Excerpt: Unfolding is the instructive story of Joseph
Cassano, former head of AIG's Financial Products Group, whose role in his
company’s crash - which triggered the ruin of
world money markets - may soon lead to criminal charges against him.
What the Cassano story points up once more is
how the existence of tax and regulatory havens across the world
encourage nefarious conduct, lack of transparency,
evasion of taxes and corporate criminality.
According to ABC News, Cassano is the subject
of a criminal fraud investigation by the F.B.I. that is examining how he
and his colleagues in AIG’s financial products
division set up the scheme to insure more than a trillion dollars of junk
mortgage paper held by major banks. He walked
away from those bad deals with over $300 million in personal profit. Aside from the fascinating matter of how he managed
to commit these catastrophic bets without interference from his
superiors, the most pertinent question is how
he gamed the gaping loopholes in the international regulatory and legal
systems.
As I said in BCR 150 (maybe 151) the IRS should audit everyone who made
more than $10M since Bush stole power.
That money didn't "go missing" and it didn't "evaporate." It
was f-ing stolen by the BFEE.
Let's discover who stole the millions and arrest them and get our money
back.
There will never be justice
in the United States until this drunken asshole is jailed for mass murder,
corruption, flagrant violations of the law, and his refusal to recognize
human rights. He is also responsible for the worst attack on the United States
since Pearl Harbor. He is directly reponsible for the misery and lost hopes of millions of human
beings because of his reckless handling of the American economy.

Excerpt: In an era when the Internet, economy, and changing
habits of young people in how and where they get their information
is decimating the standard newspaper and news
agency business models, it sounds as of the Associated Press is throwing
down
the gauntlet to Google - and to weblogs and other
sites - and threatening to sue sites that use it’s content without licensing.
This story could be a huge one (for instance,
this site will soon probably halt linking anything from AP if it means
that unless
we quote X number of words according to a formula
we’re accused of violating copyrights):
'The Whore AP and its member newspapers will take
legal action against Web sites that use newspaper articles without
legal permission, the group said on Monday, in
a clear shot at aggregators like Google.
In a speech at The Whore AP’s annual meeting in
San Diego, William Dean Singleton, chairman of the group, said,
“We can no longer stand by and watch others walk
off with our work under misguided legal theories.”
In a statement, The Whore AP said it would develop
a system to track news articles online and determine whether
they were being used legally.
Saturday afternoon, I read a story about how Jimmy Page got the most
applause at the Rock Hall of Fame ceremony.
Trouble is, the live ceremony was still hours away so
I must assume - once again - the Whore AP just made shit up.
Of course, it stands to reason that Page (who they called "legend" all
night) would get the most applause
but why are "news gathering agencies" assuming things and making shit
up?
The Whore AP did that all thru Bush's Reich.
They told us what Bush meant to say - ignoring what he actually said.

One can't say it enough "Fuck the Amnerican press."

Right after the Va Tech shootings a student started
a group that was for allowing others to carry handguns legally on campus.
He believed that the whole thing would have been
stopped by some pistol-packin' Joe College.
Point-of-fact that it would have been more deadly.
I live here in Blacksburg and don't trust these nipple-heads to operate
a
motor vehicle, let alone use handguns with
any amount of skill. So while our little vigilante goes and gets
into a shoot out with Cho,
endangering others, another student packin' heat
comes in unaware and shoots the first as he is clueless as to what the
hell is going on.
This could be multiplied by the number of handgun
Hokies that happened to be in various classrooms of the building.
Then come the police, all they know is that shots
have been fired and students are in danger.
How do they sort out our killer form our little
self-appointed deputies? It reminds me of when
Gilmore was Gov. here in VA and wanted to repeal
the ban on concealed weapons in bars.
Just what I wanted as a bartender; fistfights
that turn into gunfights.
Joel
Many years ago - when Wal-Mart still sold handguns,
I wrote about that.
Some nut accidentally fires a gun while mishandling
it on Aisle 3.
Some Gomer on Aisle 5 hears it and wants to play
the hero, so he fires into Aisle 3.
Some Goober on Aisle 7 hears the shots and he
fires at Gomer.
Meanwhile, the original handjob fires at Gomer,
and Goober thinks he's being fired on.
So you got a Mexican gang war all because one
guy made a mistake.
You should have to have an IQ of at least 64 to pack heat.

Excerpt: Senate Republicans are now privately threatening
to derail the confirmation of key Obama administration nominees for top
legal positions by linking the votes to suppressing
critical torture memos from the Bush era. A reliable Justice Department

advises me that Senate Republicans are planning
to “go nuclear” over the nominations of Dawn Johnsen as chief of the Office
of
Legal Counsel in the Department of Justice and
Yale Law School Dean Harold Koh as State Department legal counsel if the
torture
documents are made public. The source says
these threats are the principal reason for Obama’s abrupt pullback last
week from a commitment to release some of the documents.
A Republican Senate source confirms the strategy. It now appears that
Republicans are seeking an Obama commitment to
safeguard Bush’s darkest secrets in exchange for letting these nominations
go forward.

parodic outrage, it's clearer than ever who is responsible."

Recently, I had a problem with Wikipedia,
in that they had no entry for Dr Julius Younger,
the man who did more than anyone to erase
the Polio plague.
Last night, I watched "Midway" on the Military
Channel.
They said bomber pilot Dick Best was instrumental
in changing the course of history (for the better).
so I went to Wikipedia to check out his
story and once again - nothing.
How is Wikipedia to be taken seriously when
they ignore historic American heroes?
Excerpt: Dick Best, who dramatically helped changed the
course of World War II in the Pacific, recently died. He was 91.
Best led dive bombing squadron VB-6 aboard USS
Enterprise (CV 6). His action in the Battle of Midway helped
destroy three Japanese carriers, turning the
tide of the war in the Pacific.
On June 4, 1942, (then Lt.) Best's squadron was
a member of Lt. Cmdr. Wade McClusky's Enterprise Air Group.
His group of about 16 planes combined with Cmdr.
Max Leslie's USS Yorktown (CV 5) Air Group, which by fate arrived
at virtually the same time over the top of three
Japanese carriers -- Akagi, Kaga, Soryu. Their unintended rendezvous doubled
the size of the U.S. strike force, which led
to fatal blows to the three ships -- all veterans of the attack on Pearl
Harbor.
Best's squadron became separated with the unexpected
arrival of McCluskey's bombers. Splitting his force, Best led the
1st Division of three planes from the southwest
against Akagi. Seeing the yellow flight deck emblazoned with
a large red circle,
Best dropped his 1,000-pound bomb from 2,500
feet, scoring a hit abreast of the bridge at 10:22 a.m., followed in succession
by hits from his two partners, leaving the ship
a wreck. His mates in the 2nd Division hit Kaga, contributing to the carrier's
sinking.
Best, a 1932 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy,
re-grouped what was left of his squadron and headed for USS Enterprise.
Landing with just 30 gallons of fuel, he reported
that three carriers were burning but a fourth (Hiryu) had not been touched.
Sidebar: At this point, Henry Fonda said, "I want that
fourth carrier." He got it.
Later that day, Best became sick. During pre-flight,
he inhaled gas fumes. Although he cleared his senses well enough to attack,
the veteran Navy flyer had activated latent tuberculosis;
his career in the military would soon end.
Quotes
"For extraordinary heroism and distinguished
service in the line of his profession as Squadron Commander of VB-6. He led his squadron against the Japanese invasion
fleet during the Battle of Midway, June 4-6, 1942, with such boldness, determination and utter disregard of personal
safety that he contributed in a large degree to the magnificent victory
of our forces. His conduct throughout was in keeping with
the finest traditions of the Naval service." -- Citation on Best's Navy Cross

his brains and heroism at Midway, Link
I'm pissed that I didn't know about Dick Best
until yesterday.
Of course, I blame our whore media.
The Dick Best story is super-important and
super-exciting, yet he's a historical nobody?
Wikipedia has pages on low IQ internet comedians
and Paris Hilton (not an attack, I like her)
but real American heroes like Dr Julius
Youngner and Dick Best can't even get a mention?
Listen, somebody's gotta lead the opposition,
and it may as well be Krugman, mostly because he knows what the fuck he's
talking about.
And if you actually read him, he's not attacking
a la Rushpig "I hope he fails because he's wrong;" his point of view is:
"He's wrong and he's
likely to fail because of it, but I hope I'm
wrong."
I repeat:Obama doesn't give a rat's kiester
about working people, and to me, that's the one mortal sin you
can commit as a Democrat.
Bart, you really ought to start cheering for
Krugman instead of bagging on him. It's only if guys like him get heard
and taken seriously that
Obama can be made to change course. And he needs
to change course, big time, or we're all (except the banksters) in trouble.
So what if the media is promoting him because
he's critical of Obama? If he's convinced Obama's wrong, what should he
do?
Shut up because the media might run with it?
Anyone who's the least bit honest with themselves wouldn't let that deter
them. Just sayin'.
Scott Peterson (no, not that one)
Scott, that underlined sentence begs the question:
"Compared
to who?" Dems like to compare Dem presidents to mythical
"perfect presidents" but there is no such thing.
Dems like to rag on Clinton, but he was the best
we've had since FDR.
As far as Krugman, I have a Kos problem with him,
meaning last summer, media whores used those phoney Kos polls as "proof"
that Hillary couldn't even get to 2% approval
with "Democrats." and Kos sucked that attention up like a 200 hp Hoover.
BTW, that phenom has never been explained. How did Kos hyp-mo-tize his readers to a greater-than-98% degree? As I've often said, I can't convince a majority of my readers that
the sun is hot, yet Kos got 98.5% of his (dare I say sheep?) to agree that Hillary
was unelectable. And with 6000-8000 people voting, don't tell me the poll was "unscientific." Either Kos flat-out fixed the poll or there's something in the Kos
water.
Today, Krugman finds himself the darling of the whore media, and he
SEEMS to love the spotlight.
I have a problem with that, but Krugman hasn't crossed-over
into Parry/Randi/Brazile/Olbermann insanity - yet.

Jim Gibbons of having extramarital affairs with two women
in divorce papers unsealed in Reno. She
says in the filings unsealed by a court order Monday that the Republican
governor has been untruthful about his "infidelity"
with the two women.
The documents identify one woman as Kathy Karrasch,
who received more than 860 text messages from
the governor on his state cell phone. The
governor publicly apologized and reimbursed the state $130.
He denied the messages were "love notes."
Dawn Gibbons' lawyers identify the second woman as Leslie Durant,

wasn't with his sleeping wife's

wasn't with a child.
wasn't with a barnyard animal?

Wizard of Oz Kansas. I think Barack has Jefferson Davis back there in his ancestry someplace. And then his father.
An African intellectual. Bantu, Masai, Griot type heritage - cattle raiders, lion killers. I mean it’s just so incongruous
that these two people would meet and fall in love. You kind of get past
that though. And then you’re into his story. Like an odyssey
except in reverse."

Hey Bart,
My theory about prosecutorial misconduct against
Ted Stevens is that it was deliberately done
to immunize him against future honest prosectution,
and jail. An honest prosecution of Stevens
(following an honest investigation) would have
dug up a lot more dirt on the old fart, and he
would have been put away for the rest of his
sorry life.
They were actually doing him a favor.
Lance
Dear Bart:
Maybe it went the other way. Maybe Stevens
is BFEE and they had their loyalists at Justice
build a “back door escape” for Stevens into the
Government’s case against him.
I always thought Stevens was BFEE.
Jim W
Bart, I doubt Bush wanted Stevens in prison in
the first place. I suspect they intentionally screwed up
the prosecution that badly knowing that it would
eventually get tossed out. Holder and Obama may have
even been in on the deal with the understanding
that at least the country would be rid of that tyrant.
