"We cannot spend the next four years as we
have spent much of the last eight: waiting for our luck to change.
The hour is late; our troubles are getting worse; our enemies watch. We have to act immediately.
We have to change direction now."
-- McCain, who just now figured out we've been suffering under the Worst
President Ever , Link
John, it only took you seven years and eleven months to figure
that out?
We can't use another slow-thinker driving the bus.
Excerpt: Wall Street stormed back from last week's devastating
losses Monday, sending the Dow soaring
a nearly inconceivable 936 points after major
governments' plans to support the global banking
system reassured distraught investors. All the
major indexes rose more than 11 percent.
Big whoop.
The Dow fell from 14,100 to under 8,000
Friday, now it's back to 9380. Sure, that's good news, but we have another 80%
to go before we break even.
The market was likely to rebound after eight days
of precipitous losses that took the Dow down
nearly 2,400 points, but no one expected this
kind of advance, which saw the Dow by far outstrip
its previous record for a one-day point gain,
499.19, set during the fantastic Clinton era.
"We have 22 days to go. We're 6 points down.
(Actually, it's 12) My friends, we've got them just
where we want them." -- McCain, sounding
like he's caught Limbaugh's syphilitic fever,
Link
Is Republican male-to-male syphilis contagion rare? Or
does it happen all the time?
"It happens
more
often than you'd think..."
John, I'm sure Obama will save a presidential inauguration seat
for you and
whichever beer-heiress wife you're on come January 20th.
At NaziCon 2008, she clearly said "nuclear"
several times.
After a month of coaching, she started
saying "nukular."
They are trying to make her more appealing
to stupid people. I wonder why Alaskan Democrats didn't mention
this change??
In most years this would work, but the multi-trillion
dollar economic meltdown
has changed the plans beyond what the GOP
can handle, so they're going to lose.
But...the Democrats have still not
learned this lesson.
They keep trying to win with Harvard debate-speak,
which nobody likes
or understands unless you went to Harvard
and became a star of their debate team.
Clinton, Gore, Kerry and Obama - all four
are generally the smartest guy in the room.
But only Clinton could connect with the
yokels, with basketball talk, playing the sax, etc.
Only Clinton could pull that stick out
of his ass and act like a normal guy.
Why can't Democrats learn? Monkeys can mimic, Democrats can't.
It is still odd for me to grasp why there is so
much ill will between the two states.
My first roomate at Stanford was from Abilene
and his favorite joke was,
"Why doesn't Texas fall into the Gulf of Mexico?
Because Oklahoma sucks!" Doc Chuck
Doc, the Okie answer to that is:
If it wasn't for Okie cowboys and Mexican "Boys Towns" there wouldn't
be any Texans.
"A week ago, a McCain campaign official said,
'We're going to start aiming at Obama's character, because if we have to talk about the
economy we're going to lose.' And the economy does hang from their neck like the anchor from
the Lusitania." -- David Axelrod,
Obama's chief architect, Link
Note: The RMS Lusitania
was a big ship, considered by historians to be the second
most famous civilian passenger liner disaster after the sinking of
Titanic.
Excerpt: I just got back from a very cold, very wet, very
windy, but VERY enthusiastic anti-Palin rally.
Unlike last weekend, there were plenty of rolling
news cameras, microphones, and reporters with
little weather-proof notebooks so maybe we'll
get some press!
The crowd gathered in front of the Capitol steps,
which is right downtown, around the corner from
the unoccupied Governor's Mansion. State employees
were encouraged to come in disguise due to
fear of reprisals by the Palin administration,
a chilling thought. Speakers included fishermen, two
pediatricians (including one former head of Alaska
Public Health), a former state Game Board rep,
college student for gay/lesbian rights who's
about to vote for the first time, two Alaska Native veterans,
and someone who read an encouraging letter from
Juneau state representative Beth Kertulla.
Excerpt: Limbaugh called Mitchell a "racist nutball."
Below is a portion of Mary Mitchell's actual
response to Limbaugh:
When you step on a pig's tail, it squeals.
Rush Limbaugh is a squealer. And why is he squealing?
Because John McCain and Sarah Palin are losing
ground in a contest that they thought was theirs. And they
are losing it to a black man.
Limbaugh is squealing like the pig he is, is
because he's the epitome of white privilege. He can't wrap his mind around the fact that
Obama is kicking McCain's butt in the polls.
"If Sarah Palin wins, I'm done. I can't
do that (impression) for four years. And by 'I'm done,' I mean I'm leaving
Earth." -- Tina
Fey, asked about The She-Bush,
Link
Excerpt: In the area of women's issues, Palin follows
McCain's lead. Though McCain has convinced many political
dilettantes that he is independent-minded due
to his rhetorical fake to the middle in the 2000 presidential
election and his temperate bearing in the land
of the talking heads, McCain's voting record has been mainly
right-wing for 26 years, and rarely more so than
on women's issues. Among many examples, McCain has
backed abstinence-only education and parental
notification for teen contraception but opposed teen pregnancy
prevention programs, and voted against a bill
that would have made abstinence-only programs pass scientific
muster. He has opposed public funding for
birth control for low-income women, including desperately
impoverished women overseas, and voted against
a bill that would have forced insurance companies to
cover women's contraceptives. He has even
opposed equal pay for equal work.
Not the 13 of the original 13 colonies.
It has three rows of four stars each for a total
of 12 states.
The clear message is: Sarah Palin wants to weaken
the USA, to divide it, make it smaller, less powerful.
Clearly a traitor.
She doesn't believe in the REAL USA. Just like
her husband who wants Alaska to secede.
Why, she even wore the Alaska pin ABOVE the US
Flag in the VP debate,
which is forbidden in flag etiquette, but shows
her treasonous priorities.
Scott at Home
"If the looney-bin right decides to treat President
Obama as not just an opposition leader, but as a virtual enemy of the state,
as they did with Bill Clinton, it's going to be a very long eight years.
-- Kevin Drum, Link
When they impeach Obama, will the Democrats come to his rescue?
Or will they agree that he needed to be impeached?
Excerpt: Sometimes life imitates art. This is one of those
cases. Look at how prescient the creators
of the television series "Batman" wound up being
this many years later. Tell me this isn't
exactly John McCain's tactics, right down to
the "my friends" reference at 1:09 in the video:
ha ha
You gotta see this - don't scroll on until you see McCain as The Penguin
I keep hearing the phrase "clean coal" along with
"drill baby drill" as if these are real solutions
to our energy problem. There is no clean coal.
Coal is a dirty fuel from the mining to the releasing
of carbon dioxide into the air. "Drill
baby drill" just changes the location for a short period of time
where we will get a little of our dirty oil.
This planet is heating up and oil can coal will turn this planet
into a hell for our great grandchildren. Nuclear
doesn't give off carbon dioxide, but it has a waste
and weapons problem.
People - we have no choice. We have to do it right.
We can no longer turn our backs on reality.
Look at what happened to the economy when we
ignored reality. Wind and solar have enough
power to meet our energy needs if we get to work
right away and develop the technology to
make it happen. We need a new electrical grid
to transfer the power. We need to use battery
and ultra-capacitor technology to store energy
for electric cars.
We have been stupid for the last 8 years. The
first step towards solving the problem starts on
election day. If we are going to survive and
thrive we are going to decide not to reelect the very
same people who caused the problem. Our best
days are ahead of us only if we as a people take
responsibility for our choices to make sure that
tomorrow is going to be better than today.
Excerpt: The Democratic nominee scorned the "prejudice
and bigotry and hatred and division" on display
in the Arizona senator's campaign. As for his
own platform, he said that "we will do all these things
because we love people instead of hate them.
... Beware of those who fear and doubt and those
who rave and rant about the dangers of progress."
This wasn't last week, but 44 years ago. The Republican
from Arizona was Barry Goldwater.
And the Democrat, of course, was LBJ -
my Dad.
Hey Jonah, talk about "Getting off easy," how's your Mom?
"McCain as a vicious campaigner is a complete
fabrication, but, again, a brilliant subterfuge
on the part of Team Obama that, in fact, has run, via appendages, the
far more vicious race."
-- Victor Davis Hanson, Link
Hey Vic, I'll donate to McCain's campaign if you can diagram
that incoherent abortion of the English language on a blackboard.
Christ, you sound like a Democrat (not a compliment).
After McCain's gigantic screw-ups, I think Obama's got this.
Quotes
"If someone like Saddam came back, I'd not
only support him, I'd invite him to dinner. My uncle was killed in 1982 in the
Dujail incident. Still, life then was a million times better than now,"
-- Sadd Mukhlif, a Shi'ite, Link
Hey Bart, they're just as stupid and backwards
here in Texas.
At the end of the day, It'll still be fire engine
red and, once again, my vote won't count.
Really gets "old" living around ignorant people.
"Guns, God and Abortion, that's the ticket!" Party first, Country last.
Thankfully, the rest of the country will carry
Senator Obama to victory,
