BC: There's a thread devoted to this at Salon, politics folder. There was
speculation Condit killed her, her hiding as a 'hoax' etc...the most
reasonable scenario is that she committed suicide; my reasoning is contained
in my posts(follow)...if you'd like I can clean this up for publication,
maybe you'd like to print a cleaned up version for rebuttal?

Answering that Condit killed her:

<She's dead and Condit killed her to cover up their affair. Pure unabashed
speculation with no evidence whatsoever, but my gut is usually right. Like
the Ramseys and OJ, if this guy is innocent he's sure acting guilty.>

Not a likely scenario, given what we know. I'd guess he was boinking her, she
developes a fatal attraction type deal..she wants him to leave his wife...he
refuses..she jumps off a bridge.

He's been evasive because he can't admit affair to wife/constituents, nor
make it seem like he 'drove her to it.'

It's very rare for a woman to off herself over a man, but it does happen.
That's my guess..

On where to look for her:

I'd be searching downstream from the nearest bridge from her house

On the plausibilty of it being suicide, and the notion that suicide victims
always leave notes:

<Why? Most people who kill themselves don't hide themselves so well that
they're not found for weeks. Usually they leave a note - somewhere where
somebody will find it.>

Most people don't leave notes, and many commit suicide in private areas where
it may take a long time to be found....if ever.

There apparently was a flurry of phone calls to the Congressman just before
she disappeared.(on a private line, IIRC). The Congressman's non-denial
denials point to a close relationship. He has nothing to gain by admitting to
one. Either he does and becomes a public suspect, or in the case she did
commit suicide she won't be around to tell anyone about the relationship anyway.

There is no reported forced entry at her home, and her property was
apparently all there. This implies robbery isn't a motive...if she left home
she did so without a struggle, either of her own will alone or someone she
felt comfortable with.

I'll stick to my guess.

On why, if she committed suicide by jumping off a bridge,  her body hasn't
been found yet..why it's not murder ...and why it's not a hoax:

If the body of water includes a very isolated area downstream, God only knows
how long it might be before they find her...if it enters the ocean nearby,
they may never find her.

>From reports, she is said to have a secret boyfriend. If this is a 'normal'
relationship, why the secrecy? The 'secret' is that she's seeing a married man.

I may have assumed her car has been found, if she had one. I may have read
that, I may not have. If it was missing, either used in a crime(hijacking or theft)
it would have turned up by now. Hard to hide, and too hot to keep.

And it's not a hoax. No woman would disappear for 'fun' or as a stunt. And
she didn't run away to France without her purse, credit cards and without
cleaning out her bank accounts.

As I noted in my first post, I'm just guessing here, but I stand by my guess.

On the theory that she's hiding with friends, as a hoax:

No way, Faith (that she's hiding). No one would put their parent's through
that torment, and even if so, their more rational friends would have talked
them into coming forward.

I am operating on the premise that people do illogical/stupid shit. People
off themselves over failed relationships every day. By far, more often men
but not unknown with women.

And speaking of stupid stuff...an affair with a married man? Not exactly logical,
nor smart. My guess is that she doesn't reveal the relationship partly out of shame
(he's married, and that's still somewhat taboo) and because of who he is.
If it was Joe Schmo, no one would even know who it was....or care very much.
So that leaves the identity of her lover as....you guessed it.

Again, I'm just guessing...but there it is.

More on why I believe it's a suicide by jumping:

caseyk <Now, how about just a little bit of evidence.. >

The evidence is in what we know so far. The repeated phone calls, cited early
in the investigation point to a very cozy relationship, possibly an
obsession. The timing neatly coincided with Condit's wife visiting.

All of her belongings are in her apt, no signs of forced entry by an unknown
intruder. Therefor she either left of her own volition, or with someone she
felt comfortable with...no neighbors reporting an abduction or a loud struggle.

If this was a mugging gone awry, the body would have been found. It's not a
street abduction. He (Condit)didn't kill her.

That leaves suicide. A bridge, a hanging or self-inflicted gunshot in a remote place
...but she couldn't have gone far, and she could have shot or hung herself at home.

That leaves a bridge.

On why Condit isn't talking:

Kitty<...I hadn't seen the latest version of Talking Points --Yikes! If she
was so distraught why in the world has Condit been keeping this to himself? >

Elementary, my dear Kitty. My scenario is that: Condit was boinking her, with
all the usual bullshit, promises and expectations that occur in extra-marital
relationships. He breaks it off, she's distraught and obsessed. She calls
repeatedly, he refuses to acknowledge her.

She's distraught and jumps off a bridge.

He doesn't admit an affair becuase it will kill him politically. If she's
offed herself, she takes the affair with her to her grave and nothing hurts
him. If someone else has offed her, it's the same result. Also, if Condit
admits the affair(besides ruining his career) he becomes public suspect #1.

Simple.

This is the reason he's been stalling for time. He's hoping that the body
turns up soon, along with a coroner's verdict of suicide.
