"No one is above the law," -- Nancy Pelosi,
changing her tune, Link
After YEARS of "Bush can commit all
the crimes he wants and impeachment is still
off the table," Nancy Pelosi now says that laws mean things?
I wonder what changed her mind?

Quotes
"I would have thought that if 100 plus prisoners
were tourtured to death, it would have been on the network news. Even Fox
would have said something about it!""
-- theoPitt, Link
Maybe twenty years ago it would have been, but today's American
whore media exists
for one reason and that's to make every possible nickel they
can and they do that by protecting
their fat-cat Republican friends at the expense of the Democrats
and the weak and the poor.
Excerpt: Intelligence officials released documents yesterday
saying that Nancy Pelosi was briefed in September 2002 about
Bush's plans to torture helpless suspects, seeming
to contradict her repeated statements that she was never told the
techniques were actually being used.
In a 10-page memo outlining an almost seven-year
history of classified briefings, intelligence officials said that Pelosi
and then-Rep. Porter Goss were the first two
members of Congress briefed on the tactics. Then the ranking member
and chairman of the House intelligence committee,
respectively, Pelosi and Goss were briefed Sept. 4, 2002, one week
before the anniversary of the terrorist attacks
of Sept. 11, 2001.
Is this why impeachment has always been off the table?
Because she was Bush's co-conspirator?
Excerpt: Who in the Bush White House tried to shred a
memo challenging the use of torture?
On April 21, Philip Zelikow, who was counselor
to Kinda Sleazy Rice, revealed on Foreign Policy's
"Shadow Government" blog that he wrote a memo
in 2005 disputing the conclusions of Bush Justice
Department lawyers that torture was legal. The
existence of such a memo was a surprise. But Zelikow
also disclosed that the "White House attempted
to collect and destroy all copies of my memo."
This story is not over.
Zelikow says he doesn't know for sure who in
the White House ordered the suppression of his memo,
but he says that his "supposition at the time"
was that Cheney's office was behind the cover-up.

"Obama will not have a White House ceremony
to observe the National Day of Prayer."
-- Ed Henry, Link
"This has been a tradition in our country since
1952 with Truman...I think that we are looking to him today to lead this country and this has been a huge
tradition. It has also been one that has been protected in our country through our constitution. We should be
able to gather and pray as we see fit."
-- Elisabeth Hasselbitch, who apparently can't pray unless Obama holds
a ceremony,Link
I find it odd when "Christains" lie about prayer.
Isn't anything sacred to them?
When some court rules they can't build a 5,000 pound Ten Commandment
monument on government property,
these liars scream, "They won't let
us pray," which is pure horseshit
and they know it's horseshit.
When some court rules they can't force the Ten Commandments on
a class full of Christians, Jews and Muslims,
these liars scream, "They won't let
us pray," which is pure horseshit
and they know it's horseshit.
No power on Earth can stop a conscious person from praying, so
why do they lie about that?
If they can't be honest about prayer - can they be honest about
anything?
Why can't Christians show a little respect for their religion?
Is Jesus Christ himself showed up - would Hasselbitch lie right
to his face?

conservatives' prayer-related dishonesty or their prayer-related whining." -- Steve Benen, Link

Excerpt: Our president bears a striking resemblance to
the Spock
whose mixed race made him cultural translator
to the universe.
Spock has been on many minds lately, and not entirely
because of the new film. Big thinkers have referenced
Spock in recent months, drawing parallels between
the dependably logical half-Vulcan and Barack Obama.
Obama positioned himself in the primaries as a
man "at home with both blacks and whites, someone whose mixed
racial background has forced him to become a
cultural translator." In this sense Obama even surpasses Spock,
whose struggle to reconcile his half-human, half-Vulcan
genes is a continual source of inner conflict. In one episode,
the entire Enterprise crew (except for Kirk)
is infected by alien spores that turn them into doe-eyed flower children.
The "cure" is anger -- thus Kirk is forced to
provoke his first officer to rage. He succeeds, spectacularly, by insulting
Spock’s racial pedigree: "All right, you mutinous
half-breed! You’re an overgrown jackrabbit! An elf, with a hyperactive
thyroid! A simpering, devil-eared freak whose
father was a computer and his mother an encyclopedia!"
ha ha
That sounds just like Hannity attacking America's
duly-elected president.
"Sarah Palin's approval rating in Alaska has
dropped from 86% a year ago all the way down to 54%, after Alaska got a chance to see her
family soap opera play out on the national stage." -- Political Wire, Link
Wait, is that fair?
Don't we also have to consider her massive ignorance and her pride
in what she doesn't know?
I see stories in the news about who in the Bush
administration will NOT be prosecuted for torture while
each day we learn more and more about what happened.
We do not yet know who did what, and we need
to at least figure out what happened before we
make any decisions about prosecuttion.
Torture is a serious matter. Torture defines who
we are as a people and as a nation.
We hold ourselves out as a nation of laws. Yet
if we try to cover up what happened and we fail
to prosecute those who committed crimes amounting
to Treason to the Constitution, we send a
message to the world that our position on torture
is dishonest.
It is important that America show the world that
we take the issue of torture seriously enough to at least
find out what happened and that our laws of the
United States apply to everyone, including the President.
1. I like the free "AOL Radio."
I use it to stream progressive talk - Stephanie Miller in the morning,
Thom Hartmann in the afternoon,
and maybe Big Ed after that if I'm in the mood. I use it every day.
2. "Pandora" and "Slacker" are both
cool, free streaming radio apps that let you pick your favorite bands,
and then plays
random tunes (with cover art) that the app determines are of the
same genre as the band!
If you choose
"Garbage" for example, it will play random Garbage tunes, but will
throw in maybe Poe, Tori Amos,
Hole, and other
alt-rock (particularly female-fronted). You can put in any
band, and the app will surprise you
with random tunes
from "like" artists.
3. iStayFit is great. It is fitness
app that lets you keep track of workout progress. I like it
cuz I don't have to
walk around the gym with a
notebook and pencil like a douchebag. It was about $5 and is packed
with useful features.
The iPhone rocks.
I'm not one to spend cash on "cool" gadgets,
but the iPhone just works and make life easier.

Excerpt: Binyam Mohamed, who returned to Britain after
his release last month, said the MI5 memos showed that
British spies orchestrated his questioning while
he was being tortured with a scalpel in Morocco.
Speaking for the first time about his 6½
years held as a CIA terror suspect in prisons in Pakistan, Afghanistan,
Morocco and Guantanamo Bay, Mohamed gave a graphic
account of “nightmarish tortures” that led him to come
“close to insanity”. He said one interrogator
in Morocco took his penis in his hand and cut it up to 30 times.
I can't even imagine "scalpel penis torture,"
but that's what Bush turned America into.
You KNOW the CIA was
doing this to those poor bastards at Gitmo.
Why do you think they illegally destroyed the
taped evidence?
Do you think they destroyed the evidence of waterboarding
as described by Rush and Hannity?
No, they destroyed evidence of them cutting a helpless suspect's penis
- and laughing about it.
That's worse than anything Stephen King ever dreamed up and that's what
Bush and Cheney
(and maybe nancy Pelosi) did to America.
Excerpt: Jack bauer's Kiefer Sutherland has been charged
with assault for head-butting a fashion designer at a Manhattan nightclub.
New York police said the charges were filed after
Sutherland spoke to investigators at a police station in lower Manhattan
on Thursday.
The designer, Jack McCollough, claims Sutherland
attacked him after an argument, leaving him with a cut on his face.
It's unclear how these new charges will affect
his probation status for TWO DWIs that sent him to jail for
48 days last year.
Gezz, you talk about an alcohol problem...
Keifer has all those millions and he can't stay out of trouble?
He can't pay some dude $100K a year to follow him around and tackle
him
when he's about to commit a third crime that will likely result in
jail time?
On probation from alcohol crimes and he gets drunk in public AGAIN
and head butts a innocent bystander and breaks his nose in front of
witnesses?
Keifer makes David Hasselhoff look dignified and responsible.
About a year ago Paris Hilton, on probation from a DUI, was stopped
for not having a drivers license
and America rose up as one and DEMANDED that she be thrown in jail
and the whore LA cops,
for the first time in my 55-year old memory, bowed to the will of the
angry mob and put her behind bars
but I've heard no similar outcry for this VIOLENT, TRIPLE offender.
Excerpt: A simple fact is being overlooked in the Bush-era
torture scandal: the number of cases in which detainees have been tortured
to death.
Abuse did not only involve the high-profile cases
of smashing detainees into plywood barriers (“walling”), confinement in
coffin-like boxes
with insects, sleep deprivation, cold, and waterboarding.
To date approximately 100 detainees, including CIA-held detainees, have
died
during U.S. interrogations, and some are known
to have been tortured to death.
The bottom line is that many detainee homicides
in Iraq and Afghanistan were the direct result of approval and orders from
the highest
levels of government are accomplices. A
review of homicide cases, however, shows that few detainee deaths have
been properly investigated.
Many were not investigated at all. And no official
investigation has looked into the connection between detainee deaths and
the interrogation
policies promulgated by the Bush administration...
In February 2006, a review by Human Rights First
determined that almost 100 detainees died in U.S. custody in Afghanistan
and Iraq
as of 2005, and that almost half of the cases
were clearly homicides. Several cases discussed in the report were clear
cases of torture homicides.
Bush's murders haven't been overlooked at bartcop.com I've been screaming about it - but nobody wants to talk about the facts
in front of their face.
The figure I heard was 120 or 128, but we'll never know because Bush
made it illegal to ask.
Cheney says they only waterboarded three helpless suspects
- how do we know if that's true?
Maybe another 120 drowned from their "simulated" drownings, but nobody
knows.
Like with 9-11, all we know for sure is that the Bush bastards lied
about what they did..
Excerpt: Jury selection is expected to begin later this
week in a sex abuse lawsuit against the Seattle Catholic Archdiocese.
In court papers, four men claim they were sexually
assaulted by Patrick O'Donnell, a former Spokane priest.
Former Seattle Archbishop Raymond Hunthausen
is named in the suit, among other church officials who supervised O'Donnell.
Spending most of his 26-year tenure as a priest
in Spokane, O'Donnell served as a parish priest in Seattle between 1976
and 1978.
He came to that post, according to the plaintiffs,
after church officials learned he had been sexually abusing boys in Spokane.
The plaintiffs argue that, on hearing of the assaults
from O'Donnell's supervisors, Hunthausen directed him to sex predator treatment.
Still, Hunthausen restored O'Donnell's credentials
six weeks after he arrived in Seattle and he started raping again.
This is the pattern that continues to this day.
Do you send YOUR cute little son to a Catholic school?
Lemme guess, you met the charismatic young priest and he's "not
like that," right?
Each time a priest gets caught, the parishoners express shock and dismay.
Wait, there's one more kicker:
During his time in Seattle, O'Donnell was allowed
to obtain a doctorate in psychology at the University of Washington.
His thesis, was titled "A Prisoner's Dilemma:
Evoking Trust Between Children and Adults."
Really?
You'd turn your son over to a group of global, organized rapists?
You'd turn your son over to a monster with a doctorate in fooling children?
And you send the Catholics money?
So they can buy more silence from more victims?
I'm calling on you to stop feeding this pack of rapists.
Your money would be better spent on cocaine and hookers - or sent to

Dick Cheney is imminently qualified to be President.
That doesn't mean we want him.
A Ford Expedition is a pretty decent vehicle,
but I won't buy one because it's too big for my needs.
In other words, mere qualification does not equal
desire.
Sure, Alito and Roberts might have been well qualified,
but that doesn't make putting them on the Court a good idea.
I wish somebody besides you, me, Keith Olbermann
and Markos Moulitsas would say this to the next clown
to whine about President Obama having voted nay
on Alito and Roberts while admitting they're qualified.

Subject: Cheney running
scared
Hey Bart!
This is the first time that I can remember (and
I have that AARP card) that a former vice president
went so far out of his way to defend the administration
he was a member of. We have heard more
from him in the last 100 days than we heard the
entire 8 years he was hiding in an undisclosed location.
We are not talking about an incoming administration
enacting laws to retroactively persecute their predecessors.
The issue is whether or not existing laws were
broken.
Cheney is running scared! Why else would he be
shooting his mouth off?
They must have really done something BAAD!
Keep swinging that hammer,
