Jan 4, 2011 Vol 2632 - Much to surmise
http://www.redtagprintsale.com Quotes
"2010 was the year of arsonists posing as firemen, of people railing against deficits while doing everything they could to make those deficits bigger. And I don’t just mean politicians. Did you notice the U-turn many political commentators and others made when the tax-cut was announced? One day deficits were the great evil and the next day $800 billion in debt-financed tax cuts, with the prospect of more to come, was the greathing since sliced bread, a triumph of bipartisanship. “ -- Paul Krugman, Link Send e-mail to Bart Shopping online?

"We need to have a showdown - we're not going to increase our debt ceiling anymore. We are going to cut things necessary to stay within the current levels, which is over $14 trillion. So this needs to be a big showdown." -- SC's Senator Jim DeMint (R-mental patient), suggesting America default on it's obligations, Link Hey Jim, can I ask a question? Say you're trying to balance the household budget, because you really need to cut back. Do you cancel water, gas and electric service to your home? Do you tell the kids that you're not buying any more food? Or do you cancel that new Escalade purchase and the two-week vacation in Hawaii? If you're serious about the debt, repeal that trillion dollar bonus for the super-rich. Quotes "This is not a game. The debt ceiling is not something to toy with. If we hit the debt ceiling, that's essentially defaulting on our obligations, which is totally unprecedented in American history. The impact on the economy would be catastrophic. That would be a worse financial economic crisis than anything we saw in 2008. If we get to the point where you've damaged the full faith and credit of the United States, that would be the first default in history caused purely by insanity." -- Austen Gooslbee, chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers, Link Send e-mail to Bart Majority says 'Tax the rich' 61% say that's best to deduce deficit Link Send e-mail to Bart Quotes "Because Assange didn't care at all about attempting to verify the information that he was putting out or determine whether or not it would hurt anyone.” -- "Steno" Judith Miller, seriously, with a straight face, Link Hey Steno, didn't you help Bush & Cheney kill 4500 US soldiers with Iraq WMD lies? When it comes to abortion, I'm for smaller government. Why do you bigger-government types think Washington always knows better than America's heartland doctors and small town folk who want to be left alone? Send e-mail to Bart Geez, it's almost like they're lying. I don't think they should be allowed to sell you "A" and then serve you "B." Sometimes more government is good. Subject: the hit on Helen Thomas <snippage> Helen Thomas went too far, and subsequently was crucified by the very media that abetted her rise to prominence. She could have been the better person and criticized Israel's policies without suggesting that individuals return to countries that persecuted them less than a century ago. She wasn't talking about Jews returning to Germany. Why would you suggest that she was? I guess it's possible that two honest people could read different things into her remarks, but I heard her talking about rich American Jews who go to Israel and then complain about how their lives are in danger when all they needed to be safe was to stay where they were. That's why she suggested they "go back where they came from." <snippage> I liked Helen Thomas' articles (but) that does not give her a free pass. Lenin, Hitler, and Mao were authors, too. Chris Was the Hitler reference really necessary? I'm pretty sure Helen Thomas never executed anybody. This reminds me of Clinton's Jesse Jackson 2008 comments in South Carolina. Every word Clinton said was 100% true but Team Obama and the whore press had never seen such gross and outrageous and overt racism in their entire lives. Rachel Maddow was near tears on her radio show and she seemed to be having trouble breathing because she was trying to wrap her head around just how horribly racist Bill's comments were. I remember that. On 9-11, I was a college student majoring in journalism (I changed my major after the 04 election, smartest move I ever made). I started writing down everything that the media reported that morning. I heard that the first tower fell from Howard Stern, while Dan Rather was still reporting that there was a plane on the runway with a bomb on board in Cleveland, and a car bomb parked in front of the State Department. Stern was magnificent that morning, taking calls directly from listeners reporting the history they were watching unfold from their roofs and fire escapes. I never understood why the right-wing hates Stern so much. At his worst, he's a naughty 12 year old, but at his best he's a master satirist and a genuine talent. -J J, thanks for that.

In this land where babies are brought by storks and buildings collapse due to unpatriotic bricks, we need the gadfly because no leader, preacher, guru or saint will wake us up, though the Doomsday clock is ticking close to twelve.” -- David Ray, American poet, author of “The Endless Search” and “The Death of Sardanapalus and Other Poems of the Iraq Wars” Guess the City Link Subject: last issue's mystery city Bart, last issue's mystery city is San Diego!
