"I get e-mails every day from Limbaugh fans and Tea Party supporterswho believe that Obama is paying out of his own pocket to keep a federal museum of Muslim Culture in Mississippi open. They've been told that federal employees are exempt from the Affordable Care Act, and that the IRS will file liens against their homes to fund it. They will have to beg the White House for a place to live. If they complain, Obama will suspend their driver's licenses and have them arrested if they keep driving. Informing them that these things are imaginary only makes them more agitated. They're like children afraid of monsters under the bed. It must be a very unhappy way to live." -- Gene Lyons in a tweet Send e-mail to Bart Ryan wants to Deny
Birth Control
Why do they hate women so much? Link Since negotiations to avert a national default on the debt have shifted from the House to the Senate, Republicans in the lower chamber are still hoping to use the talks as “leverage” to limit women’s access to contraception. In a private meeting with House Republicans Paul Ryan (R-Loser) — who earlier this weak floated a compromise that would raise the debt ceiling in exchange for cuts to entitlement programs — railed against emerging Senate proposals and argued that the “House could not accept either a debt-limit bill or a government-funding measure that would delay the next fight until the new year”: Ryan argued that the House would need those deadlines as “leverage” for delaying the health-care law’s individual mandate and adding a “conscience clause” — allowing employers and insurers to opt out of birth-control coverage if they find it objectionable on moral or religious grounds — and mentioned tax and entitlement goals Ryan had focused on in a recent op-ed in the Wall Street Journal. Ryan’s speech appeared only to further rile up the conservative wing of the GOP conference, which has been agitating the shutdown strategy to try to tear apart the health-care law. It seems obvious to me that we ARE going to default on the debt Thursday. They're gone so far down the Crazy Path, they don't know what else to do but continue. Send e-mail to Bart What's wrong with the GOP? How much time you got? Link Major trouble is brewing for the Republican Teabaggers and for the GOP itself. The Tea Partiers' clout in this government shutdown showdown, and in positioning the GOP to threaten an economy-destroying debt-limit default, has effectively replaced the GOP's much-hyped re-branding with negative brand reaffirmation. A host of polls show the party's numbers heading south. And some of the party's big donors are not pleased. The Washington Whore Post reports that some Teabaggers face "early rumblings of a political backlash." Many other news reports contain unnamed Republican congressmen fearful of the Tea Party-influenced, no compromise, defund ObamaCare strategy. The operative word here is "unnamed." With the notable exception of Rep. Peter King, most are afraid to publicly step forward or to break with The Pigboy. Even an expected moderate Republican revolt in the Senate fizzled. Polls consistently show Republicans being blamed most for the government shutdown amid rumblings within the party that the ascendant Tea Party faction must be better controlled. And yet, most Republicans are still afraid to take a public stand. A new poll by The Whore AP is typical. It finds 62 percent blame the Republicans. It also had this telling tidbit: "More than 4 in 10 Republicans identified with the Tea Party and were more apt than other Republicans to insist that their leaders hold firm in the self-destructive standoff." Yes, by all means, when you're losing, dig in and dig deeper. I'll provide the popcorn so we can all watch you guys feed on each other. Send e-mail to Bart Quotes "Republicans are absolutely ready to lose the House rather than raise the debt ceiling without Obama first agreeing to pay a price." -- Rep. Phil Gingrey (R-Ga.) Link Phil, we're glad that you're ready to lose the House. Send e-mail to Bart Subject: I'd like to hear... They now know the Gov shutdown was a mistake Link The Koch Brothers are crying uncle. They have abandoned the Tea Party government shutdown strategy. In fact they make the claim in their letter (the entire letter can be found below) that, Koch has not taken a position on the legislative tactic of tying the continuing resolution to defunding ObamaCare nor have we lobbied on legislative provisions defunding ObamaCare. The statement is not accurate. On February 14th, 2013 Matte Kibbe of FreedomWorks sent out a letter. The letter titled “Congress Must Defund ObamaCare Before It Is Too Late” said that, Conservatives should not approve a CR unless it defunds Obamacare. This includes Obamacare’s unworkable exchanges, unsustainable Medicaid expansion, and attack on life and religious liberty. In other words they supported a government shutdown strategy. Why did they think a government shutdown strategy was necessary? Send e-mail to Bart Gohmert: "McCain Supports al Qaeda" The GOP civil war heats up "I'm as crazy as a f-ing loon!" Link Tejas Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Loon) described John McCain as a guy that supported al Qaeda. Gohmert's description came Friday during a panel discussion of Republican lawmakers at the Values Voter Summit. Gohmert mentioned McCain as he discussed the government shutdown. "Some senator from Arizona, a guy that liked Gaddafi before he wanted to bomb him," Gohmert said. "A guy that's been to Syria and supported al Qaeda and the rebels. But he was saying today the shutdown has been a fools' errand" Earlier in the day McCain said that the government shutdown was a result of a conservative effort to defund Obamacare. So, if you want health care, you support al Qaeda? Hillary could win 55 states in 2016. Send e-mail to Bart Subject: Winning - for now Bart, I think Dems ARE winning on this shutdown/budget/debt ceiling fight. But the big question is: will they continue to hang tough and stay united? My greatest fear is the President and/or Senate Dems are going to go along with some kind of 'deal' offered by the GOP. Whatever it is, it won't bode well for the middle class. Never mind that we've already "negotiated" much away! Why do they deserve to get anything? Please tell me what the GOP has given up? Two years ago Boehner bragged about getting 98% of what he wanted. They say no to anything and everything. That is not negotiating. It isn't even having a 'discussion'. IMO. in spite of the pain of the shutdown, this is NOT the time for Obama or Dems to go weak in the knees. They've earned my respect for standing up the GOP's ransom demands for as long as they have. If they cave, the first thing that's going is the respect, the second may be my future vote. I am sick of being on the side that caves in, capitulates, concedes. It has to stop and now is a good time. No retreat, no surrender! Mary Lou Mary Lou, the pundits say that Obama was a scaredy-cat dishrag the first few years and that he's no longer that dishrag. I hope they're right. Send e-mail to Bart Shop Online

Dudes Give Snowden Award They seem to be a very shady group... Link Four alleged Americans who met with super spy Edward Snowden said he is adjusting to life in Russia and expresses no regrets about throwing away the life he described as "Paradise." That makes sense. If you once lived in Paradise and threw it all away for Russia's cold winters, bad food and funny language, why would anyone think you might have regrets about that? The alleged Americans, who claimed they once worked for the CIA, FBI, Justice Department and NSA, have criticized the U.S. government and exposed what they believed was wrongdoing in the security agencies. All supporters of Snowden, they are the first alleged Americans known to have met with him since he was granted asylum in Russia in August. In interviews with The Whore AP, they said they spent the previous evening with Snowden to present him with an unnamed award given annually by a group of retired national security officers, they claimed. "He spoke about getting to understand Russia and its culture and the people," said "Thomas Drake" "This is where he lives now, and so where you live is your home." Yes, Snowden now lives in Hell and he has no regrets. Sure he does. Send e-mail to Bart Fun Fact
Gallup says the GOP's approval rating has sunk to 28%—the lowest rating in the history of Gallup polling. They knew they'd sink to all-time lows if they shut the government down. Down Government
With Rush's help, Cruz can win the GOP nomination Link Nearly two weeks after the GOP forced a government shutdown, less than a quarter of the country has a positive view of the Republican Party. Seven in ten Americans think the R epublicans are putting their political goals ahead of the welfare of the country. The GOP has collapsed in the generic congressional preference, while approval ratings for Obama and Obamacare -- the reason government was shut down in the first place -- have gone up. The Republicans sit fractious and rudderless in an historic nadir with no strategy to pull themselves out. But you wouldn't think that were you to tune into Rush Limbaugh's radio program. On October 10, Limbaugh told his listeners that he had supported the "defund" Obamacare scheme that precipitated the shutdown because Ted Cruz could "articulate conservatism." And thus even if the effort didn't actually lead to the defunding of Obamacare, Limbaugh said, it might still be "considered successful even if they don't reach that specific goal." That's a neat little encapsulation of why the Republicans are in this mess. The current GOP doldrums are the product of years of political isolation and insulation enabled by a cheerleading conservative media that rewards ideological rigidity and partisan gainsaying. And for that, conservatives have Pigboy to thank. The loudest voices in the conservative media argue that the GOP is/was winning the shutdown fight, but as usual and the Democrats and the liberals were conspiring to pin blame on the Republicans. The fact that opinion polling showed Americans blamed the GOP and disapproved of closing down the government was taken not as a warning that the strategy was failing, but as proof that the Democrat-media conspiracy against Republicans was real and had to be defeated. And therein lies the problem ...and therein lies the election results thru 2014, 2016 and maybe 2018. Send e-mail to Bart
