Subject: that crazy Phoenix bishop

So Bishop Thomas J. Olmsted has found time from his busy day of protecting pedophiles
to practice medicine without a license, or an education.

BTW St. Joseph's Hospital is one of the top hospitals in the U.S. And is tax supported.
Not one cent comes from the Church. The sin the hospital committed was saving a woman’s life.
But to this death panel SOB, a women’s life has no value.

I think he should be stripped of his golden dress and given a coat of Tar and feathers
Its way past time to put the church’s on the tax rolls, and some how stop them from
killing people with their superstitious nonsense

Rasty

P.S.  Besides, since an earlier pope decreed that abortion was allowable to save the life of the mother,
Bishop Olmstead has broken a Papal Decree!  Shouldn't he be excommunicated for that?

The great Richard Pryor
He would've turned 70 December 1

SIRIUS XM Radio will launch "Richard Pryor Radio," a four-day uncensored channel
devoted to the legendary comedian's decades of groundbreaking work.

Widely considered one of the most innovative and daring comic talents of our time,
Pryor explored controversial issues of racial inequity with great insight. Pryor would have celebrated his 70th birthday this month.

"Richard Pryor Radio" will launch December 30 at 5:00 am ET and will run through 11:59 pm ET on January 2
on SIRIUS channel 108 and XM channel 139. "Richard Pryor Radio" will offer listeners the chance to hear
Pryor's work in its purest form: raw, unedited and uncensored. The channel will feature hundreds of tracks
from live concert performances, stand-up gigs and his seminal comedy albums spanning 1968-1992.

"SIRIUS XM's 'Richard Pryor Radio' is the perfect way to pay tribute to Richard on his 70th birthday,"
said my good friend Jennifer Lee Pryor. "A four-day celebration of his body of work--completely uncensored
and available to millions of fans across the country--is exactly what he would have wanted."

Subject: Religion

Every time I read about the public's belief in religiously sanctioned magic and
religion's denial of reality, I lust, positively lust for the revenue that would
become available if church properties were taxed.

It would really crimp the style of these organizations that make so much money
by selling fairy-tales to the gullible.
Cheers,
 Jay

Churches don't have to pay taxes OR open their books.

Subject: DADT repeal

Bart,

It strikes me that Congress just passed (with some Republican support) and the President just signed
landmark civil rights legislation ending perhaps the most egregious remaining piece of institutional
discrimination in this nation.  It repeals a law which Clinton signed in 1993 and allows Obama to
make good on a campaign promise then-Governor Clinton made back in 1992 to end the ban on gays
in the military -- which he instead codified into law.

I bring this up because your page seems to be filled with outrage over the tax policy compromise
with no mention of this historic moment in our nation's history.  It's not just about giving Obama
his due on this issue (although I think you should); it's about recognizing that something very good
has happened and the left has barely noticed.

Really.  Tax policies come and go.  DADT is history.  Very soon, and for the first time in our
nation's history, gays will no longer be treated as second-class citizens in our military.
We should celebrate.
 --Darrell

Darrell, I join you in your celebration but methinks you remember history funny.

Yes, Clinton campaigned on that issue but when he got to Washington, Sam Nunn,
a gay-bashing Democratic senator from we-hate-gays Georgia announced that gays
in the military would happen "over my dead body."

In 1993, Sam Nunn was considered a senior military voice in the senate, like Luger is today,
like McCain was before syphilis drove him crazy, so Clinton had a choice to make:
He could fight for this white-hot political issue and take on one of the top Democratic senators
 - which probably would've split the senate
and dommed his entire presidency- or he could live to
fight another day which is what he did and he went on to become our only double winner since WWII

Show me something - anything - close to that where Obama, in his opening days,
chose to put his presidency on the line to keep a campaign pledge.  Didn't happen.

The country is a lot more accepting of gay rights now than they were in 1993.

Before Clinton, the military would set traps and try to find out which men were gay.
When Clinton signed "Don't Ask," those witchhunts became illegal.
Do you give him any credit for that?

“Mike Palecek reminds me of Socrates the gadfly who asked unwelcome questions, Diogenes with his
lantern looking in vain for an honest man, Chekhov the man with the hammer challenging the complacent
family to share their meal, Kerouac the ever on the move, somewhat hysterical searcher, and he reminds
me of many Americans who as children were so blasted with propaganda that they’re devoting the rest of
their lives to challenging the lies and all who tell them. In this land where babies are brought by storks
and buildings collapse due to unpatriotic bricks, we need the gadfly because no leader, preacher, guru
or saint will wake us up, though the Doomsday clock is ticking close to twelve.”

My broken heart

All week, like every week, I looked forward to seeing my Dallas Coyboys lose.

But I searched and searched but I couldn't find the damn game. Here in K-Drag,
they'd rather vote for Obama than not broadcast a Cowboys game, but I couldn't find it.

Turns out they played that game f-ing Saturday - and I missed it.

And when I found out they lost by a single point, I was totally crushed.

The only thing better than Dallas losing is when they lose by a single point.
And the only thing that's better than that is when they lose by a point and
there's proof they were cheated out of their well-earned victory.

Missing a Cowboy humiliation is like missing the birth of one of my kids.
(I don't have any kids.)

Quotes

"Every September, they talk about the Dallas Cowboys in the Superbowl,
but every Superbowl, the Cowboys end up watching the game at my house."

Subject: 'hammering' Obama

Bart: Your observations concerning Obama are anything but "hammering" the man who promised us
to be a president. As a financial and foot solider who ardently supported candidate Obama and who
joyously awaited his inaguration with his promise to return our nation to the rule of law, I commend you
for you constant reminder to us, and I would wager Obama's Bartcop's monitoring team, that Obama has
failed to honor his promises to we who elected him and as you so eloquently point out, has capitulated to
the conservative opposition on every issue he promised his supporters he would not.

Moreover, Obama has repeatedly shown that he has no intention of being the honorable man he pledged
he would be either as a ruse for his campaign or most likely, has discovered that the type of balls needed
to play this game are not the ones he brought with him. These concerned supporters should take time to
review the WIKIleaks cable releases, especially those dealing with Spains investigation of GW Bush, et al,
and discover what Obama values most; protecting criminals or honoring his oath of office.

Keep up the good work Bart.
 Bill
Elyria, Ohio

I saw a thing on DU that said,
"I used to like Bartcop, but after all those terrible things
he said about Obama
in 2008 - I can't go back," which is horseshit because nobody
has been able to quote me where
I said something untrue or mean about Obama in 2008,
unless you count slurs such as "not as experienced as Hillary."

Bart, last issue's History Mystery is Charles Dickens - writer of the ubiquitous "A Christmas Carol",

Keep up the good work.
