BC,
Smirk's deciding to enforce the crazy and vindictive idea of
denying anyone
with a drug offense a college education has truly caused my blood to
boil.
First off, the idea of denying student aid to anyone with a drug offense
on his
or her record is about the most idiotic and counter-productive idea
I've ever heard in my life!
Ok, you've paid your debt, and want to put it behind you and
turn your life around.
You want to go to school but are no where near able to pay tuition,
even at a community college,
and your parents can't either. TOUGH SHIT BUD!!
Want to go to college? Go out and sell some more dope to make the tuition
money,
because YOU'RE an evil drug doing person and you're not wealthy and
not from a wealthy family...
so we aren't going to give you shit!
Who fucking came up with this shit and how did they get away
with it?
This policy is supposed to be in OUR name as American citizens?
Do you think even a fraction of the public would support it?
Even from an anti-drug perspective, one has to suppose that the
would-be
student has paid their debt to society, and that in order to grow into
productive,
(and supposedly drug-free) members of society, that they should be
welcomed
to pursue a college education with which to better themselves and become
economically independent, able to purchase a home, and start a family,
if they choose.
Lead a stable productive life.
BUT THESE MORONS want to kick them down another notch!
Got into some trouble and got caught with a little pot?
Well then, WE CONDEMN YOU to a life in the subculture!
We will not allow you to get an education, and learn a skill, we won't
allow you
to make a good living or become a professional. (Well, of course you
can go to college
if you happen to come from a family that is fortunate enough to be
able to afford a college
education without any assistance, but if you're ALREADY poor and unable
to afford to
get yourself out of your situation, tough shit! Maybe the local factory
is hiring.)
The fact that Bush, or one of his Nazi henchmen actually
thought this was worth taking
action on is just infuriating! If you EVER in your life, use
drugs, even if it's just some pot,
you don't deserve to be able to better yourself by a college education?
This is supposed to be the government position. I don't
remember anyone asking me
or the public if this was OK with us! It's outrageous! I don't
think even a fraction of the public
would agree that if a kid gets in trouble for dope, that he should
give up his right to qualify
for student aid just like every other kid!
And alcohol doesn't count? More outrage! I guess a kid
that has 7 DUI's and has been
in and out of treatment a dozen times can still get all the aid he
or she wants, but a bright kid
with a pot bust on his record who doesn't have a rich mom or dad is
just expected to be the
best fry cook he or she can be?
This is insane without even taking into account the howling hypocrisy
and ignorance of Bush
standing behind such a policy! This chimp has a past of drug
use and arrests, AND there is
proof that he refused to answer a similar question on his jury pool
form.
Were is all the pit-bull lawyers out to make a name for themselves when
you need them?
I can only hope that there's a very well publicized legal challenge
to this short-sighted idiocy!
90% of dickless Klayman's cases had less to go on than this! There
should be a flurry of
political cartoons on this, the talking head morons should be gabbing
it up for a week at least.
But I bet we'll never hear about it again. And meanwhile, thousands
and thousands of young
people are being denied the opportunity to even compete in today's
job market because of a drug charge.
Cheat on your wife and break apart a family when you're in your 40's
and if you're Henry Hyde,
it's a "youthful indiscretion", but get caught with a small amount
of pot when you're 16 and we
in essence will condemn to you to be a second class citizen, whether
you want to be or not!
Hey, it's the punishment that keeps on giving!
BULLSHIT!
