"We have to be tougher. The Democrats haven't
been tough enough. George Bush would have had the health
care bill done a long time ago. It would have gone through reconciliation
and been what we wanted." -- Howard Dean,
Link
Been what we wanted? I disagree.
Bush wouldn't have reconciled shit.
He would've put his health care bill up for a vote and explained
toRethugs
that anyone who voted against it would be drummed out of the
party.
Meanwhile, Obama is kissing traitor ass and getting backstabbed
for his efforts.
That's no way to run a White House.
Rethugs punish their enemies, Obama rewards his.
Obama is a smart man but he seems, at times, incapable of learning.
Excerpt: The shrewdest thing Obama ever said about his
own leadership style was in "The Audacity of Hope."
"I serve as a blank screen," Obama wrote, "on
which people of vastly different political stripes project
their own views." Never mind that it's a straight
steal from Ralph Ellison's classic 1952 novel "The Invisible Man."
If you're going to borrow themes, borrow good
ones.
The presidency, however, is very different from
an existential novel. In context, Obama was talking about the
same qualities Harry Reid cited in his clumsy
"Negro dialect" remarks: Obama's ability to be analytical about
other people's passions, and to offer the healing
balm of his personality, particularly in racially tense situations.
Obama's cool served him well during 2008 election
cycle. Some infatuated liberals saw him in near-messianic terms.
To older voters, it was almost as if Obama's
candidacy offered a do-over of 1968, with the students, professors
and hippies winning this time: no Nixon, no Kissinger,
no "Southern strategy." Just peace, prosperity and good vibes.
"The One," Oprah Winfrey called him.
One year in, good vibes are hard to find. The
left has gone into a disappointed sulk, while Fox Nation seems
to have gone stark raving mad. Any politician
with half Obama's intelligence had to see trouble coming.
Different people will see Coakley's loss differently
but one thing I think we can all agree on.
Ted Kennedy is spinning in his grave.
And the voters of Massachusetts just screwed the
rest of us out of health care reform.
You would think that America has already inflicted
enough bad judgment on itself.
How many times will it take before the voter
realizes the laws of cause and effect?

"Agree with the health care bill or not, could
you blame the president for being really upset that this signature initiative of his
administration could get tripped up because of some basic political miscalculations by people
who should know how to play this game?" -- Adam Nagourney,
Link
Adam, why did Obama turn "the signature initiative of his administration"
over to Reid & Pelosi, the most unliked Democrats in the
country?
Thank you for telling it like it is with the republosaurs.
I hate their bs as much as you do.
I just wish you had a link to facebook so I could
post it there.

Excerpt: Obama has accepted the resignation of his nominee
to head the Transportation Security Administration.
Erroll Southers, assistant chief for homeland
security at Los Angeles World Airports Police Department,
was nominated for the post by President Obama
in early September.
Sen. Jim DeMint, R-South Carolina, said, "Boo!"
so Obama surrendered again.
Bush installed criminals from
his father's old gang and the
Democrats said, "That's OK, the president
should get to pick whoever he wants."
How did I get stuck in a party that surrenders every time?
"Bush never had better than 51 Republican Senators
and was able to ram through some of the most harmful bills to ever become law in
this great country. He did it by not giving a damn what the Democrates or the main stream media thought or
said. They just did it and the voters ate it up. Voters like bold action and guts more than compromise and weakness
no matter what the outcome. Maybe Brown's win will kick some sense into the White House and
get Obama to come out of his stupor and get to work." -- JSG, Link
Remember how Paris Hilton tried to copyright "That's
hot?"
Too bad I couldn't copyright, "Obama
needs to wake up and come to work" back in August.
If I was paid a nickle everytime someone said that since then...
Excerpt: It took more than half a decade, countless American
and Iraqi deaths in a war based on lies, a sinking economy
and the drowning of an American city to finally
kill Bush-Cheney-Rove's dream of a conservative realignment.
Democrats, controlling it all, have managed to
kill their own dream of dominance in 12 months.
How did it happen?
The administration hasn't been true enough to
fundamental Democratic principles, has embraced some of Bush's
worst excesses on civil liberties, and has ditched
popular ideas (like the public option) in favor of watered down
centrist policies, thus looking weak and ineffectual.
"WHY can't we all figure this out? It's an
18-VOTE MAJORITY. That's A LOT OF EFFIN VOTES! Go out there, punch them in the face,
take their lunch money and get this damned thing done. If I hear one more radio guy saying that "this
could spell doom for the president's health care initiative" I'm going to scream. If you want it,
go out there and take it. " -- doc, Link
One of my favorite all time quotes was from Jock Ewing on the
old Dallas TV show.
Jock made Bobby (Democrat) the head of Ewing Oil, but JR (Rethug)
made all the decisions.
Bobby went crying to Daddy, "But Daddy,
you gave ME power," and Jock replied,
"Power isn't something you're given,
boy - Power is something you TAKE."
Bart, Massachusetts has entered the place where
I have put Florida, Ohio, Texas,
and all the states south of the Mason-Dixon line...it
is now not part of my United States.
I need a pair of scissors to start cutting stars
off my flag.
Pretty soon there may only be 13...

Hey, give me 2 weeks before you cut Oklahoma lose.
I have enjoyed your wicked sharp humor and excellent
political commentary immensely.
However, at the risk of being a pain in the ass,
I have to write one more time in response to
your written response on the latest webpage regarding
Dan D. Basically you claimed you were neutral.
Switzerland also claimed they were neutral.
Turns out – not so much…
By printing Dan D’s commentary, without an extended
opposition comment, you do lend credence
to Dan’s remarks, which I would stipulate are
anti-Semitism in the guise of anti-Zionism.
It's always a black hole when the subject comes
up, which is why I try to avoid it.
By the way, I have been to Israel. I discovered
that the vast majority of Israelis are secular,
and most Israelis DO want peace, as do the Palestinians.
It is a small group of religious fundamentalists
on both sides who refuse peace, and they are
influenced as well by the general sentiment of most Arab
nations who quite simply, would prefer for all
the Jews (everywhere) to die, ASAP.
Bart, you would not put up with racist remarks
against people of color (for which I applaud you)
so I am disappointed by the printing of Dan D’s
remarks without oppositional comment.
Sincerely,
B.L.L.
Clearly, the majority of Israelis do not want peace.
They could have peace if they left that desert for a deseert in America,
but they're so into that idiotic sacred sand they'd rather bury their
children than leave.
And before you say, "Why should they have to
leave?" I'll answer "To save their children's lives." Clearly, watching their kids grow up comes in second after their precious
religious insanity.
"How bad are things at NBC? I'll tell
you how bad they are. Today the BC peacock walked into a
Burbank KFC and surrendered." -- Dave, milking the Leno-Conan feud

Yesterday's page on the Mass acre was one of your

As a rabid Obama supporter, I found myself agreeing

I watched Coakley's concession speech Tuesday night and I was f-ing
outraged at the
way
she was joking and clowning around at the podium as if she's lost an
election for High School Class President.
Hey lady, if you can't take an election seriously, don't get in the
son-of-a-bitch.
The whole US election process is a sham as witnessed
by the Massachusetts results.
Martha Coakley wasn't supposed to win, giving
the GOP hope for the future.
It's a two party dog and pony show intended to
fool the American populace into believing
that our electoral system works, when in fact
there were discrepancies in the polling booth
in several areas in Massachusetts. Brown's name
was already completed in several ballots.
Easily hacked Diebold voting machines were used
for the special elections for Kennedy's senate seat.
Hector
If I was running in an important election, I would
address the Diebold issue a year in advance.
Like I always say, if Victory knocks on a Democrat's
door, they might answer it,
but they damn sure aren't going to work for it.
"I’m pretty close to giving up on Mr. Obama,
who seems determined to confirm every doubt I and others ever had about whether
he was ready to fight for what his supporters believed in." -- Paul Krugman, Link
"If you lose Massachusetts and that’s not a
wake-up call, there’s no hope of waking up." -- Evan Bayh (R-Trust me),

"We are convinced that Obama is not strong
enough to confront his enemy. We are concerned that he is not strong
to support his friends."
-- unnamed "Democratic leader" speaking to Mort Zuckerman,
Link
It looks like the Democrats have a much larger
majority in the Senate than either party has had for a long time.
Why couldn't they ram through anything they want?
Why does a "filibuster-proof supermajority" suddenly matter
now that Obama is President? I don't remember
hearing about that in the past.
According to Wikipedia, "Senator Strom Thurmond
(then D-SC, later R-SC)) set a record in 1957 by filibustering the Civil Rights Act
of 1957 for 24 hours and 18 minutes".
I don't understand how anyone gets the floor
in a meeting for 24 hours, but even if they could, so what?
They'd delay something for a few days and look
ridiculous, but what would they accomplish?
withheld
The only answer I can give you is the Democrats
have no will to win.
When the Rethugs say, "Boo!"
Democrats shit their pants and then faint.
When Bush was president, every Demo senator said,
"We're
powerless to stop him." But every GOP senator has the power to
stop anything they the Democrats propose.
Rethugs play hardball and the gelding Democrats
play patty cake.
Why oh why do they keep harping about the “60th”
democrat??
It wouldn’t matter if they had 80!
They can’t stand together on anything.
They could certainly learn a lesson from the
Repug’s in that department.
This health care reform should have been done
6 months ago.
The Senate insurance bill sucks and the House
Bill will never pass.
Might as well dump the whole mess and go on down
the road!
Maybe Obama will pull his head out of his ass
before it’s too late.

Excerpt: Raleigh NC's 106.1 FM has once again undergone
a metamorphosis, this time transforming itself into a conservative
talk station known as "Rush Radio" because of
the acquisition of its star player, Rush Limbaugh and his homies,
Sean Hannity and Glen Beck. This is not limited
to the Tarheel state but seems to be a trend sweeping the nation as
radio mega corporations such as Clear Channel
have found a bigger market in catering to Obama haters rather than
Kenny Rogers music lovers.
Talk about overkill. The residents in my neck
woods, the Raleigh-Durham area, are already surrounded by wall to wall
Right Wing sound 24 hours a day. The area has
the
extremely popular WPTF 680 AM as well as, WZTK Talk 101FM
beaming in Mike Savage a few county's over ,
courtesy of a 100,000 watt high powered system.
Anyone with a basic understanding of military
science knows the strategic advantage of controlling the airwaves.
The first thing that you do when conquering a
country is to take over the radio stations. Since the Right Wingers see
themselves as being engaged in a life or death
struggle against the Obama Administration and all things left, it makes
perfect sense that they are planning to convert
your local country music station into a Conservative central command center.
Now the Conservatives will argue that there is
a disproportionate number of liberal media folks.
Cow chips!
Name me one Left Wing commentator that can match
the amount of venom spewed by the Right's treacherous trio
of Beck, Hannity and Limbaugh. For every Alan
Colmes there are 100 Bill O'Reilly wannabes all across the country.

can a Teabagging nude centerfold become a member of 'the world's greatest deliberative

iHey Bart ~
I have two comments in the aftermath of the Brown
election ..........
1.In November 2009, the punditocracy declared
the Republican Party dead.
That was a load of crap, and we knew it.
Just like the current Obama-as-one-termer meme
is a load of crap.
Same people, spewing same crap.
2. In order for Obama to right the ship and move
forward, he needs to get rid of Rahm.
That one is the snake in the progressive grass.
He has no respect for us, and spends his time
kissing up to the likes of Kissy-face.
He needs to go.
Arianna is right, this Brown thing could be the
best thing
that could happen for us, IF
Obama gets the message.
Excerpt: The morning after the stunner in the Bay State,
Democrats were justifiably devastated.
Health Care reform is at ground zero. At every
turn during the Democratic push for reform, there has been
a constant chorus of dissent out there in the
country. Music to which many Democrats turned a deaf ear,
some at their own peril. The outcry
came not just from the political fringes, but from the great middle including
many of the independent voters who helped sweep
Barack Obama into the White House. Are they listening now?
If they are, they will hear the question again
and again, “Why are they trying to jam reform down our throats?”
The anger in the country is palpable -- I hear
it all the time. “Where are their priorities?” Priorities amid a
raging recession claiming too many Americans’
jobs and homes and life savings.
Stu is wrong.
Health care is bankrupting the poor and middle class and it gets worse
every year.
We need HCR but the Democrats have refused to educate the ignorant voters.
All they see on TV are screaming teabaggers and they get scared.
They've so bungled this, even after learning from the Clinton's mistakes,
angry mobs
are marching in the streets demanding to go bankrupt if they
get sick or injured.
Democrats couldn't sell "female companionship" on a troop train.
If this seat was important, why did the White House
stand there and watch her 30-point lead turn negative?
Subject: Clinton didn't lie
Bill Clinton did not lie about sex in his deposition.
Every deposition has a list of attached definitions
that, in this case, were negotiated beforehand by the attorneys
As I recall, this process took several weeks.
The definition of sex as used in the Clinton deposition involved actual
penetration by the Clenis into Monica's Hoo-hoo.
Because this penetration did not happen, President Clinton did not
lie during his deposition. The Republicans
lied to us about that.

Excerpt: There's plenty of blame to go around for Martha
Coakley's loss.
Let's start with Coakley herself.
She ran one of the most pathetic campaigns in
recent times.
And then there's Harry Reid.
His incompetent Senate leadership made this election
matter far more than it should.
But let's go to someone who deserves an awful
lot of blame--Obama.
He has consistently chosen weak tactics in dealing
with Congress, the media, and the public at large.
I just heard snippets, but it appears Tuesday's
news means "stay the course" to our president.
He wants to stick with the health care plan that
everybody hates
and he wants our new centerfold senator seated
as fast as possible.
Obama - always willing to accomodate the enemy.
Unlike Al Franken, when the GOP made him wait
seven months.
Subject: A lifelong liberal:
I want to be a conservative
I want to be a conservative. I want to be free
from learning things.
I want to be able to hate people without understanding
them.
I want tobe free from social obligation.
I want to be told what to do by a drug-addled
egomaniac.
I want to believe that everything positive I
accomplished was done by myself alone
and my failures are the result of women, minorities,
immigrants, and "Big Government."
I want to re-write American/world history to justify
my behavior.
But most importantly, I want to be a raving arrogant
lunatic throughout it all..

Excerpt: The rifle sights that U.S. troops use to kill
Muslims in combat in Iraq and Afghanistan not only
help them find their targets, they also help
them find God. The scopes are inscribed with Bible codes.
Now the references to Bible passages are raising
concerns that the U.S. could be breaking
its own ban against proselytizing in the war
zones.
The maker of the sights, a Michigan company named
Trijicon, has a $660 million contract with
the government to provide 800,000 sites to the
military. It says it has been providing the military
with equipment since 1995 and has never had any
complaints.
"We don't publicize this," said Tom Munson, Trijicon's
director of sales.
"It's not something we make a big deal out of.
But when asked, we say, 'Yes, it's there.'"
The inscriptions are in raised lettering near
the serial number. For example, one marking says "JN8:12,"
which is a reference to John 8:12: "When Jesus
spoke again to the people, he said, 'I am the light of the world.
Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness,
but will have the light of life.'"
Jesus, these people are perverted.
