Subject: Horowitz: Women & Gays in the military
Hey BC,
Wanted to add a comment re: David Horowitz' article
on women in the military... and gays in the military.
He puts forth the un-scientific, disproven argument(s)
that gays shouldn't be in the military for a variety
of puritan and/or Cro-Magnon reasons... Gays
couldn't possibly control themselves and other such blather...
Alas... <sigh>
Many, MANY studies have come out ( government
and independent ) re: gays in the military and have found
no problems with integration, unit cohesion,
etc.
Perhaps the simplest approach to this is to look
at others country which allow "opening" gay men and women to serve?
Well - This has been going on for decades and
the results are in: NO PROBLEM!
Just like when blacks were integrated - a bunch
of redneck, right-wing, ignorant bigots feared our
military would come crashing down; When
in reality what happened was the military handled it and after a
momentary upset ... it was "business went on
as usual".
The *Big* difference with gays is that since our
U.S. military has existed, these people have been serving
honorable and unknowingly ( in quite high numbers
I can add ) without issues or ill consequences.
[ Sidebar - Hey, if we allow "openly" lesbian
women in... the argument about women & pregnancy will have
to be removed as well!<g> ]
BTW - Just for reference... If any of the bigots
out there want to know *which* countries allow this
outrageous practice of allowing "openly" gay
people to serve... Look to NATO.
Of all of the members of NATO there are *ONLY
TWO* which practice this bigotry.
1. The United States
2. Turkey
Wow - impressive company we keep, eh?!
Keep us the excellent fight!
You Rock!
