Robert Novak Was a Liar

Washington’s punditocracy is in mourning over the death of Robert Novak, with many warm remembrances
about his outsized personality and his supposed love of reporting. But Novak often served as a dishonest
propagandist and would have been condemned in a healthy journalistic world.

For instance, not only did Novak disclose the identity of covert CIA officer Valerie Plame in 2003 – in line with
a White House campaign to discredit her husband for criticizing the deceptions behind the Iraq invasion – but Novak
continued a jihad of lies against Wilson and Plame for the next several years.

In one such attack on March 22, 2007, Novak reprised right-wing myths that had been disseminated about the
Plame-gate case to protect the political flanks of  Bush, Cheney and other participants in the anti-Wilson campaign.

Despite containing a litany of lies, Novak’s column was uncritically published in the Washington Post’s editorial section,
which even cribbed from Novak’s disinformation for use in the Post’s own ugly attacks on Wilson, whose principal sin
appears to have been that he was the first Washington insider to accuse Bush of having “twisted” the WMD intelligence on Iraq.

Subject: medical care

hi,

my 10 yr old son told me he had some kind of sore on the roof of his mouth.
he had been eating some hard candy and it may have cut or irritated the tissue there.
usually, after a couple of days, mouth sores go away but his hadnt... it was getting painful for him to eat.

i told him that he might have an infection and that we should go to a doctor. so around 2 o clock,
we walked over to the local clinic, about 200 meters, and asked if there was a doctor on duty.

we were told that the doctor was still out for lunch but the dentist was in, which was perfect for us.
the dentist examined my sons mouth. indeed, there was a small infection on the wound so the dentist
prescribed a childrens dose of antibiotic and told him to swish with salt water several times a day.

we walked over to the nurses station and gave her the written prescription and she returned
a moment later with the medicine. i paid the bill, we left the clinic and went back home.

total distance traveled... about 400 meters.
total time spent... about 30 minutes.
total cost... about 3 dollars.

Cops: It's Time to Legalize Drugs

Drug manufacturing and distribution is too dangerous to remain in the hands of unregulated criminals.
Drug distribution needs to be the combined responsibility of doctors, the government, and a legal and regulated
free market. This simple step would quickly eliminate the greatest threat of violence: street-corner drug dealing.

We simply urge the federal government to retreat. Let cities and states (and, while we're at it, other countries)
decide their own drug policies. Many would continue prohibition, but some would try something new. California
and its medical marijuana dispensaries provide a good working example, warts and all, that legalized drug distribution
does not cause the sky to fall.

Having fought the war on drugs, we know that ending the drug war is the right thing to do -- for all of us, especially
taxpayers. While the financial benefits of drug legalization are not our main concern, they are substantial. In a July
referendum, Oakland, Calif., voted to tax drug sales by a 4-to-1 margin. Harvard economist Jeffrey Miron estimates
that ending the drug war would save $44 billion annually, with taxes bringing in an additional $33 billion.

Without the drug war, America's most decimated neighborhoods would have a chance to recover. Working people
could sit on stoops, misguided youths wouldn't look up to criminals as role models, our overflowing prisons could
hold real criminals, and -- most important to us -- more police officers wouldn't have to die.
 

This is going to make God very angry.
He wants His sick children to die in pain.

Texas's mandatory Bible Class

without knowing the stories, themes, and words of the Bible. Kudos to the Texas Board of Education for not skirting
this “contentious fight.” As long as the teachers avoid “engaging in religious indoctrination,” these classes should benefit everyone.

That’s one of the problems with the law, said Jeremy Burchard in The UT Daily Texan. Teachers haven’t been trained to teach
“such an explosive topic,” and Texas didn’t provide funding to instruct them. That means biblical literacy classes will “devolve”
into legally questionable, polarizing free-for-alls—and “dozens of inevitable lawsuits” will follow.
 

These religious frauds are so unsure of their faith, they want the government to say, "You worship the one, true God."
The fact that they always say they want the government to stay out of their religious affairs is lost on them.

They are scared little ninnies who can't make it thru the day with out someone saying, "You're not crazy."

Hey Bart,

If the Right wants to end socialism then the Dems need to put forward a bill to end Medicare and Social Security.
Since the Right are such dipshits reverse psychology should work like a charm.  The Dems could just say that they
are going to let the market decide who lives and who dies.  If any Republicans argue against it then we can just call THEM socialists.
I can guarantee we would pass health care reform that would make the British system seem tame.

The Unbearable Weakness of Democratic Being

Obama might be a genius with some great tricks up his sleeve, but the evidence so far says that's not true.
More likely, he thinks he can reason with rabid dogs and we know that's a sure loser of a position.

If Obama doesn't get a handle on this soon, he'll be a one-term president and some insane handjob
like Sarah Palin could get in there and make Bush look like a decent president by comparison.

What will it take for Obama to abandone his "Let's be friends" approach to the wild animals?

Nataline Sarkisyan, victim of a Bush "death panel"

Ms. Sarkysian had leukemia, and was admitted to a hospital for a bone marrow transplant.  There were complications
and her kidneys and liver failed. Her brother donated a kidney. She was ready for a liver transplant (a relatively routine
procedure), but her insurance company would not approve the procedure by claiming it was "experimental". In other words,
a bean counter at Cigna made the decision that since they had already shelled out a lot of cash for the bone marrow and
kidney transplant, that the cost of a liver transplant and followup care was just too high.

The bean counter at Cigna effectively sentenced Nataline Sarkisyan to death. Cigna eventually reversed course following
a public outcry, but it was too late. She passed away the evening that Cigna finally agreed to cover her procedure.
 

Are you tired of my suggestion that the coward Democrats need to list the damn facts?
If we would shove Natalie Sarkysian's story down the throat of every handjob screaming "death panels,"
they would STOP screaming that and move on to a different scream. Natalie's family went thru hell so
they might enjoy her legacy being that insurance bastards had to change their ways because of her.

But because the Democrats refuse to list the damn facts, we end up losing even when we control the game.

I'm telling you, WINNING IS EASY but our side refuses to even try.

Subject: Pot and the Invisible Cloud Being

I don't know where you get this idea that people are against the legalization of pot
because of the "Invisible Cloud Being".

I thought people were opposed because they thought pot would lead to harder drugs,
like cocaine or heroin (after all, how do you think Robert Downey Jr. became an addict?).

I blame religion because the anti-pot people have no other excuse.
Medical science says pot is ten times better for you than booze,
yet it's illegal "because it's wrong."  That's all they've got.

And when the logicians try to legalize it, ity's the churches who
come out fighting the strongest and if you disagree with your preacher
he will use scare tactics to guarantee that you'll burn for eternity.

Your second paragraph was comedy that didn't work.
Robert Downey Jr did NOT become a heroin addict because of pot.
More likely, he became an addict because he's a "try anything and everything
and when you do, take it to the very limit" kind of guy.  You know, the kind
of guy who'd do a dozen shots of Cuervo Gold and then race his motorcycle.

Did you know 88% of all heroin addicts were breast fed?
Should we outlaw breast feeding?

Did you know 99% of all heroin addicts drank mild as children?
Should we outlaw milk?

If there's any relation between pot and heroin it's the fact that both are illegal
and your heroin dealer probably has some pot he can sell you, too.

If they sold pot at Wal-Mart and Walgreens, that wouldn't be a problem.

Bottom line, legal pot is the only logical answer and when you fight logic
you're fighting the doesn't-exist Invisible Cloud Being.

Sidebar:
The most dangerous thing about pot is its illegality. If you get caught with a joint
you could be put in a steel cage with thugs who might rape you or beat you or murder you.
That's the most dangerous aspect of pot.

only 51 votes, rendering most objections irrelevant. Historical trends indicate that it’s unlikely the Democrats will expand
their majorities in 2010. Politically, therefore, there’s not likely to be a better moment for health reform than right now."

I'm basically happy with Obama. In the area I know most about, foreign policy, he has excelled,
beyond what I anticipated, and gotten to the heart of critical issues bogging our nation's military etc unnecessarily.

So, what do we have to do to get Harry and Nancy kicked out? I spank my representatives all the time,
but not sure what it takes Constitutionally to get rid of these two idiots. Does any one in Bart World know?

I once had the mind-numbingly exasperating task of covering city government in Grand Prairie, Texas.
In the early 90s (that's the 1990s), the council was considering granting allow a permit to a restaurant that served "al-kee-hawl."
Grand Prairie, a shithole full of vast auto junkyards, violent clip joints just across the "dry line" and crooked bidnessmen,
didn't even have a Chili's Restaurant at that point.

One of the more progressive council members remarked to a council chamber packed with than 300 religiously
crazed handjobs that Jesus did, in fact, turn water into wine (like, 5 kegs, man!). Then a voice in the crowed shouted:
"Yeah, but you caint prove thar was al-ke-hawl in it!" to wild applause from his fellow handjobs.

The council member, unruffled at all, shot back: "Well, that would make it grape juice, and the Bible
says it was wine, not grape juice. And I believe in the literal Bible, unlike some here."

That shut their pie-holes.

That reminds me - I was a big fan of Madalyn Murray O'Hair who debated religious nuts on TV.

She was damn smart and she read the entire Bible, so when some idiot would make a wild-ass claim, Madalyn
would reply, "That's not in the Bible, but in Corinthians 22 it says blah, blah, blah" and shut them up.

I believe I got a lot of my debate style from her.
Each time they'd get cornered and change the subject, she would catch them and call them on it.
"Apparently you surrendered that last point because you changed the subject."

Madalyn Murray's lawsuit resulted in the removal of compulsory prayer from the America's public schools.
That alone should make her a hero to every religious person because who wants their prayers picked for them?
Instead, in 1964, Life magazine referred to her as "the most hated woman in America."

Damn, she was fun to watch - until they murdered her.

 Besides, like with the naked Dr Laura pictures, if it went to trail what would Exhibit A be?
 Every tabloid and whore network (which is all of them) would cover the trial and Vanessa Hudgens
