PO Box 54466 Tulsa, OK 74155 Quotes "Some people seem to forget that I’m not just Eldrick's girlfriend. I’m actually a successful athlete. I’m Lindsey. I have my own career and my own life.” -- Lindsay Vonn, tired of being ignored, Link Send e-mail to Bart Obama's Dangerous Dilemma by Robert Parry Link Obama, known for preferring thoughtful accommodation to tough-minded confrontation, (AKA dithering) finds himself caught in a political quandary that could have dire consequences for the world’s future. His dangerous dilemma is this: the planet is facing a rising tide of existential threats – from widening income inequality to life-threatening global warming – that require coordinated and aggressive responses from nation states and particularly the United States. But, simultaneously, his support for expanded government surveillance and national security secrecy is undermining trust in government. So, just when the people need government the most – to literally save the world – government is giving them more reasons to reject government. It is a moment when Obama’s careful political calibrations adds to the danger. If he doesn’t move quickly and decisively to let American citizens in on as many of the government surveillance secrets as reasonably possible – and dial back the dragnet on people’s personal information – he risks playing into the hands of anti-government extremists like the Tea Party who are now casting themselves as the protectors of America’s constitutional rights. Really, Bob? The answer is to reveal MORE of America's NSA secrets? Why is Snowdon in Hong Kong? Writer claims to know the area... thiscantbehappening.net While the issue that has Snowden on the run -- exposing an Orwellian spying program targeting the American people and run by the NSA -- is certainly not one that the Chinese government likes to discuss in terms of their own locked-down society, you can bet that the folks in the Propaganda Bureau in Beijing are rubbing their hands with glee both at the incredible embarrassment their harboring of Snowden causes the hypocritical US, and at the trove of intelligence information he has, which China may be able ultimately to lure him into disclosing if they treat him well. Then too, there is the matter of the Confucian concept of gift-giving and mutual obligations. It was, I am sure, no accident that Snowden chose the weekend that Obama met with China's new president Xi Jinping to take his mask off. In doing that, he gave President Xi an incredible gift -- the chance to hold the upper hand in his negotiations with a hugely embarrassed and compromised Obama over issues like Chinese computer hacking of US corporate and government secrets, and theft of intellectual property. So, are we now rooting for Snowdon to give China our national security secrets? Subject: NSA Spying Bart, you wrote: > Obama says this is a good program that's helping the government to save lives. > I have no evidence that that's a lie. Do you have evidence that he's lying? There isn’t yet any evidence that it is true either. You're right - all we have is the word of our Democratic president, which doesn't seem to buy Obama a cup of coffee with Democrats these days. As you say, this is too new to be taking a hard position on it. Let’s wait to see what comes out now that their secret is exposed. Dennis in DC I don't see any waiting. I see an angry Demo mob, eager to turn on their president. Send e-mail to Bart Bartcop's Computer Repair

Palin, The GOP's Rock Bottom by Jeb Golinkin Link Not long ago, conservatives like myself were thrilled to find out that Fox News had parted ways with quitter Sarah Palin. This was truly a cause for celebration. Those of us devoted to building a conservative movement capable of winning elections had come to view Palin as the symbol of everything, and I do mean everything, wrong with the modern conservative movement. But now, Roger Ailes has rehired her. Those who are all sizzle and no steak get found out soon enough. And never in history has anyone ever been found out quite the way Gov. Palin was. Before McCain nominated Palin to be his running mate in 2008, the Republican Party was already in lousy shape. But Palin was rock bottom. She simply did not know enough to engage anyone on any matter of substance, and that was a highly damning fact that shaped the modern perception of the Republican Party. Because of Palin's lack of education on matters of substance, and because so many in the movement embraced her in spite of that utter cluelessness, most voters came to view the party as a movement driven by charismatic but uneducated leaders followed by hordes of hero worshipers too oblivious or uninterested to contemplate the sorts of disaster that might follow if someone like Palin were actually elected. Conservative media has never been about conservatism, and has always been about using conservatism as a vehicle to make money. Roger Ailes doesn't care about how the GOP is perceived or whether it wins elections. So back comes Sarah Palin to make conservatives look clueless, and on and on it goes. Sometimes I just want to cry. Damn, when was the last time you read something written by a conservative that made sense? Right now the GOP has ZERO electable candidates for 2016 and their future looks dimmer than, well, Palin. Marco Rubio? Ted Cruz? Rand Paul? ha ha The GOP regularly nominates the guy whose "turn" it is to lose and in 2016, that suggests Rick Man-on-Dog Santorum might be on-deck. Send e-mail to Bart Subject: My take on the NSA Link Hollywood Creativity Link Send e-mail to Bart Subject: Privacy and the NSA Hi Bart I have been thinking of Abbie Hoffman lately. That is, I have been channeling the idea of SUBVERSION, Against despotic political types. Wikileaks, Anonymous, and now, Snowden. More power to them, and an end to broad secrecy. That was not in our constitution. Freedom of the press, now destroyed by the Corporotocracy, mail, now destroyed by Rethug Teabaggers in Congress, eliminates our freedom of speech. Subversion, by leaks or humor, is one option left to us! Bob C Send e-mail to Bart Marty's

Send e-mail to Bart Obama is the Drone Ranger by Greg Palast Link Every Tuesday, President Obama personally checks off the names of people he wants killed. Obama felt those decisions were the president's responsibility: he want[s] to keep his own finger on the trigger," according to one report. A tidy, scheduled man, the President only picks his victims once a week. On October 14, 2011, in Shabwah province, Yemen, Abdul, went out with his cousins and friends for a good old US-style barbecue, when Obama's drone fired a rocket, blowing the teenager to pieces. Obama didn't order the killings (Abdul's friends and cousins died too) as a random act of crazy. Abdul's problem was that his father was Anwar al-Awlaki. Obama killed Abdul's dad as well. But are you ready for this? The teenager—along with his cousin and friends—was killed two weeks after and hundreds of miles away from the site where rockets killed his father. I am convinced the hit on al-Awlaki's son was meant to teach a lesson, If you want to be a martyr, we'll make your son and your mom and daughter martyrs too. If that really happened, can we get a reporter to ask about it at the next press conference? Send e-mail to Bart Subject: NSA request Dear Bartcop, Please help the NSA. We presume you are in contact with nasty people. Presumption of innocence is so passe. Court ordered subpoena's, a thing of the past. Personal data on your sexual behavior. Anything else you would like to "share". Your real name and address to be shared with "Tea Party" fanatics in our organization. Remember, right wing loonies instead of Democrats may be in total charge soon, and they will need NSA tools to build a police state. Your Friendly Spy Agency, The NSA. Send e-mail to Bart Subject: From a subscriber about thinking for yourself (Pauli's letter) Dear Bartcop: I started reading your page late in 2001, or so. I loved it then, love it now. I don't agree with you on absolutely everything, but even when I disagree, the way you write ("it's a humor site!") makes that less objectionable. Or whatever. I don't know that I've ever agreed with anyone all the time, anyway, but I don't remember ever thinking I was supposed to, or that everyone is supposed to agree with me. I like the way you write, I like the items you come up with, and I like your page, which saved my sanity more than once during the GW administration. From a woman who was always told as a girl to think for myself, please don't stop thinking for yourself! Alison R Kansas Bartcop reader/listener Alison, that was nice - thanks. Bart, You're dealing with Democrats, they seldom think and generally just "feel" their way through life. You are right on the Snowden/NSA thing to wait for the facts to come in, besides if all these dumbass whiners had read the damn Patriot Act when it was passed back in 2001, they wouldn't be the least surprised in what the NSA has done. By the way, the only Senator to vote against it was Russ Feingold of Wisconsin. I am a yellow dog Democrat, but I also listen to the right and consider their arguments (which are usually stupid or slanted, but not always). And I have known from the beginning that Barack Obama is not a liberal, but nearly a bluedog. Mike95 Send e-mail to Bart Here's another chance to donate.
