clinton.
Attention must be paid. And let Michelle

Paying the
Piper
Monkey diplomacy is expensive
Link
Excerpt:
Well, it has finally happened. The crisis born
of unilateralism, strategic overreach and bravado
has come to pass. With U.S. forces tied down
in two protracted wars, American credibility
at a record low and our dependence on foreign
oil painfully obvious, a revitalized Russia is
on the move. And the blow has fallen where most
analysts expected it would: on America's
closest ally in the Caucasus, the tiny Republic
of Georgia.
Conciliation, not confrontation, should have guided
American foreign policy in Eastern Europe
during the past decade. Instead, Washington
continued to poke the Russian bear with a stick.
If the U.S. could act unilaterally to invade
a sovereign state, why couldn't Russia?

Subject: McCain's Foreign
Policy Adviser on Georgia's Payroll
McCain, posing as if he were the president, declared
"We are all Georgians now", and practically
declared war on Russia. But it turns out that
McCain's foreign policy adviser, Randy Scheunemann, is a lobbyist.
His firm, Orion Strategies, an active supporter
of advocacy groups supporting the Iraq war, has received
$800,000 from the government of Georgia.
It appears McCain thinks this crisis is in his
political favor as he marches out on stage to the music
from the movie "Rocky" in a war he might have
had a hand in creating, if it turns out the Georgian
president thought he had the backing of the United
States because of the money he was funneling to
McCain's campaign staff. Georgia's president
Mikhail Saakashvili twice mentioned McCain by name
as if he expected McCain to send armies go to
war with Russia on his behalf.
Has McCain started his first war already?
No matter how you look at it or what might have
happened the very idea that McCain's foreign policy
adviser is being paid hundreds of thousands of
dollars by a former Soviet block government just isn't acceptable.
After the Bush administration lying us into the
war in Iraq we can't have another president who is in the pocket
of a foreign government. Randy Scheunemann must
go!
And McCain has some 'splainin' to do.

Subject: conspiracy theory
I have a theory. Actually, a conspiracy theory.
It's regarding those electronic voting machines we have
been screaming about since 2000. The reason the
Democrats have done jack shit about these rigged
elections is because they were probably promised
a rigged election in their favor come 2008.
I think Obama is in Hawaii eating poi because
he believes them when they say,
"This one belongs to you, man. We got it rigged,
you're sure to win."
I think somebody probably told Kerry the same
thing - "Go windsurfing, this one's in the bag, brother."
No doubt McCain has been told this, as he pretty
much said it when he said he'd be behind until
just before the last poll closes in Pennsylvania.
This election is going to be decided by the people
who write the code.
Our democracy might as well be a powerball lottery.
Those are rigged, too.

Still Hating
Hillary
by Maureen the lying cow
Link
Excerpt:
You can almost hear her mind whirring: She's
amazed at how easy it was to snatch Denver away
from the Obama saps. Like taking candy from a
baby, except Beanpole Guy doesn't eat candy.
In just a couple of weeks, Bill and Hill were
able to drag No Drama Obama into a swamp of Clinton drama.
Start with absolute shit writing, add a bushel
of hate and a few buckets of claims that you can
read minds and you get the essence of Maureen
Dowd. She says, "You can almost hear
her mind whirring,"
but she had to use "almost" because nobody but Dowd can hear it.
She also called Obama "Beanpole
guy" and the Obama people "saps,"
but she wants you to think Hillary called
them that, not Maureen Dowd.
She also hopes you get off on shit writing:
"No Drama Obama into a swamp of Clinton drama.
God - I hate cute.
If she writing for Mrs Wilson's third grade class?
Is she writing for people who read the Family
Circle cartoons?
Hillary feels no guilt about encouraging
her supporters to mess up Obama's big moment,
You got that?
Being able to read Hillary's mind, Dowd knows
Hillary feels no guilt about destroying Obama.
She's not only guilty of a future crime, she's
laughing at all you non-mind-reading idiots.
She's laughing at you.
Are you going to let her get away with that?
THIS is the kind of hate that could send an unbalanced
mind into Hillary's office with a gun.
Hillary is guilty of "future Denver crimes," and
we all know it, because Dowd reads minds.
She heard Hillary thinking about "these crimes"
- so she needs to be stopped.
Dowd hates everybody, but she hates Hillary first and most.

Subject: Plame lawsuit
Bart,
From: http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20080812/pl_nm/usa_cheney_plame_dc_2
:
The court ruled Cheney and the others were acting
within their official capacity
when they revealed Plame's identity to reporters.
"Government employees who engage in questionable
acts, such as abusing prisoners
at the Guantanamo Bay facility or engaging
in defamatory speech, cannot be held
individually liable if they are carrying
out official duties, the court said."
So regardless of whether it's abusing prisoners
at Guantanamo or disclosing Valerie Plame's
status with the CIA, no one is liable because
they were just carrying out their official duties.
I'll bet the Nazis on trial at Nuremberg wished
they had access to the Court of Appeals in Washington.

Subject: Some people say I don't
print enough Obama-will-win e-mails.
You're too much Bart.
You promised to be 100% behind the Democratic
nominee whoever it turned out to be
but your Hillary googols got you sniping and
sniding Obama every chance you get.
Your 8-8-08 page had 16 articles either written
or cited by you that were negative about Obama
and only one, written by a Republican Governor
that had anything positive to say about him.
Even the article on the Obama "Sign of Progress"
was snipped as an "international symbol for a handjob."
You mean to be a good Democrat I have to say I
like this?
When did "Conform to the masses" become our motto?
Obama's leading in the polls and it's going to
be a close one. Just like the last 5 elections.
About half of our country are idiots. Clinton
needed Perot to win and Bush needed Nader
(and the Supreme Court) the first time and Diebold
the second because the races were close.
I haven't seen any research or polls showing that
Hillary would be any further ahead of McCain than
Obama is at this point had she won the nomination.
In fact Hillary lost among Democrats, and in a
general election would do poorly with Republicans
(Women, Liberal) as will Obama (Black, Liberal).
I'm not saying she couldn't win (I know she could)
but it would take the 100% support of
the Obama backers to achieve that, just like
what Obama needs from you to win.
Gary
A long time reader, fan and supporter of BARTCOP
Gary, I'm not sure what you sent qualifies as a "Why Obama will win"
e-mail.
Have you considered that I'm running "What's wrong with Obama?" stories
because everyone is asking that question - and I'd like it answered,
too?
Obama has been hard to recognize since he got the nomination. He's changing
positions
on major issues faster than any politician I've ever seen so
I felt the urge to comment.
For a while there, every time he opened his mouth he lost supporters
so I advised him to take a vacation - I thought I was being helpful.
Now he's fallen to about even with McCain, and McCain is stepping up
the personal attacks,
so when it's time to answer McCain's lies, he finally takes that vacation.
It's like he's reading
bartcop.com and doing the opposite of what I suggest,
which can be a little scary.
Some people want to read, "Obama's the greatest and he can't lose,"
every day.
I'm so old, I can remember a time when I was allowed to speak freely.
In 2008, I've had to watch what I say and I'm having trouble adjusting
to the new rules.

Subject: Why Obama will win
The last two presidential elections show that
America is clearly 50% Democratic.
In 2000, Gore had the popular vote at 50 plus.
In 2004, Kerry lost with 50 minus.
Current polls show Bush with a 20% approval. That
leaves 30% to be decided.
For Obama to win, he needs only 1% of that thirty.
For McCain to win, he needs all 30% and 1% of
Obama's chips.
There's no legal way that's going to happen.!
