Bitter in-fighting rocks racist GOP

Bitter infighting between centrists and die-hard conservatives has shaken the GOP to its core,
leading to a bruising battle that played a critical role in the government shutdown.
Da Boner was sparring with Obama's Democrats over a path forward on funding government,
but he was also fending off a Teabagger challenge hell-bent on killing health care for the poor.
With Democrats holding the White House and the Senate, many conservatives concluded they
needed to hold their ground in the GOP-controlled House, or risk getting steamrolled by Obama's agenda.
In recent weeks, as the clock ticked toward the end of the fiscal year on September 30, die-hard
Baggers made their stand: defund or delay so-called "Obamacare," at virtually any cost.
Baggers include 50-odd House conservatives who have largely thumbed their nose at Da Boner
and camped out on the far right of party doctrine. But behind closed doors they swing a big stick,
leaning heavily on party leaders. They are often in opposition to mainstream Republicans on key votes.
It's the perfect storm of Teabagger stupidity:

We have elected an ungovernable collection of snake-handlers, Bible-bangers, ignorami, bagmen
and outright frauds, a collection so ungovernable that it insists the nation be ungovernable, too.
We have elected people to govern us who do not believe in government.
We have elected a national legislature in which Louie Gohmert and Michele Bachmann have more
power than does the Speaker of the House of Representatives, who has been made a piteous spectacle
in the eyes of the country and doesn't seem to mind that at all. We have elected a national legislature
in which the true power resides in a cabal of vandals, a nihilistic brigade that believes that its opposition
to Obamacare is the equivalent of standing up the the Nazis.
This is what they came to Washington to do -- to break the US government. It doesn't matter whether
they're doing it out of pure crackpot ideology, or at the behest of the Koch Brothers, or their Bagger base.
It may be any one of those reasons oe all of them. These people have broken the governmentt deliberately.

Democrat Wendy Davis, who catapulted to national prominence this summer with a successfil
filibuster over access to abortion, is running for Texas governor.
Democrats told The Whore AP that Davis would announce her candidacy next week.
Last Thursday Davis Tweeted, "A week from today, I'm announcing something big.
Can you chip in now to show the strength of our grassroots network?"
Texas Nazi Greg Abbott is considered the early favorite to succeed Gov. Rick Perry,
who was judged incompetent and placed an Austin home for the mentally insane.
No other Democrat had the balls to stand up for women on abortion rights and nobody else had
the balls to run for governor in Texas, where a Democrat hasn't won a statewide office in 20 years.
This will be the dirtiest campaign every waged in Texas.
Remember, they made Ann Richards into a lesbian to defeat her - but times have changed.
Are there enough sane Texans to elect a sane governor?

Subject: Is doing nothing enough?
Bart,
I disagree with your statement that Obama can win the shutdown fight by doing nothing.
You're going about this the wrong way.
You're supposed to scream "You f-ing moron" at me in all caps.
What are you, some kind of adult?
The conservatives have such a handle on the media, more and more people are blaming Obama
and the Senate Democrats for the shutdown, in the teeth of all the evidence. There are two things
Obama needs to do to win, both of which Clinton did last time we had a shutdown:
1. Keep doing your job. As far as your work is concerned, today is no different from last week.
2. Remind people, frequently and on live TV, that all the House needs to do is send you a clean
budget that funds the entire government, and the shutdown will be over.
I recommend two other things as well:
1. Remind people that on October 1, the Republicans shut down national parks and veterans' benefits,
while the Democrats gave health care to millions of Americans.
2. Keep pointing out that Congress needs to avoid defaulting on the spending that they themselves authorized.
(It wouldn't hurt to point out that the budget resolution the Senate sent over--the one rejected by the House
--already cut programs MORE than the Ryan budget the House approved earlier this year.)

By "do nothing," I really meant "Don't cave in, don't accept a deal, don't settle for less than 100%."
Obama can't allow the precedent to be set that, if 80 handjob congressmen
don't like some law, they can blackmail the president into changing it.
If Obama caves, what will their next demand be? "Women can no longer vote?"

A conservative group turned to southern rock icon Charlie Daniels to write a new song in
opposition to the poor getting health care, telling the legend ( ha ha ) that his “God given talents
are needed at this important moment in American history.”
The aging racist had a couple of minor hits forty years ago.
That hardly makes him a "legend" to anyone but the most racist Teabaggers.
The Patriot Journalist Network launched a Twitter campaign recently asking Daniels to
“please help unite grass roots patriots opposing the poor having health care.”
“Your song will be our battle cry as we unite to oppose the poor getting health care,”
wrote one racist. “We pledge to rally behind you.”
I'm sure he will - God doesn't want his poorest children to do without health care?
ha ha

On the Vatican bureaucracy:
“It sees and looks after the interests of the Vatican, which are still, for the most part, temporal interests.
This Vatican-centric view neglects the world around us. I do not share this view and I’ll do everything
I can to change it. The Church is or should go back to being a community of God’s people, and priests,
pastors and bishops, who have the care of souls, are at the service of the people of God.”
On the obstacles he faces:
“The real trouble is that those most affected by (narcissism) — which is actually a kind of mental disorder
— are people who have a lot of power. Often bosses are narcissists. … Heads of the Church have often
been narcissists, flattered and thrilled by their courtiers. The court is the leprosy of the papacy.”
This is a new kind of Pope. He's nothing like Benny the Rat, the Vatican's Cheney-like enforcer
who was in charge of investigating priests' sexual crimes, butt covered them up, instead.
There's nothing Francis could say that could make me believe in the Tooth Fairy again,
but I'll be a lot less critical of the Catholics if he's the real deal like he seems to be.

Subject: Consequences of the Debt Ceiling Fight
I just saw on the news that 38% of the people think failing to pass an increase in the
national debt is a good idea, which means that 38% of the people are financially illiterate.
In round figues, the national debt is 16 Trillion, the interest on that debt is 400 billion or 2%.
The deficit this year is $600 billion. So, let's imagine that a default caused interest rates on
government debt to spike to 40% from 2%. That would make our deficit 8 trillion dollars,
or half the total output of the country. Try living on half the pay you have now and imagine
the country in the same shape. Could you avoid bankruptcy? Think 40% is too high?
That was the rate of Greece at the height of its crisis. Today Greece is at 10%, so we'd be
talking about only 2 trillion up from $400 billion. And if you think we have to do something
drastic now to avoid Greece's fate, the deficit is dropping now at the fastest pace in the last
60 years because tax revenues are increasing and the stimulus has ended. It is reaching sustainability.
No, refusing to raise the debt ceiling would destroy America as a prosperous country.
I can only hope that a majority of Congress is smarter than its constituents.

Subject: End of GOP Wall Street Money?
While some on Wall Street may be philosophically aligned with the more libertarian/wacko
bird wing of the GOP, to a man (and woman!), none of them wants the government shut down
and certainly none of them want a default (although undoubtedly many players are taking positions
to profit from this should it happen - that's only being realistic and smart, no?).
The point here is that today's GOP (yesterday's John Birch Society) is a Frankenstein monster
created by rich coporate America, but one that is too stupid to understand that they are only
supposed to reduce taxes on rich people and benefits for the middle class and poor people,
not burn down the whole fucking castle.
My prediction is that more Wall Street money will flow into Democrat coffers in 2014 and 2016
as a result. At the end of the day, money people like politicians who act rationally and are controllable,
and believe me, that no longer describes the majority of the GOP but sadly (at least as to the
"controllable" part), does describe most Democrats (with the possible exception of Sarah Warren).
Keep the faith. When Texas turns blue (in my lifetime for sure), we'll be remembering
the Tea Party in the same way that we remember the passenger pigeon.
